2018 Shane Doherty Memorial Tri-State Masters set for 26th year T
he Tri-State Masters Tournament, held in the Mildura Region (Sunraysia) for the past 25 years will take place again for the 26th time in May 2018 from the Sunday 20th until Friday 25th. The Tournament is now recognized as “The SHANE DOHERTY MEMORIAL TriState Masters” in honour of the founder and original tournament director, Shane Doherty. Over 6,710 people have converged on the Mildura Region over the past 25 years to participate in this festival of golf and social activities. The Tri-State Masters attracts people from all over Australia and New Zealand with no less than 298 different golf clubs being represented since 1993. The golf will be played from May 20 - 25, 2018, on Monday at Riverside Golf Club, Red Cliffs Golf Club on Wednesday and Coomealla Golf Club on Friday. There
is also an optional 4BBB at Mildura Golf Resort on Tuesday and four-person Ambrose at Coomealla Golf Club on Thursday. Optional social functions are conducted each night, giving the competitors and their partners the choice of relaxing at their leisure or socializing with old and new friends. In 2017 golfers and non-playing partners representing over 82 different golf clubs converged on Mildura to compete for over $250,000 in hole-in-one prizes, trophies, teams prizes and door prizes that were offer. In 2016 there were two holes-in-one during the week of the tournament, $10,000 cash and a Yamaha Golf Cart valued at $10,000 and in 2015 when there had also been two holesin-one, a Harley Davidson XG500 Street bike valued at $10,000 and a Honda Jazz car valued at $18,000 were the prizes that year. Prior to 2015 and 2016, in the
previous 22 years of the event, there had only been seven holes-in-one and none since 2007. The Tri-State Masters targets mid-range adult (over 18 years) amateur club golfers who are looking for a golfing holiday in which they can combine golf and social interaction with other like-minded golfers from all over Australia and New Zealand. The trophies and prizes on offer are arguably the best in any amateur golf tournament in Australia. The tournament is only a few months away and the indication is many of

Handara Golf & Resort Ibnu Sutowo, revered as the father of ‘Golf in Indonesia’, started building Bali Handara Country Club to share his passion for golf and to provide employment for the local community. In 1976, after two years of construction, the club opened its doors to welcome golfers from around the world. Golf & Gourmet Play with the locals! Innovative Australian Golf Tour Operator, Golf & Gourmet has introduced a new style of tour for 2018. Golf & Gourmet’s luxury touring coach lets a professional coach captain do the driving. The golf courses which are included in the program are very good local clubs; at some locations you will get to play with local members, either in their club competitions or against a local team assembled by the club. After golf there is ample time to join your playing partners for a drink and catering provided by Golf & Gourmet. Accommodation chosen is motel or resort-style located near to local attractions.
