Serving up Savings The holiday season is just around the corner and soon, festive music will flood the airwaves, sparkling lights and decorations will adorn homes and businesses, and good tidings will abound. The holidays also bring a frenzy of decorating, cooking and family gatherings, and amid the hectic hustle and bustle, you may receive higher-than-usual energy bills. Here are a few programs and services to help you keep track of your energy usage and costs.

Take advantage of our Smarthub mobile app that empowers you to monitor your energy usage, manage your account and pay your energy bill conveniently through your phone. Smarthub is safe, secure and easy to install. It’s free to download in the Apple or Android app stores. You can also use Smarthub through our website at scaec.smarthub.coop. Smarthub is handy for reporting power outages, too.
Take the surprise out of your electric bill Holiday surprises are great, but not on your electric bill. Levelized Billing allows you to know what to expect each month. It does not reduce your usage or bill amount, but rather evens out your monthly charges, making them more manageable for your budget. With Levelized Billing, your electric bill charges are averaged over a year. This makes your electric service costs easier to budget because you receive approximately the same size bill each month. It’s beneficial for anyone on a budget or limited income, and it’s free and easy to enroll.
More assistance If you think your home is regularly using too much energy, contact us for a free energy audit. A walk-through audit can diagnose areas of your home that have high-energy consumption. By identifying problem areas, we can recommend ways to lower your usage and reduce your electric bill. For members who qualify, payment assistance with winter bills may be available through programs like the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Contact your local Community Action Agency (acaaa.org) for more information.
We’re here to help We’re here to answer any questions you have about managing energy use or paying your monthly bills. Our member service representatives are always available to help, so give us a call at (800) 814-2931, if you’d like to learn about specific programs and services. From your friends at South Central Arkansas Electric, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
