ALP Aeroflex India Pvt. Ltd. A proud Swadeshi, Building the nation through innovative insulation products

W

hat are the qualities that make a company popular among customers and employees alike? The answer is its ability to innovate and keep raising the bar on account of dynamic solutions, product quality, safety, and sustainability. An admired company not only focuses on improving the bottom line but highly emphasizes on achieving excellence in customer satisfaction as well. These companies treat their workforce as most valuable assets and provide them with the opportunity to learn and grow professionally. One such renowned company, which is transforming the business through innovative insulation solutions, is none other than ALP Aeroflex India Pvt. Ltd. Incorporated in 2011, it is a technology leader in thermal and acoustic insulation solutions. It is a joint venture of ALP Overseas Pvt. Ltd., India, and Aeroflex Limited, Thailand. The company is a part of the USD 200 million ALP Group. ALP Aeroflex is a renowned name in the industry for its innovative insulation solutions. Pioneers in EPDM (Ethylene propylene diene monomer) solutions, their range also include NBR (Nitrile Butadiene) rubber insulation sheets, tubes, accessories, and roofing solutions. 18 | SEPTEMBER 2021 |

weather sealing products. At that time, there was a scarcity of good quality and modern solutions in insulation and acoustics application. In terms of material, only thermocoal and glass wool were used, which had countless limitations on performance and safety front. ALP Group launched its range of insulation products in NBR, an elastomeric rubber, which is not only very effective in cutting thermal transmission but are also energy efficient and safe. ALP Aeroflex, also offers a cutting-edge range of products in EPDM. The performance of this range is great due to its high thermal conductivity, energy efficiency, but what differentiates it to the other available solutions is its extreme durability, fire safety and environment friendly preposition. With this range, ALP Aeroflex is setting a new standard for the industry to follow. The Insightful Frontrunners The man behind ALP Aeroflex’s vision and growth is Mr. Iqbal Singh Anand, Chairman, ALP Group. Mr. Iqbal pioneered the ALP Group in the year 1985 and has been driving it with his expertise and unparalleled domain knowledge. He was one of the first persons to promulgate the EPDM technology in India. Mr. Anand graduated from the University of Delhi and inherited the business of automobile trade from his father, Late Dr. Rattan Singh Anand. Dr. Rattan is a visionary who ventured into the trading in the automotive components way back immediately after independence when the automobile industry was at a nascent stage in India. His foresighted thinking made the company venture into insulation products later which is now an integral business for the group. Taking the baton forward, the current operations are led by Mr. Rakesh Chauhan, COO – ALP Aeroflex (I) Pvt. Ltd. He carries over 25 years of experience in managing the

The 30 Most Admired Companies in 2021 business in the HVAC & AC&R industries. He has been a part of the HVAC Evolution journey and is one of the pioneers in the modern AC&R industry. In his past assignments, Mr. Rakesh has worked with Carrier Aircon, Voltas, Daikin, and LG Electronics. ElastoRoof and Elasto Under Deck, ALP Aeroflex’s wall and roofing insulation materials are engineered to provide excellent thermal insulation, energy-saving, and specifically made with environment safe materials to create only a positive impact on the environment.

ALP Aeroflex’s wide range of thermal insulation products cater to HVAC, roofing, solar, pharma, and process industries. Accosound and Accofoam are its leading product line for acoustic insulation; both are built with a convoluted shape to maximize the sound absorption area and effective barriers for sound transmission. While these two products are predominantly acoustic insulation materials, they are also good thermal insulation materials.

We are continually working towards raising a bar through our innovative, eco-friendly and safe products which caters to the ever-changing industry requirement

Overcoming the Pandemic Positively The management states, “The impact of disruption in the domestic demand & production for the first couple of months during this pandemic made our business suffer a slight impact.” However, the company’s inherent resilience to market fluctuations, cost-effective measures, and focus on developing new markets helped it overcome this impact in no time. The company also shares that the business is now picking up & growing beyond market expectations. Advice to the Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow Not only team ALP Aeroflex suggests the young generation of entrepreneurs to go online and to create unmatched buying and consumer experience, but also encourages them to embrace excellence and deliver the best. “The cost of doing business is going up, and in such times, it is critical to be flexible and nimble-footed. If one is able to keep learning and keep evolving every day, then success is not a far-off dream,” states the management. Future Steps Marching forward, the company plans to leverage its strength in polymers and diversify and bring newer solutions and cover all areas of infrastructure development, especially emerging sectors, be it airports and metros, factories, and office buildings. It also aims to focus on hotels, shopping malls, recreational areas, Hospitals and Pharma, and specialized infra projects, including nuclear and thermal power plants, solar /windmills, and high-speed rail networks. While retaining its hold with builders and developers in the HVAC space, ALP Aeroflex also has strong plans to be present in most of the segments of the construction industry as India moves forward.

