Raiders’ ‘No Show’ No Big Deal…Or Is It? By Veronica Mackey

s the proposed $1.7 billion stadium that would house both the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers still a go? Carson Mayor Albert Robles says yes, despite the Raiders not showing up for an important town hall meeting Monday night to discuss the proposed NFL venue. Robles said he “wouldn’t read too much into it” and that their absence doesn’t reflect the team’s interest in relocating to Carson. “Every indication I’ve seen from him (Raiders President Marc Badain), eyeball to eyeball, every indication to me is that they’re committed.”

Public’s Help Needed in Murder Case

ourners and Inglewood police are still trying to make sense of the shocking death of 75 year-old resident, Robert Hollis. Hollis, who was blind and described as a man with a “smile as big as his heart,” was found decapitated in his apartment in the 800 block of Glenway. He was discovered by his son on June 18. His head was not with the body when it arrived at the coroner’s office.
While the Raiders’ absence may not signal cold feet, it does not sit well with the public. Raiders fans were left disappointed, and there is no word yet why the franchise was a “no-show.” “I’m very disappointed,” said a Raiders fan, adding that fans expected both teams to be represented. Carmen Policy, the man hired by the two teams to spearhead the project, was also noticeably absent. Ro(Continued on page 10)

Robert Hollis The victim’s sliding glass door on his balcony was also open. “I have never heard of any organization decapitating a senior citizen, a blind senior citizen,” Bishop L.J. Guillory told ABC News, speaking on behalf of the Hollis family. “Mr. Robert Hollis did not have enemies.
