Graduada del ITESM campus Monterrey en Comercio Internacional y con un postgrado en Administración de Negocios y Mercadotecnia cursado en Harvard University. Tiene su propio negocio en la famosa 5ta Avenida de Playa del Carmen. Le gusta mucho la moda, viajar y conocer gente, pero lo que más disfruta es la vida en el Caribe Mexicano.

“Defeño” de nacimiento y de corazón. Hoy, adoptado por y adaptado a: Playa del Carmen. Además de ser un fanático del deporte (con control remoto en mano), pasó algunos de “sus mejores años” como periodista en Editorial Motorpress-Televisa. Recorrió portales de Internet, vivió en Miami por algunos meses durante el “web boom” del año 2000 y, finalmente, conoció el verdadero amor hace poco más de dos años: su hijo Diego.

Michelle has lived in Cancun for more than 20 years. Apart from being a sports fanatic (with a remote control in hand), he passed some of his “best years” as a journalist in Editorial Motorpress-Televisa. He traveled portals of internet, lived in Miami for some months during the “web boom” of the year 2000, and learned about true love since a little more than two years ago: his son Diego.

Gonzalez holds a degree in Communication from the UNAM with a postgraduate degree in Exterior Commerce from ITAM and a University Level Teaching Degree from the Universidad de Tepeyac. He has contributed to diverse newspapers and specialized magazines in the matters of culture, labor, and tourism. He is also a scriptwriter for radio and television.

Passionate about travel and world cultures, Gabriela Perosa admits that her life experiences shape the articles she writes. Her work has appeared in various tourism, travel and culture magazines in Mexico and abroad. An artisan at heart, she blends colors, creatively weaving together frontiers, a lover of art in all its forms. A graduate in Tourism and Hospitality, Perosa worked for many years in the business and lived in many countries. A native of Argentina, but a Playense in spirit, she describes herself as original, free-spirited, and innovative, and she always has a suitcase ready to take off when necessary.

Polo is an intriguing sport that has glamour, speed, skill, and passion, and the Mexican Caribbean boasts various national and international tournaments throughout the year, plus two equestrian Polo clubs with all the necessary facilities for practicing, horse keeping, and professional tournaments. Polo was brought to Mexico by English miners in 1880, but it was the Escandon-Barron family who really introduced and drove the equestrian culture in Mexico. In 1936, the first Bronze Olympic medal in the history of Mexico was won in Polo. In the World Polo Championship of 1987, Mexico was strong enough to reach the semifinals. And in 2008, Mexico played host to the World Polo Cup. Today, the man widely considered the best Polo player in the world is a Mexican: Carlos Gracida.

efinitivamente uno de los aspectos más importantes en el restaurante es el servicio del vino, de ello depende, en muchas ocasiones, que nuestra visita al restaurante resulte agradable.

The best service that we can have is the Sommelier, who is the person in charge of the care, control, sale and service of the wine, therefore is the right person to orient us regarding the kind of wine that we should consume, because he knows the menu a 100% and knows which options are there for us to match or pair our food, and also guide us so that our experience with wine can be the most pleasant. Right after the captain has taken the order for the food, the Sommelier will approach offering his services, so then we will ask for help to choose our wine or we can check the wine menu to find the brand, type, harvest or region that we are looking for.

El mejor servicio que podemos tener es el del Sommelier, que es la persona que se encarga del cuidado, el control, la venta y el servicio del vino, por lo tanto es la persona indicada para orientarnos con relación al tipo de vino que debemos consumir porque el es quien conoce la carta al 100% y sabe que opciones hay para poder maridar nuestros alimentos u orientarnos para que nuestra experiencia con el vino sea de lo más agradable.

También es muy importante revisar el estado físico de la botella; hay que fijarnos que la cápsula no presente alteraciones, que la etiqueta no esté muy deteriorada ni chorreada, que la botella no esté quebrada o estrellada y que el corcho esté en buenas condiciones.

Los mayas estarán presentes en cada momento de los festejos como en un número especial dentro del majestuoso “Xcaret México Espectacular” y en “Danzas Mayas” en el impresionante recinto del Juego de Pelota. El cielo se pintará de colores con el vuelo de más de 100 guacamayas como momento culminante de una ceremonia para recordar que la constelación del jaguar le entrega el sol, representado por una guacamaya, a la constelación del mono. Xel-Há celebra este momento buscando llenar a sus visitantes de la armonía de siempre con un toque muy especial. Nos regalará sesiones de meditación y yoga a la orilla del mar. Serás también participe de un instante de reflexión dejando mensajes de renovación, vida y esperanza por la llegada de un nuevo comienzo, los mensajes colgarán de las ramas de una Ceiba, árbol sagrado de los mayas donde se creía se sentaban los dioses a escuchar a los mortales. Se renovarán conciencias y se llevarán a cabo rituales de purificación en las aguas de la Caleta, agua dulce con salada, comienzo y fin. Al caer la noche en la selva de Xel-Há el agua servirá de nuevo, esta vez para llevar luz a la nueva Era e iluminar su camino de llegada en una ceremonia de mil velas flotantes. Sé parte de estas celebraciones y recuerda que se avecina un momento único en nuestras vidas y una infinidad de posibilidades para comenzar de nuevo.

