CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE It is my great pleasure to present the shortlist of nominees for the 2020 National Infrastructure Awards. 2020 was not the year anyone expected. However, while the 2020 National Infrastructure Awards present us with the opportunity to celebrate excellence within the sector, it also provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the way the sector has and continues to successfully navigate the various health and economic challenges that have faced Australia as a result of COVID-19. The 2020 National Infrastructure Awards recognise excellence across the sector in ten categories: • • • • • • • • • •

Advisory Excellence Contractor Excellence Financial Excellence Government Partnerships Excellence Operator and Service Provider Excellence Innovation Excellence Future Infrastructure Leader of the Year Award Women’s Achievement in Infrastructure Award Industry Choice Award, and Project of the Year.

While COVID-19 resulted in the initial postponement of this year’s awards, I am pleased we can still acknowledge the distinction and excellence that enabled the sector to come out of COVID-19 stronger and more resilient. Every year, an independent judging panel of respected public sector leaders comes together to consider the awards. This year, the Judging Panel was co-Chaired by Leilani Frew and Kim Curtain. I would like to thank: • • • • •

Leilani Frew, Chief Executive Officer, Infrastructure Project Financing Agency (Chair) Kim Curtain, Deputy Secretary, NSW Treasury (Chair) Jason Loos, Deputy Secretary, Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance Neil Scales OBE, Director-General, Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, and Mike Mrdak AO, Former Secretary, Department of Communications and the Arts.

Finally, thank you to our Platinum Sponsor MUFG and our Gold Sponsor Transurban, and each of the award category sponsors for their continued support and investment in the national infrastructure sector. Yours sincerely,

SIR ROD EDDINGTON AO
