A Message From Miss Hall It’s Summer holiday time again and I’m pleased to report that it has been another successful year at West Park School. I have read all of the parent / carer comments which have been returned after receiving end of year reports and they are extremely positive. The children continue to be a credit to yourselves and the school. Feedback from school trips, from coaches during Activity Week and other visitors to school, is always very positive with the attitude and behaviour of our children complemented on a regular basis. During Carlton Week a member of the public came across one of our groups and was so impressed that he Googled our school when he arrived home and telephoned the school office to complement our children. He has subsequently contacted the school again and has donated a day out rowing voucher which he would like to present to one of our star pupils. We are also obviously extremely proud of the level of work produced by our children. Our SATs results this year are once again outstanding and I would like to congratulate all of the children and staff. I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of such a wonderful school.

School Bags Just a quick reminder as you may be buying equipment for the new term, we would ask parents to avoid the use of large back packs and provide bags which are as small as possible for the children. Most children should only require a draw string bag and a book bag in school (both available at the school office). I would ask for your continued support.

Y6 Leavers We would like to send our best wishes to all of our Y6 children who are moving on to secondary school in September. They have been a wonderful year group and we are extremely proud of their achievements this year. I was particularly impressed during the SATs week when the children showed an outstanding attitude and 100% effort. A determination to do well was evident across the whole year group and this is reflected in our overall results this year. They are a friendly, confident group of children who I am certain will continue to do well in the future.

STAFF LEAVERS Best wishes to Mrs Hind and Mrs Heggarty who begin their maternity leave tomorrow. Mrs Watt is leaving today, we thank her for all of her hard work and wish her well in her new role at St Joseph Primary School. Miss Corrigan has completed the first year of her college course and will also be moving on, we appreciate her enthusiasm and welcoming manner, just what you need in any reception area. St Helens Primary School are lucky to be welcoming Mrs Moore this September. She has been an asset to the school, extremely popular with pupils and staff. Last but certainly not least, Mr Day starts his retirement (for the second time!), this summer. Tony is a West Park Legend and he will also be greatly missed.

DUCHY ROAD Thank you for the supportive comments as parents have seen half barrel planters being placed on the pavement along this private access road. Children are now able to walk along the pavement on their way home rather than having to step onto the road as the pavement is blocked with cars mounting the kerb. We have over 150 families at West Park School and the vast majority have supported our request to avoid parking on Duchy Road, this is greatly appreciated.
