….Which is why we like to have fun at Northland Christian—like Mrs. Cole and her preschoolers meeting first responders. And we also consider serving others fun too. Check out these terrific opportunities our students had this past school year:

Ministry Days & Service NCS has three ministry days a year for high school students. Partnering with ministries throughout the city, students are able to serve and are also exposed to missions with the hope that they will consider ways to get involved outside of school. In addition NC has a church partner day where students serve local churches. Elementary teachers incorporate ministry throughout the curriculum, field trips, etc. For instance, K-2 students collected candy attached Bible verses and sent to members of the military.

Summer 2016 Progress Report

Missions Trips NCS offers two mission trips for high school students. During the past school year, 23 students traveled to a reservation in New Mexico and an additional 24 students participated in the international mission trip to Dominican Republic. Thanks to everyone who helped make these events possible through prayer, financial support and coordination.

Northland Christian School is progressing on a new facility near Shoal Creek Parkway and Highway 169. Below are the highlights on the current status. We appreciate continued prayers for this undertaking.

Funding  

To date, NCS has raised $3.5 million – original goal was $4 million. Of the total raised, $2.6 million will go to construction, while the remaining $900,000 is dedicated for current and future operations $1.2 million of the total has been pledged but not yet received. NCS has an immediate need for $500,000 or more to begin construction

Design NCS just graduated its tenth class. The school has enjoyed a six percent increase in enrollment for the past five years. For some perspective on growth, NCS had 60 students in middle/high school in 2009 and in the upcoming year, 110 students are enrolled in high school.

To reduce cost on the initial phase, the following changes have been made from the original plan. See design layout. Relocate building so entrance and exit are both off frontage road Reduce the size of the facility to 44,000 sq. ft. (original plan had 77,000 sq. ft.) Current plan still includes 32 classrooms and gym and initially can accommodate

same number of students as previous design These changes reduce overall cost from $12 million to $7 million which includes site work, infrastructure, the facility, parking and furnishings. The school owes no debt on the land. NCS is receiving authorization for up to $5 million in bank loan financing.

The building and ECT teams continue great work on planning, permitting and launching the construction phase of the new facility.

“Great education, family, and community. Staff cares for each individual. Helps me express my talents. Mission trips that leave a lasting impact. Prayer is everywhere.” From NCS Teacher “I believe our school perfectly mixes a Biblical worldview with academic rigor.” From NCS Grandparent “Students have the opportunity to participate in anything they want to do. The smaller school allows for more personal connections with staff and other students. The Bible truths are taught at every grade level by every teacher.” Thanks to everyone who provided feedback in our 2016 survey. The results will be compared to other Christian schools across the country. The administration is carefully reviewing the input to determine what improvements can be made based on the suggestions provided.
