Being a fresher, people have many expectations from their first job as this is the first time they are interacting in the professional environment.

With new opportunities, the corporate world put a lot of challenges as well, in front of the freshers. Overcoming these challenges becomes a major task due to a lack of guidance from college, friends, and family. They need to work on their problem-solving skills in order to stand still during this time. Many institutes teach the students how they can overcome the challenges when they join the corporate world. But not every student can implement the generalised tips as there are a number of different obstacles, which they need to overcome every day. Below we have listed the major challenges, which freshers encounter while initialising their professional journey. Lack of Practical Knowledge When the freshers enter the corporate world, they have a lack of practical knowledge. The reason behind this is, they have never worked on real-life projects. They have only learnt what the universities taught them. They gained a lot of theoretical knowledge but never implemented that knowledge. The freshers expect the companies to train them according to the needs. But there are many companies, which do not train the employees and directly handovers the tasks to be done. This affects the confidence of the freshers as they do not know what the company’s requirements are. To solve this, training should be given to the freshers by the companies to polish their knowledge and understand their capabilities. Problem in Working as a Team In a professional work environment, working as a team is an essential quality. The entire team needs to work

in harmony in order to serve the best to clients or the company. But being a fresher, working as a team with the new colleagues and managers is a challenging task. The freshers do not know how to match their thinking with the colleagues. This becomes a more challenging task if the person is introvert. They need to learn the right words and situations to start the communication and match the working style and speed with the subordinates. Lack of Job Satisfaction As a fresher, there are chances that the students do not get the domain they want to work for. This might disappoint the freshers and they might not do their job with interest and creativity. Sometimes, the companies also ask them to complete a task different from the role assigned to them. It may happen that initially the freshers love their job. But after some time, they start realising that they have chosen the wrong field. Consequently, freshers leave their job. But taking this decision is not wise. The companies must understand the situation of its employees. The freshers should also talk to the company and take decisions with calm mind. Adapting the Workplace Culture Being new in the professional environment, it becomes difficult for the freshers to adapt the new surroundings. There are chances that the workplace, company’s ethics, and protocols does not suite the freshers. The workload may impact their productivity negatively. Consequently,

they may feel that the management is not co-operative towards solving their problems. In such a scenario, the freshers might lose their creativity and interest in learning. To solve this issue, the freshers and company should communicate. This may build up a transparent and a positive system in the company. Frightened to Plan Career If a fresher is satisfied with their first job, the process of learning should never stop. It is important for them to think about the future. They must learn the skills, which may help them grow in the company. The freshers feel anxious about planning the future. During this anxiety, they do not map the proper and relevant career path. The anxiety may stop their growth and learning process in the company. In this case, freshers must seek help from the experts in the industry and get a proper guidance for mapping the right career path. The most common problem, which freshers face after entering the corporate sector is difficulty in expressing their opinions. They might have a different and right viewpoint towards any topic. But they hesitate to express it because they feel that the management is more knowledgeable. These problems must be addressed by the company. ‘Communication’ is the key to overcome these hurdles and offer a transparent work system. With better strategical implementation, not just the university curriculum and the value-added courses made way into the college curriculum; even aspects of personality development were incorporated as part of the Finishing School Curriculum. Taking Necessary Measures Since the start of the pandemic, Krupanidhi institution has been very vigilant in keeping its students and staff safe. Whilst online mode of classes was active, remote working was adopted for as long as possible. New COVID-19 related guidelines were put in place once all the crowd came back to campus to ensure optimum safety of everyone involved. It also designed its own COVID care facility just to be prepared for any unforeseen situations. Regular sanitisation of the entire campus, thermal scanning at all entry points, hand sanitisers placed at different points was done. With compulsion on keeping masks on and maintaining social distancing at all times were some other efforts made to ensure maximum safety. A negative RT-PCR report was made mandatory to enter the campus, and Krupanidhi even conducted a vaccination drive for its staff and students free of cost to ensure optimum reach and coverage.
