Opening a World of Opportunities
Following a long and successful experience of teaching boys in partnership with the local boys school, Kings Norton Sixth Form became co-educational in 2015.
Belonging As an external student, I have always felt a sense of belonging here. I was immediately treated the same as the rest of the KN6 family. Lucy
WELCOME When you enter our Sixth Form you will already have an impressive track record of working hard and gaining the success you deserve. At Kings Norton Sixth Form we have decades of experience in educating students and today we believe that our Sixth Form has never been stronger. Our guiding principle is to ensure that there are opportunities in our Sixth Form for every one of our students to succeed academically and to thrive personally. Excellent relationships with staff instil the confidence to overcome any challenges that are inevitably faced in moving into A Level study, and the individual care our Sixth Form community offers enables our students to achieve the highest of aspirations for their futures. A significant proportion of our students decide to continue their studies at Russell Group Universities or Oxford and Cambridge, but they do leave us with a choice and importantly, nearly every student goes on to a place in Higher Education or work which is right for them. The additional enrichment experiences on offer at Kings Norton Sixth Form encourage creativity and enjoyment beyond the curriculum. They provide an opportunity to take responsibility and find out more about who you are and what you can become. Whatever that may be, you will be well prepared at Kings Norton Sixth Form. ‘If you had an idea for something you wanted to do then the school would always support you with it. One thing they have given me? Preparation.’ Laura (Alumna) There is no substitute for meeting us in person and finding out what makes us tick. We hold open events in the autumn term, and you can also arrange to visit us at any time. I look forward very much to meeting you.

Sixth Form equips you well for what you want to do afterwards, it shows you the wide range of choices available and helps you to choose the right one for you. Shauna
Having just under 280 Sixth Form students on site, our Sixth Form is small enough to provide personalised support for each and every student yet large enough to offer a very wide range of choice. Relationships are warm and we foster a relaxed environment in which learning is fun yet challenging. This combination ensures the highest levels of success for our students. All our Sixth Form teachers are experienced subject experts who know how to guide and support learning so that everyone can succeed whatever their aptitudes or talents. Our Sixth Form enjoys dedicated individual study areas and specialist subject resource bases as well as priority use of our well-equipped learning hub. Our recreational facilities include a common room, a Sixth
Form canteen where students can share a coffee and lunch with friends, state of the art fitness suite and beautiful extensive open green spaces in which to relax. We appreciate that this is the time when young people start to find their wings and begin to form themselves into the adults they will become in the future. We understand the pressures that this together with academic study brings, so we ensure that all our students are supported by a rich and varied tutorial programme, ready access to mentors and our skilled Sixth Form team. Outstanding guidance is provided by our Sixth Form staff as well as a range of external experts. This ensures that timely and wise decisions can be made about both progression pathways and appropriate enrichment activities, so providing the most relevant experiences for individuals to succeed. Choosing Kings Norton Sixth Form is your first step on the journey to a successful future. “I tried a large college and it didn’t work, I don’t feel like a number here, I feel like a person.” Chloe
Excellence We are constantly challenged to step out of our comfort zones, but seeing the results definitely makes it worth it! Candice
A great place to be, a great place to grow. Our Sixth Form is highly inclusive and no matter what your career aspirations or future plans, your experiences with us will open a world of opportunities for a successful life beyond school. Whether you plan to enter higher education or the world of work we ensure that each individual student is supported to make ambitious and appropriate personal choices. Expert support and step-by-step guidance through the whole UCAS process is provided by experienced tutors so that our students are confident at each point on their journey. Students receive individual coaching, and gain knowledge and experience through visits and involvement in presentations from former students, admissions tutors and others with first-hand knowledge of different institutions. This ensures that each individual is exceptionally well prepared and able to secure offers which are appropriate to their personal needs. We are aware that for successful futures our students will need more than just good examination results. They will also need to be well-rounded individuals with a broad range of interests, experience and skills. Our extensive enrichment programme is designed so that each and every one of our students is able to grow personally by being involved in a wide range of activities. Our students have a range of options to choose from which include activities
both in the UK and abroad, clubs, debating, mentoring, charity fundraising and community work. We actively encourage our students to gain work experience and offer support to find professional and community placements which help them to gain the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices about their futures. The opportunity to take on leadership responsibility across the school enables our Sixth Form students to learn much about their own potential and to build skills which are invaluable to their success in the wider world. Leadership within the school house system, subject mentoring, taking the lead in organising community events, in Sixth Form and lower school societies, are but a few of the opportunities available. Formal qualifications such as sports leadership and national student leadership accreditation are open to all to ensure that Kings Norton Sixth Form students stand out from the crowd. “Sixth Formers, in particular, make an excellent contribution to the life of the school, for example, as mentors to younger students. Ofsted

There are opportunities for additional stretch and challenge through the study of accredited courses including the Extended Project. Full course details are available from our website www.kngs.co.uk.