Opportunities,

The 30 Most Admired Companies in India

A Firm with ABOVE THE EDGE Creative Capabilities

t is a golden time for the designing industry. Because of Covid-19, there is a shift in the market from traditional marketing to digital marketing. Designing is converting boundless imagination into an extraordinary reality. Design is a silent ambassador of the brand. Creating a brand out of a product is the main ingredient of the designing work. Today, everything has a digital footprint. A website is the first official introduction to the user. Brimbus helps to make a good impression with a smooth and meaningful interaction with people. It embraces design thinking, and it believes design thinking is an integral part of all processes, not just specific project activities. Brimbus was born out of like-minded people becoming what they are capable of and not controlled by a puppet master. The company has a base of 500+ clients globally, 20+ empanelled with brands as its creative agency. The company provides ABOVE THE EDGE Brand identity, Product Package designing, and 3D Visualisation. It helps to increase employee productivity, clarity of purpose in the work, and the process and organisational energy. And it gives a sense of empathy to see things from the customer's point of view, which results in a better outcome.

www.insightssuccess.in | 23

Exciting Launch Brimbus is an idea that was sparked in a group of college students in the year 2008. In the beginning, the company was not named Brimbus, but it was just a group of likeminded people bonded with ideologies, which brought out a similar outcome. The team’s idea was to not work under any boss once graduated. All the members wanted to do what they are good at. All the members had a unique skill set and were able to sync together whenever there was a project on the table. Since the inception the team had only one goal, to become a successful bootstrapped agency in the world of design. So far, the journey was filled with excitement, experiments, and creativity. Creative Chiefs Brimbus is headed by three key personals, Mr. Ashish Mathur, an animation artist by profession, selftaught marketing expert. He started as an animation artist, but he turned into a notorious marketing and NBD expert for the company. Clients love him. Mr Rahul Kumar, the curly-haired creative director of the company, who is a born designer turned into a brand strategy specialist. He has guided many Indian and international brands to achieve their dream brand identity and still doing the same with an open heart. Mr Srikanth Vuttaradi, a simple looking creative head and a geeky 3D artist. He has a mathematic-o-phobia. Basically, he hates mathematics (theory) but loves to calculate it in his work with technical 3D Maths. Since inception he has shapeshifted into many roles helping in projects, which has broadened his area of expertise from 3D to design. Out of the Box Thinking “In the year 2008, an idea was planted or embedded in all students, you should be an engineer and you should have a good job, you should work hard, and all the other typical sayings. Nobody explained, why only an engineer, why not a space scientist or a musician or an artist, why to have a good job, why not a Self-owned business, and why work hard, why not work smart! We were of this mindset WHY NOT. We wanted to start our studio and wanted to earn on our own. But it was not as easy as we thought. The roads were rough,” says the team of Brimbus. Different Approach towards Designs The team thinks that technology is a luxury that everyone should experience. The company has always combined

24 | SEPTEMBER 2021 |

traditional design methods with innovative technologies to bring out something unique to give its clients a bespoke result. There are many ways to design a logo, but the team makes sure that the logo, which they make is compatible with digital and print media both and have a long life in this competitive world. A logo will fade away if it only uses traditional thinking. It should add some freshness to it as much as possible. Similarly, a project needs a technological approach to give it a more challenging outlook. Challenges in Bootstrapping There were many challenges in the way while establishing the company. Lack of knowledge in clients about branding, the importance of good brand design, and unskilled competition were the major ones. The company had to cross all these challenges to reach where it is right now. People need to understand that designs are not free, skill is not free. A lot of potential clients were attacked by false people with false knowledge about designing is done in minutes. The false play included that logo design is made in a day, corporate videos are finished within a day, websites are made in a day or two without any content, etc, these issues are still lurking in the Indian market and many businesses. The company took it as its duty to educate the clients about the design research and process. The company followed this problem and made the clients familiar with the design world. The team of Brimbus loves it when a client understands its brand through a design perspective. Shining in the Pandemic The company was not at all affected by the pandemic. The pandemic proved to be positive for it. Talking about business, branding, and website is a major part of the business and the company was overloaded with projects. After the pandemic every business wanted to go online and have its presence. Pandemic taught the world that all can do good business even from a room within comfort boundries and safe zone. Big Aspirations The future plans of Brimbus is to spread the reach to every major city in India and Abroad expanding its team in the coming few years, becoming one of the best bespoke branding agencies of all time. “Follow your dreams, work hard to achieve it and at the same time enjoy your life and present. This time will never come back,” says the team.

