EDUCATIONAL GUARDIANSHIP
Internationalstudentsmusthaveaneducationalguardian appointedbytheirparent/parentsduringtheirstudiesatthe SchooluptoandincludingtheendoftheirstudiesinYear13. Educationalguardianshipwillbereferredtoasguardianship, andtheguardianappointmentmustbeagreedwiththe schoolandmustfulfilcertaincriteriatoensurethesafety, careandwellbeingofstudentslivingfarfromtheirhomesand families.Thisisaconditionoftheplaceofferedtoyourchild andyou,asaparent,areresponsibleforappointing,and retaininganeducationalguardianforthedurationofyour child’sschoolinganduntiltheirleavingdate.Such arrangementsmustbeinplacebeforethestudenttravelsto theUKtostarttheirstudiesattheSchool.Thisisnotedinthe School’sAdmissionsPolicyandTermsandConditions,which youwouldhaveseen,andagreedto,onyourchildsecuringa placeattheSchool.
Accreditededucationalguardiansandguardianshipagencies providestudentswithasafeandcaringenvironmentduring theirstayintheUKwiththeuseofhomestays(orhost families).Suchguardianshipagenciesshouldbesubjectto accreditation,validationandcertificationoftheservicesthey provideandshouldbeaccreditedbyAEGIS(Associationfor theEducationandGuardianshipofInternationalStudents)or BSA(BoardingSchools’Association)GuardianshipScheme.

AllstudentsinYears10andbelowmustbe accompaniedbytheirguardianoraresponsibleadult appointedbyparent,toandfromairportsandtravel hubswhendepartingfromandarrivingtotheUK.
ThePurcellSchoolhastherighttosuspendastudent’s placeattheschoolifappropriateguardianshipisnotin placeorifthereareconcernsoversuitableguardianship, orifappropriateandsafetravelarrangementshavenot beenputinplacebytheparent(s)/educationalguardian. TheSchoolmustbeinformedimmediatelyofanychange ofguardianshiporguardiancontactinformationandifa guardianwillbeabsentoroutoftheUKatanytimeduring termtime,suitabletemporaryguardianshipmustbeput inplacebyparentsandcommunicatedtotheschoolin advanceoftheabsence.
Whentheeducationalguardianshiphasbeenagreedbetweenparentandguardian,contact detailsfortheeducationalguardianshouldbegiventotheSchooltogetherwiththe requiredidentitydocuments-colourcopyoftheguardianpassport,evidenceofthe guardian’srighttoliveintheUK(ifguardiandoesnotholdaUKpassport),utilitybillwith guardiannameandaddressasproofofresidence,educationalguardianshipcontactform andEducationalGuardianshipAgreement(signedbythosewithlegalresponsibilityforthe student).TheSchoolcannotbeheldresponsibleshouldparentsfailtoprovidethe informationregardingtheeducationalguardianinsufficienttimetoallowtheSchoolto issuetheCASandforthestudenttoapplyfor,andsecure,theirstudentvisa.

