he City of Inglewood will honor the life and legacy of Cesar Chávez on Monday, March 31. Cesar Chávez Day is an official state holiday and the birthday of the late labor rights leader. In observance of the day, Inglewood City Hall, schools and libraries will be closed. One of the country’s most inspirational labor lead ers, Chávez founded and led the first successful farm workers’ union in the Unit ed States. When he passed away on April 23, 1993, he was president of the United Farm Workers of America.