How

Impacts Consumer Retention?

B

rands and organizations are becoming increasingly conscious that their packaging has a purpose other than utility; it is also a smart and powerful marketing tool for those who know how to use it. Packaging boxes are much more important in online/eCommerce firms, as every purchase must be sent in them. Product packaging has a significant influence on sales. The marketplace is competitive, and there are advantages for firms whose packaging catches the attention of customers. It also protects items while they are in transportation, in stores, and being utilized by customers. With so much at stake, businesses would be prudent to consider how their product packaging would influence their customers and place a high value on it. Let us jot down few of the important things that helps businesses retain customers through packaging.

28 | SEPTEMBER 2021 |

Packaging Insights

www.insightssuccess.in | 29

Ÿ

Packaging Draws Attention

Brands frequently sell more items as a result of the packaging they employ. For example, it is reasonable to expect that face wash and toothpaste will clean a person’s face and teeth, respectively. However, when people are standing at a store in front of several different brands, trying to decide which one to buy, the first thing they notice is the product packaging. Packaging that catches their attention and emphasizes the worth of the product frequently generates greater sales due to the amount of attention it receives. Ÿ

Packaging Protects Product

Companies invest significant effort and money in research and development for the items they sell. Some companies also invest significant money in marketing to discover the most effective strategies to sell their items to their most probable buyers. Some, on the other hand, would profit significantly from investing more on the packaging they employ to preserve their items because damage happens during shipment, in shops, and during routine customer usage. This leads in lost income as well as dissatisfied consumers. Ÿ

Packaging Reflects Quality

The quality of a product’s packaging typically reflects its integrity, quality, and validity. An easy approach to illustrate this is to ask someone to think of a high-quality product that they might buy in a retail store. What effect would it have on their trust in purchasing it if it was sold in a simple paper bag, especially if they had never used it before? They would most likely doubt its honesty, quality, and authenticity, and then pick an alternative about which they could readily learn more. However, when product packaging is beautiful, of high quality, and communicates an enticing, convincing value proposition to prospective customers, the product it represents often sells more frequently.

30 | SEPTEMBER 2021 |

Ÿ

Packaging Informs Prospective Buyers

Consumers usually appreciate firms that include statements on product packaging informing them of facts and other important information about items they are considering purchasing. Precise, trustworthy information is beneficial, and consumers who are aware of what they are purchasing are more confidenct in their decisions. Many customers like to buy items that look nice when they are exhibited in their homes. This is especially true if the product will be on display for a lengthy period of time. Many customers prefer to spend their money on items from firms that they think share their views and values. Consumers will occasionally spend a little extra money to acquire items from firms that display attractive aesthetics and favorable values on product packaging. Ÿ

Packaging helps Exceed Customer’s Expectation

By adding an unexpected extra effort when it comes to packaging, you grasp the customers attention, which is great as a first impression. And while selling, the first impression is equally important as the last impression. Besides, the product packaging offering represents your brand’s ability to deliver a value experience. This entails that your customers will not essentially return as your product was good, but because the packaging sells the message that you can always deliver enticing value. By surpassing your customers’ expectations, you can easily set yourself beyond your competitors in the mind of your clients.

Dabur has implemented several initiatives as part of its project, including: Chyawanprash, which is now available in fruit-flavored and sugar-free varieties, Honitus Hot Sip: An Ayurvedic Kaadha in ready-to-mix powder form, is now available, PudinHara Fizz digestives are now available, Chyawanprash is now being launched in a tablet form. This program has been one of Dabur's most powerful development drivers in recent years, helping to bring Ayurveda to every family. Mohit has spent most of his career outside of India, in a completely different setting. Covid, a black swan occurrence, created an inflection point in the company, bringing about adjustments and transformation. Covid, in reality, worked as a change agent. The firm has become considerably more flexible, swift on its feet, and fast in its execution than it was previously. Dabur has increased its risk-taking capacity under his leadership, transitioning from a scared to a fearless mentality.

