RESIDENTIAL LETTINGS & FACILITY HIRE

Stonyhurst College, set in the beautiful Ribble Valley, is home to 700 pupils during term time. During the school holidays Stonyhurst plays host to a multitude of residential lettings including religious retreats, international language schools, summer & sports camps, orchestra practice weeks and swimming club training camps.

“It is regarded as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley.”

Alongside the residential accommodation the College has to offer is a range of function rooms and facilities available for hire outside of term time. With over 25 years’ experience hosting external events ranging from outdoor theatre productions to food festivals and fairs, our history, character and unique setting make Stonyhurst one of the premier venues in the North of England – as well as a wonderful location for films and advertising.

ABOUT STONYHURST Stonyhurst College is an independent co-educational Catholic boarding and day school, occupying a magnificent Grade I listed building in Lancashire. Founded in 1593, it is the oldest continuously existing Jesuit School in the world and famous for its connections to former pupil Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; author of Sherlock Holmes, and JRR Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings.

THE STONYHURST COLLECTION & GROUP TOURS Pre-booked group tours of the College can be arranged during letting periods. During a tour of Stonyhurst, visitors will have the opportunity to see the various chapels and historic rooms within the building. This includes the Great Hall with portraits of the seven former pupils awarded the Victoria Cross and the table on which Cromwell is reputed to have slept the night before the Battle of Preston in 1648. The College is also blessed with an awe-inspiring collection of artefacts reaching back to the sixteenth century. Amongst this collection is an Egyptian mummy, Arthur Conan Doyle’s school desk and a collection of historic manuscripts. It is these special features which make Stonyhurst a unique venue and will serve to enhance the experiences of those hiring its facilities.

CATERING Stonyhurst offers a modern refectory where there is always a great selection of meals to choose from at breakfast, lunch and supper times. We also cater for any special dietary requirements, and packed meals can be provided for excursions or day trips.

Each function room can be equipped with a full range of conferencing material. For non-residential, short-term lettings, there is a variety of catering options on offer, from a two or three course served meal, to a hot buffet in the refectory or a cold buffet lunch in the function room of your choosing. For events which are open to members of the public, we can even offer a cafĂŠ facility. Each enquiry is dealt with on an individual basis to suit specific requirements.
