Members being mailed director election ballots
North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) will conduct the election for the open system-at-large board of directors seat by mail.
Members will receive an envelope with the NAEC logo from Survey & Ballot Systems around the third week of May. The Minnesota company is handling the election and tabulation of votes on behalf of NAEC.
Along with the ballot, the envelope will include the 2022 Annual Report, candidate biographies and a prepaid postage return envelope to mail the ballot to Survey & Ballot Systems. Ballots cannot be given to NAEC. They must be mailed to Survey & Ballot Systems and received by June 15 to be considered valid.
Members on the nominating committee reviewed résumés of interested people and nominated Heather Knight Loftis of Mountain Home for the systemat-large position. Petitions were due April 21, which was after the newsletter’s print deadline. Results will be published at naeci.com and in the newsletter.
The 2023 Annual Meeting will entail only a business session at the co-op’s Salem headquarters at 10 a.m. June 20.
Members can watch the meeting live at naeci.com; a recording also will be available online following the meeting.

Download NAEC app to report outage, pay bill, view usage
North Arkansas Electric Cooperative's mobile app allows members to pay their electric bills, report outages and view their kilowatt hour (kWh) usage from their phone or tablet.
The free NAEC app is available for both iPhone and Android phone owners. The log-in credentials for the app are the same as the portal accessed at naeci.com.
Members who never have established log-in credentials can create a user ID and password on the app by clicking "New User" under the "Menu" button. They then enter their account number, last four digits of the phone number on file, email address on file and other account information so that the system can verify their identity. Please note: NAEC must have an email address, phone number and Social Security number on file for the process to work.
The new password must be between six and 10 characters and have at least one uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number and special character. The user ID must have at least one letter and one number.
Members who have forgotten their password can reset it on the app by clicking "Forgot Password" under the "Menu" button. Email info@naeci. com or call 870-895-3221 for assistance. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY TIP OF THE MONTH
The thermostat’s location can impact an HVAC system’s ability to maintain an ideal temperature. For maximum accuracy, thermostats should be placed in the center of the home, away from air vents, plumbing pipes and exterior doors. Avoid placing items, such as lamps and TVs, near your thermostat. They can cause the HVAC to run longer than necessary. Avoid installing thermostats in rooms that tend to feel warmer or colder than the rest of the home. Don’t place furniture in front of the thermostat, which can block air flow and result in inaccurate readings. — energy.gov
