WELCOME TO TINY TOTS! Children are welcome to move during the program. Feel free to let little ones get up, dance, and participate in the interactive moments. Adults are expected to remain seated throughout the program unless there is an emergency. Some instruments are quite fragile. Please do not touch (or let a child touch) a musician's instrument unless the musician offers for you to do so. Have any questions, comments, or concerns? Find a volunteer or staff member in a Christmas sweater and we'll be happy to help!
ABOUT US Inside the Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We firmly believe that introducing children to the world of music and the arts at a young age strengthens not only that child, but the community as a whole. In order to be inclusive of all children, we underwrite our concerts, thus providing experiences that are otherwise unavailable to many children, communities, and schools.
OUR MAIN PROGRAMS Our programs get children "inside the orchestra" by seating them on the floor and surrounding them with professional musicians and performers. Programs include diverse music and feature guest artists from other cultural organizations.
Tiny Tots Designed for children six and under. Tiny Tots seats the audience inside of a 30+ piece orchestra. Programs are held in locations all around the Denver metro area, from Castle Pines to Boulder and in between.
Inside the Orchestra for Schools
A 14-16 piece orchestra outreach program for k-8 schools. The repertoire and approach to learning are designed to support and enhance school curricula. We offer this program in English and Spanish/English bilingual formats.
Additional Programs Inside the Orchestra offers programs for children with sensory processing disorders in partnership with the Autism Society, programs for home school students in kindergarten through 8th grade, and - for the grownups - we have one exciting adults-only event per year, Inside the Orchestra for Adults.

PROGRAM NOTES IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS Get into the festive mood with this piece, featuring our brass section. CHRISTMAS CANON This piece, arranged by our conductor, blends Pachelbel's famous Canon in D with a number of Christmas carols. This piece features the string section let's all pretend to play the violin. RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER - SINGALONG All of Santa's reindeer, except for Rudolph, first appeared in "’Twas the Night Before Christmas," written in 1823, but Rudolph wasn’t created until 1939. Johnny Marks then composed this famous song based on that story 10 years later in 1949. Sing along with the orchestra. CHRISTMAS IN THE KITCHEN This piece combines holiday favorites with some everyday kitchen items: pots and pans and water glasses. This results in a silly piece that shows kids they can make music with whatever they have available. Tap on things around you to make music and then watch as we feature the percussion section during this piece. CAROL OF THE BELLS This Christmas carol is based on the Ukrainian folk chant "Shchedryk" and was adapted into a full carol by a Ukranian composer. It has been widely arranged for many different ensembles and instruments. Listen to the sounds of Christmas. JINGLE BELLS - SINGALONG Jingle Bells was written by James Pierpont in the 1850s. It is said he was inspired by horse-drawn sleigh races that were a tradition in a town where he lived. Fun fact: this was the first piece performed in outer space! Sing along with the orchestra. THE NUTCRACKER - WALTZ OF THE FLOWERS AND TREPAK The Nutcracker is one of the most famous ballets today but it was not very popular until the 1960s even though it was written in 1892. Show us your best dance moves and watch as dancers from Kim Robards Dance join us.
CONT. MARCH OF THE TOYS This piece was written for the operetta (a mini-opera) Babes in Toyland. When the operetta was turned into a movie by Laurel and Hardy in 1934, this was one of the only original songs to make it in. March along like toys come to life. CHRISTMAS WALTZ This piece was written for Frank Sinatra in 1954. A waltz is a piece of music with 3 beats per measure. Let's sway back and forth to the beat. POLAR EXPRESS The Polar Express soundtrack, from the movie premiered in 2004, is the best selling holiday movie soundtrack ever written. Hop about your makebelieve train and chug along during this next piece. MI BURRITO SABANERO Mi Burrito Sabanero, The Little Donkey from the Savannah, is a Christmas song from Venezuela that is very popular in Latin American countries. Listen as we feature the woodwind section at the beginning of this piece. FROSTY THE SNOWMAN - SINGALONG Frosty the Snowman was written in 1950, a year after Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer premiered to great success. The songwriters were trying to create another popular Christmas hit and they definitely succeeded! Sing along with the orchestra. ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU Not only is this piece the #1 most streamed holiday song in the US but it is also the top-selling Christmas song of all time! Sing and dance along during this piece. SLEIGH RIDE Though it's one of the most famous orchestra holiday songs ever, Leroy Anderson actually started writing this piece in a sunny, hot July! Throughout the piece, listen to galloping horses from the percussion section and their neighing sounds from the trumpets. Welcome Santa on stage to conduct!

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Had a very shiny nose And if you ever saw it You would even say it glows All of the other reindeer Used to laugh and call him names They never let poor Rudolph Join in any reindeer games Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say, Rudolph with your nose so bright, Won't you guide my sleigh tonight Then how all the reindeer loved him, As they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the red-nose Reindeer You'll go down in history
Jingle Bells Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh, hey! Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh, hey! Dashing through the snow In a one-horse open sleigh Over the fields we go Laughing all the way Bells on bob-tail ring Making spirits bright What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh, hey! Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh, hey! Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh, hey! Jingle bells, jingle bells Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh, hey!
Frosty the Snowman Frosty the Snowman Was a jolly happy soul With a corncob pipe and a button nose And his eyes made out of coal Frosty the Snowman Is a fairy-tale they say He was made of snow but the children know How he came to life that day There must have been some magic In that old silk hat they found For when they placed it on his head He began to dance around Frosty the Snowman Was alive as he could be And the children say He could laugh and play Just the same as you and me Thumpety thump thump Thumpety thump thump Look at Frosty go Thumpety thump thump Thumpety thump thump Over the hills of snow
