• We have 70% kids on free and reduced lunch programs, the kids at our school speak over 25 different languages and we have many children of color. We generally serve families in our neighborhood, which is Hampden Heights and surrounding areas. Most of our students had never heard live music, much less been introduced to instruments, etc. • Part of that US integration is positive American experiences. Inside the Orchestra Programs do just that - they provide positive and motivational musical and academic experiences. Even when students cannot express themselves with English, they can express themselves with music. The programs were enjoyed by students and staff alike. • The kids are still talking about the concert days later! They loved getting to 'meet' so many different instruments, hear them alone and then together, see how dancers move differently with music, and hear singers interact with different instruments. This fit perfectly with our new science unit on sound. It was also great exposure for kids who have never had the opportunity to attend a concert or to hear music like this. • We serve many children who do not have exposure or opportunity to explore music. This grant made it possible to have an experience they would not likely get at home. Thank you! • We are a high poverty school and many of our students do not have access to musical instruments, dance and choir programs. This program is a great way for our kids to experience the arts when they otherwise not have access to it. • Please note that for our students your program may be closest they will ever have the opportunity to be a part of an orchestra. • Thank you for the materials so that our music teacher could extend the lesson.

• My favorite elements were: • •
1) the bilingual program - the way both Spanish and English were woven together during the program. 2) sitting inside of the instruments and being able to see all of the instruments close up.
• I really enjoyed the conducting session. I saw so much interest and participation! I also really enjoyed watching the student conductor lead the group. The selection of pieces was great and were performed excellently. • What stood out to me about the program were all the ways that orchestra members went out of their way to engage with and connect with our students. The way the conductor effortlessly incorporated English and Spanish into his presentation was so beautiful, and I hope that it made our students who are bilingual feel loved and seen. The FUN that the musicians brought to their performance was such a great fit for the age ranges of our students. Sitting in the middle of the orchestra, with new things popping up all around allowed little bodies to move and wiggle, and I was so grateful to see that their developmental age was acknowledged and validated, that it's ok for them to want to move, and in fact, the performance was planned to accommodate that. I could go on and on. • The beautiful music performed by such talented musicians. The conductor was friendly and personable. He was able to capture the attention of every student! • It was fantastic to have a conductor and performers who had a great personalities and were great with kids!!! My favorite element was that our students had the opportunity to see a dancer and hear an opera singer along with the orchestra! I also enjoyed seeing our students participate in the interactive elements of conducting and answering trivia questions. The instrument showcase supported the music and science curriculum at our school as well. • My only hope is that we have the opportunity to participate again in future years.

• The concept of Inside the Orchestra was incredibly engaging - surrounding students with the artists connected the students in a unique way. It was far more engaging than having the performers up front and separated by the invisible barrier of the stage. The artists themselves showed a true joy in their performance. The conductor was absolutely incredible. He engaged our students in both English and Spanish, which was absolutely amazing, and his enthusiasm and overall approach made the musical concepts much more accessible to our students. The highlight of the program for the students was the Opera singer's engagement of the kids as he sang Figaro. He interacted with the kids in a way that brought a huge smile to everyone's face. The kids talked about it all through recess.
• The bilingual program was amazing! We loved the way Steven flowed in and out of Spanish. It was a great model for what ourcteachers can do with our English language learners. I also loved how kid friendly all of the musicians were! • The bilingual element was so beneficial to our students, over half of whom are ESL with a home language of Spanish. I appreciated Sara's communication skills and flexibility with what accommodations we could provide as a school. The variety of music and instruments was also a pleasure, as students rarely have the opportunity to see those instruments up close. The beautiful music performed by such talented musicians. The conductor was friendly and personable. He was able to capture the attention of every student! • The set up is key. It is very engaging to students. We REALLY appreciated having the conductor visible, and including a dancer and vocalist. These tools help us reach ALL kinds and their interests. • You do an extraordinary job of engaging, educating and entertaining students. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!! • I am so grateful for the programming you provide. It is a true blessing to the students (and to the staff). I'm certain that your availability is limited by resources, both human and financial, but I would wish that you could/would/can/will serve even more schools, especially our neediest, most disadvantaged schools.

• Thank you for your efforts to bring quality events to little ones to expand their minds and experiences. Very rewarding. • It was a laid back, intimate experience with an orchestra. • Honestly I loved all of it, and cannot pick MY favorite. • The arrangement of the room made every seat a good seat. The musicians were approachable as well as talented. The woman who master of ceremonies was incredible, welcoming, entertaining and energetic. • I and my grandchild had a wonderful adventure, she is still talking about her visit. • Thank you SO much for providing this; I recommend it to all my friends! • Thank you for all that you do to provide opportunities to learn about music and the arts! • It all was great! It was so smoothly run. I loved that the songs were short and kept the kids attention. The musicians were so nice at the end to the kids. • We have really enjoyed this program for many years.

• Quality performance, humor & friendliness of the artists and volunteers, beautiful & spacious venue- Tiny Tots is an incredible experience and gift to my children! • Thank you for another wonderful show! It is the only activity I do with my son that he is calm for when he usually is running around the room. • Thank you for offering a quality program to the community. • The theme and overall organization of the entire event! Bravo to those who organized everything from venue, to emails, to packet with activities, to program, to staging and orientation, coordinating dancers and vocalists, physical movements for kids, costumes for narrator, and orchestra pieces and players! • It was wonderful, and the kids are begging to go again. • The size of the venue was good. Everyone working there seemed to want us to be happy and satisfied (I am handicapped) and we were. • Every single person affiliated with this group was kind, efficient and pleasant…I was blown away with the kindness of all involved even before we entered the concert.

• I loved that the different sections of the orchestra were introduced and a representative instrument played, and that they had different colored shirts. I enjoyed having the percussionist featured on the stage. Most of all I appreciated going around to all the instruments, having the musicians introduce their instrument to us, and playing it so that the children could hear how it sounded. Thanks musicians for staying to play for us!!! • My child loved the live music as well as the free environment to move, get up, look all around him, and experience the music in a physical way. • Thank you! We love, love Tiny Tots!!! Thank you for bringing the music alive. It makes such an impression. • Thank you! My son is dancing in our living room to Vivaldi as I respond to this survey. • Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience and opportunity to expose our kids to orchestra music. We love Tiny Tots! • I enjoyed that the orchestra was seated around the kids instead of the traditional stage set up. This allowed all the kids to be 'close to the action’ • Thank you! We love, love Tiny Tots!!! Thank you for bringing the music alive. It makes such an impression.
