WHAT’S ON AT CLASSIC Classic Yearling Sale 9-11 February 2020 Riverside Stables, Sydney
inglis.com.au
WELCOME On behalf of Arthur and Jamie Inglis and the entire team, I’m thrilled to welcome you to the 2020 Classic Yearling Sale and Inglis Millennium Week. Early February sees the start of Inglis’ 2020 Yearling Sales Series, the continuation of an exciting time of year for all of our wonderful clients. The Classic Yearling Sale has continued to reach new heights for each of the past few years and with the introduction of the Inglis Millennium Race Day last year, there is now a real sense of occasion around the sale and the days leading into it. This welcome booklet outlines plans for events of the week, from a movie night to lawn bowls as well as all the Classic Sale and Millennium Day information that we hope will help you to enjoy your time in Sydney for the sale.
Wendy & Ottavio Galletta and Richard Litt celebrate the win of Classic grad Castelvecchio in the 2019 Inglis Millennium
Classic grad Vow And Declare returns to scale having won the 2019 G1 Melbourne Cup
Our marketing team has worked closely with the Australian Turf Club to create what will be a fantastic race day experience for those attending the second running of the $2m Inglis Millennium – including Free general entry.
The sale has produced four G1-winning 2YO/3YO graduates in Sydney and Melbourne since 2018 and 25 Australian Stakes winners for $100,000 or less in the same period.
The inaugural day in 2019 was a great success, headlined by Castelvecchio’s dominant win in the feature race.
The sale begins at 10am Sunday February 9 and runs for three days.
Castelvecchio went on to prove himself arguably the 2YO colt of his generation with victory in the G1 Champagne Stakes before returning as a spring 3YO to finish second in the G1 Cox Plate behind Japan’s Horse of the Year, Lys Gracieux. We are hugely grateful for the support of the Classic sale by the breeders and vendors and are committed to working with them to help achieve an outstanding set of results again in 2020. Inglis sales keep producing good horses – at the time of writing 40 G1 winners since the start of 2018, more than double our nearest competitor – as well as 10 individual winners of $1m-plus contests in Australia so far this season.
I have no doubt the 2020 catalogue is again littered with future racetrack stars.
Day 3 (Tuesday Feb 11) will include the second edition of the Highway Session, a new concept in 2019 that was exceptionally well received by both buyers and vendors. As was the case in 2019, all graduates of the Highway Session will be eligible for the $100,000 Inglis Challenge for 2YOs at Scone in May next year. Inspections for the Classic Sale begin at Riverside Stables from Tuesday February 4 and continue up until the completion of the sale on Tuesday February 11. Inglis is excited about the year ahead and we look forward to working closely with all of our clients throughout the year. Good luck for 2020.
The Classic Sale itself has enjoyed astronomical success in recent years. Household names such as Vow And Declare, She Will Reign, Castelvecchio, In Her Time, Samadoubt, Yankee Rose, Extra Brut and Hellbent are just a handful of recent Classic graduates to enjoy G1 success, let alone stallions such as I Am Invincible, Brazen Beau, Choisir, Extreme Choice, Hellbent, Spill The Beans and Odyssey Moon.