ThePurcellSchoolisrequiredbytheHomeOfficeandtheDepartmentforEducationto ensurethatsuitablecarearrangementsareinplaceforallinternationalstudentsstudying attheSchoolthroughoutthetimetheyareintheUK.Thisincludesensuringsuitablecare arrangementsareinplacefortheirtravel,careandreceptionwhentheyarriveintheUK andcarewhileintheUK(includingduringexeatweekends,halftermandschoolholidays).
StudentswhoresideoutsideoftheUK,musthaveaneducationalguardian,appointedby theirparent/parents.Theeducationalguardianmustacceptparentalresponsibilityona temporarybasiswhilstthestudentattendstheschoolandisfarfromhome.
Parentsmustappointasuitableeducationalguardianandmustadheretotherequirements detailedinthisInternationalStudentGuidewhendecidingwhoissuitableforthisrole.The educationalguardianmustbeaged25yearsandabove,residentintheUKandhavea permanentUKaddress,holdUKnationalityorpermissionstoresideintheUKandlive withina2hourcarjourneyoftheSchool.Guardianscannotbestudentsinfull-time educationnorcantheybeasiblingofthestudent,unlessovertheageof25.Theseare requirementsforguardianship,irrespectiveoftheageofthestudent.
TheSchoolmustholdacolourcopyoftheeducationalguardianpassport,evidenceoftheir righttoresideintheUKifanon-UKpassportholderandacopyofautilitybillinthe educationalguardian’snamewithaddress,asproofofresidence.Anychangesin educationalguardianoreducationalguardianinformationmustbecommunicatedtothe Schoolimmediately.
TheSchoolreservestherighttomakewellbeingchecksonthestudentduringtheschool holidays,halftermsandexeatswhentheyresidewithaneducationalguardianor homestay.
Allflightsandtravelmustbebookedwithintheschooltermdates(aslistedontheschool website).Anyrequestsforearlydeparture/latearrivalsmustbemadeto studentabsence@purcell-school.orgatleasttwoweeksinadvanceoftravel.Absencesmust beauthorisedbeforetravelplansareinplace.Unauthorisedabsenceswillbereportedto theHomeOfficeasthesemaybeinbreachofvisaconditions.Parentsandeducational guardiansareresponsibleforbookingalltravelandforensuringthesafetravelofstudents fromschoolandfortheirreturntoschool.
TheHomeOfficerequirestheSchooltoholdafullrecordofthedestinationandtravelplans forstudentvisaholdersatalltimeswhentheyarenotinschool,astheSchoolmustensure thesafetyandwellbeingofstudentsduringtheirtimeintheUK.Thisdatawillbeheld securelyandinlinewithourDataProtectionPolicyandGDPRStudentPrivacyNotice.
Theeducationalguardianmustbeabletoprovideasafeandsecureenvironmentwhilstthe studentisnotattheSchoolorresidingathome.CheckswillbemadebytheSchoolto ensurethataccommodationprovidedforthestudentissuitableandsafe.Theeducational guardianmustalsobeabletoprovidesafeandsuitableaccommodationforthestudentin caseofillnessoremergency.Nostudentofanyagecanstayaloneinaccommodation includingguesthouses/hotels/Airbnbaccommodation.
Theeducationalguardianmustbeabletofacilitategoodcommunicationbetweenparents andtheSchool,whenrequired.Parentsandeducationalguardiansmustnotifytheschool ofanyabsencefromtheUKofaneducationalguardian,oranyotherabsencethatmay impactthestudentandmustensureanalternativearrangement,agreedwiththeSchool,is inplace.
Itistheparent’sresponsibilitytomakesurethatguardianshipisinplacebuttheSchoolhas anobligationtoensurethatthearrangementsaresuitable.IftheSchoolisunclearabout anyaspectofguardianshiparrangements,believethemtobeunsuitableand/orhave difficultyincontactingtheguardian,wehavetherighttorefuseastudent’sreturntoschool becausetheirplaceisconditionalonappropriateguardianshiparrangementsbeingin place.
TheSchoolwillaskforconfirmationofguardianshipfrombothparentandguardianat varioustimesduringthestudent’sstudiesattheschool.

ENTERING THE UK
Itisimperativethatyourchilddoesnotattempttoenterthe UKforstudypriortothe‘validfrom’dateontheirnewChild Studentvisa.Ifyourchildenterstostudybeforetheirnew studentstatusisvalid,theywillberequiredtoexitandreentertheCommonTravelArea(CTA)toactivatetheirstatus beforecommencingtheirstudies.
UNACCOMPANIED TRAVEL
IfyourchildistravellingtotheUKwithoutaparentorlegalguardian,theyshouldcarrya signedletterconsentingtotheirsolotravel-pleasefindatemplateParentalConsentfor Traveltocomplete.TheSchoolmusthaveafullrecordofthetravel,receptionandcare arrangementsforthestudentfortheirtraveltotheUKandtotheSchool,priortoarrival.
TheSchoolwillsendaUKArrivalFormintheweekspriortothestartoftheterm,andthis mustbecompletedandreturnedtotheInternationalStudentCoordinatorinadvanceof traveltotheUKinordertoconfirmappropriateandsafetravel,receptionandcare arrangementsareinplace.

