EDITORS NOTE I don’t know about you, but I have been hanging out for cooler temperatures, icy rain and lots of wind, and while I don’t need an excuse to stay indoors, this is the perfect trio to sit by the fire in my PJ’s with my Ugg boots on drinking copious amounts of soup….ahhh bliss!!! Thankfully, my fashion sense behind closed doors is vastly different to what I may like to wear outside so I’m loving the chunky sweaters, big scarves, even bigger scarves and woollen wraps that go with just about everything in stores now. I can remember my mother knitting me big chunky sweaters with an animal or two knitted into the pattern when I was young; we lived in New Plymouth so a very necessary item in the winter with or without the animal patterns, coupled with matching gloves and hat (beanie). While I understand fashion has a habit of coming back round every few years it would be criminal of me to believe I would still look fashionable in them today. Thankfully I have huge amounts of choices now and as the Sylvia Park Stylist affirms, just because the temperatures have dropped there is no need to let your fashion game drop. Look for her tips on pages 18 and 19 and think easy, accessible and practical when choosing your top picks this season. Enjoy the season, on cold crisp clear mornings it’s wonderful to layer up and embrace the day just as it’s easy to veg out on the couch in PJ’s watching a great classic movie. WINTER: It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it. ~John Burroughs, “Winter Sunshine” Until next time

KENZO
Kenzo enjoys ongoing critical acclaim and has influenced a new wave of designers.
My love affair with Kenzo began more than 20 years ago when I acquired a magnolia white suit by the designer; says journalist Ginette Sainderichin.
He launched his first fragrance in 1988, Kenzo, Ça Sent Beau. Both lyrical and offbeat, the tone was set for other pioneering fragrances such as Kenzo Homme (1991), the first masculine fragrance; Kenzo Jungle and L’eau par Kenzo.
Simple but superbly tailored, the signature flower-shaped buttons were the only hint of the exclusivity of the garments’ creator. It was a head turner. Over the years I have continued to draw admiring glances by wearing Kenzo - albeit in a purely olfactory sense. Lifestyle has dictated that while luxury fashion is no longer within my reach, I can get my fix and still feel fabulous with a spritz of fragrance from Kenzo. Flower by Kenzo is one of the best selling perfumes in the world and for good reason. It has won several creative awards within the fragrance industry and was rated as the most attractive fragrance man finds on a woman. The unique powdery oriental floral fragrance is appealing to most women, all generations included (as I’ve discovered to my cost - daughters please note, I’m onto you!). I’ve found Flower by Kenzo has a long-lasting after-scent which lingers for most of the day or well into the night. It’s unforgettable, much like the designer himself. Kenzo Takada revolutionised the fashion scene with a mix of high fashion and street culture inspired by his native Japan when he set up in Paris 45 years ago. My monochromatic two-piece aside, the label became known for its ethnic-inspired looks and vibrant use of colour. Styling quirks such as heaped-on layers, along with idiosyncratic ties and drapes, characterised the label’s silhouette. Recognised as one of the greatest designers of our times, 6 | ENVY | SYLVIA PARK
But it was in 2000, the year following the departure of Kenzo Takada after thirty years of creation, that the label’s most successful fragrance was launched. Flower by Kenzo paid homage to Takada’s poetic boldness and was rewarded by being named fragrance of the year. The poppy became the visual embodiment of Kenzo essence and has helped make the fragrance one of the most evocative in the world. It also encapsulates his lifelong love of flowers and the scentless poppy in particular. True to its heritage of dashing gestures, the brand made its mark by creating spectacular fields of poppies in big cities around the world to herald the new fragrance. Over the next ten years, cities from Paris to Hong Kong, Moscow to Johannesburg found their squares and streets filled with thousands of red poppies. Flower by Kenzo had arrived. Now under the creative talents of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, Kenzo encapsulates ‘luxury for everybody’ in both fashion and fragrance. They have led Kenzo’s renaissance to successfully maintain the curiosity of its original fans (like myself) as well as opening up the eyes of a new generation (the aforementioned daughters) to the world of this brand that has such a rich history. And in case you are wondering, I still have that white Kenzo suit. Sadly I don’t fit it anymore but thanks to the power of perfume, specifically Flower by Kenzo, I still feel fashionable, young and fabulous.
WELL GROUNDED The new season is all about textures. Think neutral earthy colours paired with bold, tactile fabrics. The style is simple, yet indulgent.

WINTER FASHION TRENDS 2015
Angela Stone, a stylist for more than 25 years has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fashion industry. Her tips below are designed to not only inspire you but also change the way you look at style. Just because the temperature has plummeted does not mean you have to let your fashion game drop too. Think easy, accessible and practical when you are making your top picks this season. To help those in winter fashion strife, I have compiled an exclusive list of trends fit for any wardrobe. Here are five stars for winter outfit inspiration, from statement coats to knee high boots and vintage monochrome jackets.
2 WAIST BELTS Cinch your waist and accentuate your curves with a waist belt. Gone are the days where your bulky sweater makes your outfit look baggy and badly fitted. A waist belt can add an elegant finish to an outfit while creating an edgy look.
1 KNEE HIGH BOOTS I can’t say it enough - I am head over heels for knee high boots! This gem will be your staple accessory this winter. Knee high boots can edge up an outfit instantly. A simple top, a great pair of jeans or a pencil skirt look great with them. A guarantee go-to all season. For those looking to spice things up, I recommend knee high boots paired with a winter cocktail dress for a sexy and seductive finish.

3 MONOCHROME JACKET This classic is back in full swing. The monochrome look will keep you chic during the cold months. I recommend opting for a vintage monochrome jacket, keep the fitting loose but not baggy and pair it with skinnies or a skirt.
5 KNEE LENGTH COAT The knee length coat is the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe. Deemed the LBD of the season, a knee length coat adds a chic and classic finish to even the simplest of outfits. The most versatile colours to opt for are black or brown for everyday wear. If you are looking for a more statement coat, I recommend going for bright red or blue.
4 BIG BLACK SCARF There is nothing better than a scarf to keep you warm. I personally use big black scarves as a fashion accessory and statement piece. Got a boring top you want to add to? Wrap a big scarf around your neck! Be sure to layer your scarf to create your desired look or simply drape it down from your shoulder for a fashionable finish.
There you have it, five great trends to keep you warm and chic this winter. Remember this season it’s all about keeping it practical and simple.
ON TRACK Keep it simple with a tailored jacket and lots of neutral shirt options this winter. Accessorise with luxurious leather and wool pieces to exude old-school glamour.