international revenues account for 27% of overall revenue. Employee Safety and Well-Being With the advent of COVID, Dabur gave its staff quick access to its line of immunity-boosting medications via dedicated counters put up in workplaces. The biometric attendance system was suspended at all sites, and all domestic and international travel cancelled. It reinforced safe behavior throughout its sites by restricting the number of gatherings/meetings and preventing external visits to the premises, in addition to requesting staff to avoid inperson meetings and encouraging video conferencing. Infrared non-contact temperature sensors were supplied to security staff at all Dabur offices to screen the workers and guests accessing the property. Elevator buttons, door handles, handrails, bathroom faucets, and other high-contact locations were sanitized on a regular basis. The company’s employees were provided help with hospitalization and mediclaim in the event of a Covidrelated emergency. As the number of Covid cases in the country increased, Dabur became the first company to announce Work from Home for all office-based workers beginning March 15, 2020. Dabur created work from home guidelines to provide easy advice on how to be extremely effective when working from home. It established a regular communication channel with all workers, via which top management communicated regularly, telling them about different health and safety

updates, Dabur advancements, and the company's attempts to address the Covid-related problem. The company’s managers were urged to get in touch with the staff regularly, not just for business purposes, but also to inquire about their health and wellbeing. Employees were also given computer gear and IT assistance to guarantee that business could continue as usual even during the shutdown. With the appearance of the second, more severe wave of the Covid pandemic, the business reiterated its commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all Dabur family members. In the unfortunate event of any of its employees succumbing to COVID, Dabur decided to support their family with continued monthly salary for one year, in addition to the Company's term insurance cover. While the firm recognizes that this cannot compensate for the loss, it believes that this modest effort will help the family get through this difficult time. It has also launched various measures to preserve its employees' health and well-being. Some of these are as follows: The company procured oxygen cylinders and Covid-relevant allopathic and homeopathic medications, which were made accessible to its workers for personal or family members’ use in the event that they were unable to arrange the same. The company made sure that the procured oxygen concentrators (both 5-ltr and 10-ltr) must be given to members of the Dabur family immediately in the event of an emergency.

The company has also set up oxygen generating units with cylinder filling capacity. Its guest cottages were converted into Covid isolation units, complete with oxygen concentrators and cylinders, nurse personnel, ICU supplies, and medicine. Dabur signed a contract with ambulance providers to ensure that its employees and their families have access to an ambulance in the event of an emergency. It established specific isolation facilities near its production plants to assist not just its personnel but also members of the neighborhood. Dabur introduced split shift, which is operational at its production plants, providing essential operators alternate days off. The company continued to operate a dedicated Covid helpline with the assistance of healthcare at home (HCAH) to provide qualified medical experts, doctor consultations, RT-PCR testing and sample collection, home isolation programmes, and immunisation support to its workers, and their immediate family members. Dabur partnered with local hospitals in locations around the country to ensure that its employees and their families had access to physical medical care. Vaccination drives were organised for the company’s workers and their families over the age of 45. With the immunisation programme being extended to all adults, it collaborated with hospitals to make the vaccination procedure easier for all of its employees and their families. In addition to covering the vaccine costs, it provided its employees with the Covid vaccination special leave. Dabur implemented a separate insurance system for its 3,200 frontline

workers who are not on Dabur's payroll. It also offered Rs one lakh in mediclaim coverage to 650 C&FA workers.

Believe in your ideas, have faith in your work and build a team of likeminded people who believe in your dream A Corporate Giant’s Tale Dr. S. K. Burman, a physician in Bengal, launched the Dabur tale with a tiny yet imaginative endeavour. He aimed to serve regular people in remote communities with excellent and cheap treatment. Dr. Burman began the work of creating natural remedies for the deadly illnesses of the day, such as cholera, malaria, and plague, with missionary enthusiasm and fervour. Soon, word of his medications spread, and he became renowned as the dependable Daktar or Doctor, who devised successful treatments. That is how his company, Dabur, acquired its name - taken from Daktar Burman’s Devanagri version. Dr. Burman founded Dabur in 1884 to manufacture and distribute Ayurvedic medicines. Reaching out to a large group of people who did not have access to adequate care. Dr. S. K. Burman’s dedication and tireless work culminated in the company’s transformation from beginning as a pharmaceutical producer in a modest Calcutta (now Kolkata) bungalow, to a household name that immediately invokes confidence and trustworthiness. In preparation for a new system in which the family's direct engagement is limited, the Burmans established a family council, which serves as a liaison between the family and Dabur's board of directors and management. The engagement of family members has undergone a qualitative shift, with new members encouraged to establish their own companies. These suggested enterprises are then offered to the family council for approval, as well as funding a competent management team capable of launching Dabur onto a higher development path. As a result, the Burman family has reduced its direct engagement in day-to-day activities, allowing a group of capable executives to run the firm and guide its destiny.