RIGHT TO STUDY

THE PURCELL SCHOOL SPONSOR DUTIES
Asaregisteredandlicensedsponsor,ThePurcellSchoolmust:
ActhonestlywithfulldisclosureinallitsdealingswiththeHomeOffice(UKVI)1. Actwithintegrityasagenuineeducationprovider.

2. Takeresponsibilityforallitssponsoredstudentswhilstitissponsoringthem.The SchoolisresponsibleforasponsoredstudentfromassignmentoftheCASuntilthe studentiswithdrawn,leavestheUK,orisgivenpermissiontostayintheUKwitha differentsponsororinanotherimmigrationcategory.
4. Ensurethatconcernsabouttheconductandintegrityofsponsoredstudentsare treatedconsistentlywithotherstudents,includingtakingappropriateactionwhere studentsarefoundtohaveuseddeceptiontogainadvantageintheirstudies.
Doallitcantoensurethatprospectivestudentsaregenuinestudentswhocancomply withtheimmigrationrulesandstudentswhoenrol,complywiththeirconditionsof leaveandseetheircoursethroughtocompletion.
5. ComplywithallaspectsoftheImmigrationRulesandsponsorguidanceandsupport immigrationcontrol,includingtakingstepstoensurethateverystudenthaspermission tostudyintheUKthroughoutthewholeperiodoftheirstudy.
7. ThePurcellSchoolalsohasspecificsafeguardingdutiesandmonitoring,reportingand record-keepingdutiesinrelationtoallsponsoredstudents:
6. CooperatewiththeHomeOfficebyallowingitsstaffimmediateaccesstoanyofitssites andcomplywithallrequestsforinformation.

AsaHomeOfficesponsorweareduty-boundtomonitorthewhereabouts,care arrangementsandtravelarrangementsofallsponsoredstudents.
AsaHomeOfficesponsorweareduty-boundtoreportunauthorisedabsencesof sponsoredstudentsof10consecutivecontactpoints(weinterpretthistomeaneach morningandafternoonregistration/sessionie.5days)andmaywithdrawsponsorship priortothisifwehavereasontobelievethestudenthasstoppedattendingschool.We areduty-boundtoreportanyrelevantchangestocircumstancesofoursponsored studentsthatmayaffecttheirstudentstatus.

AsaHomeOfficesponsorweareduty-boundtomaintainahistoryofthecontactdetails andcarearrangements(guardians)forsponsoredstudents,aswellaskeep/maintain otherspecifieddocumentsrelatedtooursponsoredstudents.Toenableustocontinue sponsoringyourchild,werequestthatanychangetothesedetailsbecommunicatedto usassoonaspossible.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
ItisthedutyofparentstofamiliarisethemselveswiththeUKImmigrationrequirements andensuretheycomplywiththeconditionsoftheChildStudentVisastatusaswellasall applicableconditionsoftheChildStudentVisaroutesetbelow.ForThePurcellSchoolto continuesponsoringyourchild,pleasenoteandcomplywiththefollowingrequests:

EnsuretheirpassportremainsvalidduringtheentireperiodofstudyattheSchooland updatetheSchoolwithnewpassportdetails.
2.
InformtheSchoolofanychangestocontactdetails(bothparentorguardian)assoon aspossible.
3.
CompletealltravelformsprovidedbytheSchoolregardingExeat,halftermandendof termarrangementsingoodtime.
4. InformtheSchoolofanyabsencesassoonaspossible.5. InformtheSchoolandUKVIofanychangestoyourchild’spersonaldetailsthatmay affecttheirvisaand/orimmigrationstatus.Thesechangesmayincludename,address, nationality,genderetc.

CommunicatetotheSchoolanytravelorExeatarrangementswhereyourchildwillnot beresidingattheSchoolorreturningtoparents.Thesearrangementswillneedtobe detailedandrequireparentalconsent,orequivalent.
6. ReportanychangeincircumstancestotheSchoolthatmayaffectyourchild’svisa and/orimmigrationstatussuchaswithdrawalornon-completionoftheirstudies. Sponsoredstudentsshouldnotethatinterruption,suspensionandwithdrawalhave implicationsonimmigrationstatusandmayresultinarequirementtowithdraw sponsorshipandleavetheUK.
