Set deep in the heart of Alaska, Fairbanks is the perfect place from which to embark on once-in-a-lifetime

adventures. Cross the Arctic Circle, explore spectacular tundra and boreal landscapes and shadow remarkable wildlife. In addition to Denali National Park just two hours south, the Arctic Circle and Yukon River are an accessible four- to five-hour drive north. Road trips to colorful Interior towns and lodges are easily within reach and villages without road access, refuges and parks are just a short flight away. Visit singular places in the Arctic like Utqiagvik— the northernmost city in the U.S.—and Nome, Fort Yukon, Anaktuvuk Pass, Coldfoot and Gates of the Arctic National Park. Alaska’s Interior is filled with historic sites and charming places like Nenana, Delta Junction, Chicken and Tok. Auto rentals, air and ground transportation, guided ecotours, fishing and boat charters and wildlife tours can be arranged through professional outfitters. Go on a late-summer polar bear tour, float a mighty river, fly fish a remote stream, take a flight to see glorious mountain and glacier views or simply be still in some wild place and take in nature’s extraordinary gifts. Let the warmth of our people guide you through Alaska’s vast and beautiful lands.

The jaw dropping landscape that fills Interior and Far North Alaska is a continuous pull to travel through these areas. Exploring here is more than an adventure; it’s a state of mind, allowing me to experience wildlife patterns and tundra vegetation that the majority of humans will never witness. This wilderness has the ability to make me feel equally insignificant and important, a reminder to be a more kind, respectful human. I truly hope more people are able to see firsthand the phenomena that is pristine Interior and Arctic Alaska.