Xcaret will do its best to take you back to the beginning, to the roots and the legacy of the inhabitants of this land, enthralling all our senses in a feast of color and new experiences with a touch of magic. The Maya of old will be present every step of the way during these festivities be it in a special act in the “Xcaret México Espectacular” presentation or in “Mayan Dances” at the impressive Mayan Ball game court. The sky will become a canvas of color with the flight of more than 100 macaws as the culmination of a ceremony that will remind us that according to the Maya the jaguar constellation will be handing the sun, represented by a macaw, to the monkey constellation. Xel-Há celebrates this important place in time regaling its visitors with the harmony it is known for but in very special ways. Meditation and yoga sessions by the sea will be Xel-Há´s first gift. You will also be a part of a moment of reflection by leaving messages of renewal, life and hope for the new beginning to come; these messages will hang from the branches of the Ceiba tree, a tree that the Maya thought of as sacred and where the gods were believed to sit and listen to the mortals. Consciousness will be reawakened in purification rituals that will take place in the water of the Inlet; fresh and salt water joint together, beginning and end. At nightfall in the jungle of Xel-Há water will again serve as the means to an end, this time to light the way of the new Era in a ceremony of a thousand floating candles. Be part of the celebrations and remember that a unique moment in our lives is just around the corner with endless possibilities to start anew.

In Mexico, medical tourism is a daily occurrence in the northern part of the country. Americans cross the international border for bilingual medical services at low cost, with a particular demand for dental and plastic surgeries. In many cases, the treatment is tax deductible. As for the south, Cancun and the Riviera Maya saw 2,200 patients in 2010, with a total income of 1.8 million dollars by way of accommodations. Incoming visitors from the United States and Canada are estimated to reach between 8,000 and 10,000 patients by 2015. Note that the two countries represent a market of 46 million potential patients and an economic rating of 11,000 billion. Just in the United States, spending of 20% of GDP on health care in 2015 is expected, and at the same time, 25% of the population has no health insurance. In this context, the Medical Tourism Association of Cancun-Riviera Maya, the Cancun Visitors & Conventions Office (CVB), the Association of Hotels, and the Tourism Promotion Bureau in the Riviera Maya, along with state and federal governments, are hoping to position the Mexican Caribbean not only as a unique destination for sun and sand, but also as an ideal place to practice medicine. Currently, the destination has 11 certified hospitals and clinics that are part of its medical tourism group, and an additional investment of 49.5 million is expected by 2013, including the establishment of four hospitals in the Riviera Maya. Los americanos cruzan el borde internacional para obtener servicios médicos bilingües y a un bajo costo, con especial demanda en cirugía dental y plástica. En muchos de los casos, el tratamiento es deducible de impuestos. Del lado sur, Cancún y la Riviera Maya recibieron 2,200 pacientes en 2010, con un ingreso de 1.8 millones de dólares por concepto de hospedaje. Provenientes de Estados Unidos y Canadá se estima entre 8 y 10 mil pacientes para el 2015. Cabe destacar que ambos países representan un mercado tradicional de 46 millones de pacientes potenciales y una derrama económica por 11,000 millones de dólares. Tan sólo en la Unión Americana se prevé el gasto del 20% del PIB en servicios médicos en el 2015 y, al mismo tiempo, 25% de la población no contará con seguro médico. En este contexto, la Asociación de Turismo Médico de CancúnRiviera Maya, la Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones de Cancún (OVC), la Asociación de Hoteles y Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística de la Riviera Maya, junto con los gobiernos estatal y federal, apuestan a posicionar al Caribe Mexicano, no sólo como destino inigualable de sol y playa, sino como un lugar ideal para esta práctica. Actualmente, el destino cuenta con 11 hospitales y clínicas certificadas que forman parte de la oferta médico turístico; para el 2013 se espera IN RIVIERA MAYA & CANCUN 135

La reproducción asistida y fertilización, odontología, cirugía estética, neurocirugías de mínima invasión, ortopedia, operaciones de la vista, angelología, tratamiento para el Parkinson, terapia celular y antienvejecimiento, bariatría en sus diferentes modalidades, cardiología y oncología son las especialidades que se ofertan en la zona. Dario Flota Ocampo, Director del Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística de la Riviera Maya (FPTRM) comentó que “la ILTM Américas será en adelante un gran escaparate para mostrar todo lo que México tiene y que ofrece al mundo.
