ControlledDrugs TheSchoolʼspolicyisthatThePurcellSchoolshouldbefreefromdrugscontrolledundertheMisuseofDrugs Act1971/2001 Webelievethatinvolvementwithcontrolleddrugsisalwayswrongforthefollowingreasons:

● Involvementwithcontrolleddrugsisdamagingtotheschoolcommunityasawhole
Anystudentsuspectedofbeinginvolvedwithillegalorotherharmfuldrugswhileunderschooljurisdiction eitheronoroffschoolpremisescanexpecttobesuspendedfromschoolandmaysubsequentlybyexpelled dependingonthecircumstances Theschoolreservestherighttoinformthepolice

E5:ICT:ACCEPTABLEUSEPOLICY
TheSchoolʼsICT(InformationandCommunicationTechnology)AcceptableUsePolicygovernstheuseby studentsoftheSchoolʼscomputernetworkandanycomputerandperipheralequipmentconnectedtoit togetherwiththeuseofanystand-aloneICTequipment.
TheuseoftheSchoolʼsnetworkandequipmentisaprivilegeandnotaright. TheSchooltakesreasonable stepstocontrolandmonitortheuseoftheinternetandotherelectronicmeansofcommunicationwithout unnecessarilyordisproportionatelycompromisingtheprivacyofboardersortheirabilitytocommunicate withtheirparents,guardiansoroutsideagencies TheSchoolwillthereforedetermineappropriateuseand monitoruseraccountsandfileserverspaceasnecessary. Confidentiality Wherepossible,theSchoolwillprotecttheidentityofanyonewhoraisesconcernsanddoesnotwanttheir nametobedisclosed. Itmustbeappreciated,however,thattheinvestigationmayrevealthesourceofthe information,andstatementsmademayberequiredaspartoftheevidence. Asafirststep,parentsshouldnormallyraiseconcernswiththePrincipalortheChairmanofGovernors. This depends,ofcourse,ontheseriousnessandsensitivityoftheissuesinvolvedandwhoisthoughttobeinvolved inthemalpractice. TocontactamemberoftheGoverningBody,parentsshouldwritetotheSchoolcareofthe ClerktotheGovernors,markingtheenvelopeʻPrivateandConfidentialʼandtheletterwillbepassedon.
