Thursday 8th September 2016
We are pleased to welcome Miss Sanderson to our teaching staff this September. Miss Sanderson will be working in our Y4 class.
SAFETY FIRST Parents and carers are reminded that jewellery should not be worn in school. Ear-rings are a particular problem in school. These should be removed or taped over for a short time if necessary. Parents should also remember that we are a nut free school. We have children with nut allergies and all packed lunches and snacks brought into school should be healthy and nut free. All drink bottles brought into school should hold water only. Can all parents continue to keep staff fully informed with arrangements for collecting children from the school gate. Any changes in arrangements should be given to the school office and this will be passed to the class teacher. All staff First Aid qualifications will be updated for teaching and lunchtime staff, this half term.
SCHOOL WEB-
SITE
www.westpark.hartlepool.sch.uk Can I remind all parents and carers that the school website is being continually updated thanks to support from Miss Sheldrick and Jeff Newton , a parent who has supported the school for a number of years. We try to include important dates, newsletters and other useful information. Your feedback regarding the content is always appreciated.
TEXT MESSAGING Our text messaging service is most useful to both staff and parents. Please ensure that mobile phone numbers are up to date if you want to receive our latest texts and up to date messages and information.
School Security Parents may be aware that the security systems have been updated in school. The doors in the Main Entrance to school in particular, have been improved. The two main gates on Coniscliffe Road will also be locked at set times during the day. The gate to the Early Years Unit will be locked by staff when not in use. The main gate to the rest of the school, including the school office, will remain open during the day for access. This gate will be padlocked during playtime and lunchtime, however, when the school field is being used by the children. As explained in a recent text message, the gate will be opened by a member of staff on duty if access to the school office is needed by parents and visitors during these times.
Community Support I would like to take this opportunity to thank our neighbours, which includes many parents, for the support given to the school over the summer holidays. I am sure that parents are aware, after a number of text messages, that youths on the school site were causing damage particularly to the outdoor areas built just last year to improve the outdoor environment for the children at West Park School. Many of you worked with the community police to solve this problem. Any assistance is, and was, greatly appreciated.
