The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) works to alleviate hunger in Arlington County. AFAC is the only organization in Arlington devoted solely to providing dignified access to nutritious, supplemental groceries – free of charge – for our neighbors in need. In doing so, AFAC makes it possible for vulnerable families in our community to devote their limited resources to financial obligations such as housing, utilities, medication and transportation.

AFAC is currently serving more than 2,200 families each week at 18 distribution sites throughout the County. For more information regarding access to food, or ways to support our mission, please visit our website.

Doorways’ comprehensive approach provides safe shelter and housing, life-changing support services, and community advocacy, resulting in new beginnings for thousands of parents and their children. Doorways range of emergency and ongoing services help women, men and children recover from trauma while developing the skills needed for long-term safety and stability. Kristina Dorville - Best Coach Over the last ten years, I have had the honor of being the Head Swim Coach at Washington-Lee High School. In that time, things have changed - we have built a program from 35 kids to almost 100, we have a new facility, won a District title (or three!), broken most of the school records, and tripled our numbers of kids at States. But what I am most intensely proud of is the swim and dive family that we have created. We may be known for being loud, we may be intense, we may wear silly socks – but we stick together when things are tough, we support one another, and we always try to have fun.
