Inglewood Mayor Butts Welcomes The K Line Westchester/Veterans Station Dedicated
The City of Inglewood officially welcomed and dedicated a new transportation artery on Sept. 17 in a ceremonial coronation of the Westchester/Veterans Station that will load patrons for the K-Line at corner West Florence and Hindry Ave.
“The reason we have a sizzle wheel is because it takes about 10 minutes to articulate the depth and changes to the city, three sports teams, YouTube, LA Phil Harmonic Youth Orchestra, NFL Network, Girl Scouts of Great Los Angeles and on and on and on. The easiest thing to say is what’s happening in Inglewood, including having the Super Bowl, Wrestle Mania, the Olympic Games. The things that happen in the last seven years in the City of Inglewood has only happened in three major metropolitan cities in the country that’s Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco,” stated Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, Jr.
Butts, Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins and Metro Board Director Jacquelyn Dupont-Walker were all intimately responsible for the project that cost $1.766 billion.
The K Line was designed and built with the help of community input and local voices to provide a faster, more convenient and reliable way to connect to jobs, schools and the rich cultural places throughout these communities. The K Line will connect to the Metro E Line (Expo), which travels between downtown LA and Santa Monica. By 2024, the K Line will also connect to the new LAX/Metro Transit Center
Station, the new Aviation/Century Station and the Metro C Line (Green).
It will also connect folks to The Centinela Adobe, also known as La Casa de la Centinela, is a Spanish Colonial style adobe house built in 1834, that is operated as a play house and museum by the Historical Society of Centinela Valley, and it is one of the 43 surviving adobes within Los Angeles Dupont-WalkerCounty.has attended every Metro Line ceremony since 2013 and says she hopes to be at the last one as“Eachwell. one of them has been unique. Each dedication has had a special message in its own way. We have learned something new at the new K-Line at every stop,” Walker explained. At each one of these stations, I have enjoyed the community stakeholders, the neighbors and everyone who has come out. It has truly, truly been amazing. So, we come to say thank you, that you to the community that has tolerated long past the date we said we would be finish.”
“It’s such a joy to be here. In about a year from now in as late as December 2023 we will open the People Mover which will connect these two things together and you can literally take the train to the plane and the seven most feared words ‘can you pick me up at LAX’ will no longer be the most seven feared words in Los Angeles,” added Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

5 Takeaways from Bolts Entering Week 3
By Eric Smith, The Chargers
The Chargers are 1-1 following a pair of division games to open the season. Here are five takeaways entering Week 3:
1. Khalil Mack is back
There was plenty of outside chatter this offseason about Khalil Mack, with many pundits wondering if he had lost a step of Nobodylate.is saying that about the Chargers outside linebacker after his strong start to the 2022 season.
Through two games, Mack ranks second in the league with 3.5 sacks, trailing only Micah Parsons of the Cowboys.Macknotched a trio of sacks in the season opener and then collected a half-sack against the Chiefs, sharing it with Drue Tranquill. He also forced a fumble in Week 1.
There’s still a long ways to go this season, but Mack has been a dominant threat on the field as he’s teamed with Joey Bosa to create a dangerous defensive duo.
2. An improved run defense
Speaking of Bosa, he has 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble through two games. Here’s what Chargers Head Coach Brandon Staley said of Bosa after Week 1:
“I thought that he played a tough, rugged game,” Staley said. “I thought that he played a team game. I thought that the way that he played was what we expect from him.
“I thought he did a lot of little things well, and again, and I appreciate that, because everyone knows what he’s capable of rushing the passer,” Staley added. “He did a lot of little things in the game that are going to be a big reason why he has a very complete football season this year.”
Put another way, Staley was praising
Bosa in multiple facets of his game, not just in rushing the quarterback.
And Bosa is a key reason why the Bolts run defense ranks seventh in the league entering Monday night. Through two games, the Chargers are allowing just 78.5 rushing yards per game.
The Bolts gave up just 64 rushing yards to the Raiders in Week 1 before
allowing 93 yards to the Chiefs, although 52 of Kansas City’s yards came on one play.
The Chargers will need to be stout again Sunday against a Jacksonville offense that is averaging 109.5 rushing yards per game so far in 2022.
By Stu Jackson, The Rams
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay on Monday said offensive lineman Tremayne Anchrum Jr. sustained a broken ankle against the Falcons that will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Anchrum was scheduled to undergo surgery Monday morning.
“I mean, what a tough guy,” McVay said during a video conference Monday afternoon. “He broke his ankle on the first play the game, played another snap, and then ended up exiting after that second play. So he’s having surgery this morning, tough blow for him.”
Meanwhile, the Rams are still waiting on the MRI results for cornerback Troy Hill, who left Sunday’s game with a groin injury.
“It did look like it was a pretty good groin injury that he suffered,” McVay said.McVay also said defensive back Cobie Durant suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain prior to his interception. Durant’s status is considered week-to-week.
“I don’t know exactly when it
occurred, but he said it actually occurred prior to his interception, which let’s you know this guy can freakin’ roll with a strained hamstring,” McVay said. “I think it was covering one of our
kickoffs, but he said he felt it throughout the game, kind of gutted through (it), and really pretty impressive by him to be able to push through a soft tissue injury like that, especially as a corner.”
McVay: Tremayne Anchrum Jr. sustained broken ankle vs. Falcons and will miss remainder of season, plus updates on Troy Hill and Cobie Durant
If Durant and Hill are unavailable for this week’s game against the Cardinals, McVay said Derion Kendrick and Robert Rochell would be the next men up.
