WHAT DOES HUMAN RIGHTS DAY MEAN TO YOU? Human Rights Day plays a key role in our every day lives as South African Citizens. Here’s a look into what this historical day means to our team.

KERISHA KALKAPERSAD PROPERTY PRACTITIONER KWAZULU NATAL

Human Rights day celebrated in South Africa, is a day to acknowledge, know and understand your rights as a human being. For me Human Rights is about allowing one to express themselves as they are because each and every individual is different, unique and special in their own way. Being born in a free country is something we should not take for granted, and we should not repeat past mistakes but rather learn from it and better ourselves. Be free to be who you truly are because its your right to do so!

KEMUEL MARCUS PROPERTY PRACTITIONER KWAZULU NATAL

Human rights is pretty self explanatory, its the rights we as humans have.it is what we deserve ,but it came at a great cost to many people in south african

- history so altho the term human rights is self explanatory i do not take it lightly Due to our freedom we have in our country now it makes this country extremly beautiful,we have the right to interact with anyone not only on a personal level but on a professional level aswell which does enrich our lives and make it very interesting!

MUHAMMAD KHAN PROPERTY PRACTITIONER KWAZULU NATAL

Human rights are the rights that evey individual has as a result of their status as a human being. This is very important to me, as I feel these rights protect our right to live with dignity freedom and security. In addition it creates mutual respect among people and it encourages responsibility to ensure that the rights of others are not violated. It is very important to me, to be valued and respected for who I am, and what I believe and how I live my life. If one is treated with dignity, you treat others with dignity. It is our right to live a dignified life and fulfill our potential. I, and I think all humans want to exist peacefully and productively.

The Human rights day is set aside to remind South Africans about the sacrifices that accompanied the struggle for the attainment of democracy in South Africa. Whether we are at the work place, within communities, College or at schools, or with our partners and children, we all need to demonstrate the kind of responsibility that we would like to see in our country’s future in regards to our rights of freedom of speech and expression. Human rights today have the power to tackle the root causes of conflict and crisis, by addressing grievances, eliminating inequalities and exclusion and allowing people to participate in decision-making that affect their lives. Equality and non-discrimination are key to prevention and the youth of today must be aligned to preventing conflict and building resilience through equality. Rampant poverty, pervasive inequalities and discrimination are some aspects of the human rights violations, however, societies that protect and promote human rights for everyone are more resilient societies and for this reason we require the participation of all to enforce resources and opportunities that sets foundations of a sustainable human right based economy.

The youth of today, like myself have many benefits with equal opportunities and our rights are protected especially the rights to a healthy environment and climate justice and this adopts a mentality of rebuilding a better, fairer and greener economy that can break the cycles of the past. The keys are in our hands and we choose to open the door to a world of opportunities that awaits us and embrace the future with pride, dignity, sincerity and integrity to make this world a better place for us all. Happy Human Rights Day!

SUHAYL SHAIKH PROPERTY PRACTITIONER KWAZULU NATAL

Human Rights are the inviolable rights of every individual. It means the dignity and value of a person. Their right to life, their right to protection and their right to equality. To live free from fear, harasment and discrimination. Gender, age, race, ethnicity, does not give any individual more privilege over the next. Man and woman, rich or poor...every individual is as equal as the symbol.