Brand Building Newspapers were banned from most houses in the early days of the lockdown due to concerns about the spread of Covid-19, and consumers stayed riveted to news channels for the most up-to-date information on the pandemic. While most entertainment channels saw a decline in viewership, the national broadcaster Doordarshan won favour with viewers when it began to repeat telecasts of classic historical serials from the past, such as Ramayan and Mahabharat, with these programmes topping viewing statistics. Response to this Changing Landscape Heavy ads were pushed into Doordarshan, particularly on historical serials like Ramayana and Mahabharat, which were attracting a lot of attention. To top it all off, it redesigned its brand communications to emphasise the immunity building and germ killing characteristics of Dabur products. Special social messages and films were produced to honour frontline corona warriors such as police officers, health care professionals, sanitation workers, and so on. Dabur and its numerous health care businesses, as the original custodians of Ayurveda, put together unique educational and public interest films for social media, stressing the benefits of Ayurveda in battling Covid-19, further strengthening Dabur's credentials in the immunity-building field.

www.insightssuccess.in | 37

Dabur created customised ‘Slice of Life' films using home movies and recorded within houses using handheld cameras and mobile phones to reach out to millennials on social media during the lockdown. For example, using its culinary brand homemade, the business collaborated with top celebrity chefs to produce a series of simple dishes that consumers could attempt at home during the lockdown. During the shutdown, Dabur Amla Hair Oil launched a new digital ad focused on strengthening ties with loved ones. As part of this, the firm requested that customers share their favourite champi (head massage) moment with it. Dabur has also boosted its exposure and presence on e-commerce chains. Go-To-Market The lockdown threw the whole sales system into turmoil, with stockists unable to open their stores and the availability of trucks and people for product delivery appearing as major difficulties. In the early days of the lockdown, most retail shops faced stockouts due to panic purchase of everyday items by people. To address these new problems, Dabur revamped its Go-To-Market strategy and implemented various new measures to assure a continuous supply of its products. These are some examples: The company motivated its stockist network to work from home and accept deliveries first thing in the morning. Its sales team supplemented the personnel of its stockists. Third-party delivery trucks were used to help stockists

38 | SEPTEMBER 2021 |

ensuring timely and uninterrupted deliveries to retailers. Dabur’s over 2,200 sales employees at stockists were provided with health insurance coverage to handle Covid crises. The company launched an incentive programme for delivery guys who report for duty and stockists. It worked extensively with the state and federal governments to get physical and electronic passes for its sales employees. The company's sales crew even drove their cars to deliver products to retail locations. With the closure of the majority of beauty salons and parlours, it redirected the whole parlour channel volunteers to general trade. It implemented the Suraksha store idea in collaboration with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs in order to embrace kirana stores and turn them into Covid safe shopping zones. With traditional avenues closed, the company partnered with online delivery services such as Swiggy, Dunzo, and Zomato to guarantee shops received the ongoing supply. Early in the morning, the company made arrangements with newspaper sellers to service merchants. It ensured that Dabur's immunity-boosting goods were available at dairy and kirana stores. It set up sales kiosks in housing societies, community parks, and fuel pumps around the country to directly reach out to customers with its variety of immunity building goods and juices as part of the ‘Immunity at Your Doorsteps’ campaign. Dabur utilized technology to increase order booking and sales. It introduced a mobile app for ordering from

retailers. In addition to beginning orders via tele-calling, the company has offered order booking via WhatsApp and its contact centre. Streamlining Supply Chain In accordance with the government's instruction, Dabur halted production at its manufacturing plants in March 2020, with the exception of necessary items such as Ayurvedic medicines, chyawanprash, hand sanitisers, hand wash, and so on. Dabur requested and got permits to run its manufacturing plants for the production of a variety of vital goods like hand sanitizers, hand wash, disinfectants, ayurvedic medications, juices, coconut water, honey, and so on within 7-10 days. However, the reverse movement of labour to its various hometowns hampered the availability of trained staff at the units, preventing operations from being scaled up. In addition, the lack of truck drivers impeded the seamless flow of raw materials, packing materials, and completed goods. Dabur went out to local residents in the areas surrounding its production facilities and even obtained authorization from state officials to employ and transport individuals from as far away as Jharkhand to its manufacturing facilities in Jammu, Uttarakhand, and Baddi to bridge the gap. Several precautions were taken as it began operations to guarantee the smooth running of its units and the safety of its employees.

Why

is Important in this

B

randing is the very first step in the marketing funnel. It creates a foundation for businesses to acquire more customers, generate revenue, and build brand affinity. Branding diversifies the marketing options. It makes people more aware about the brand by targeting the relevant audiences. Branding is the most crucial part of the entire marketing sphere, but the art of creating brand awareness has been changed to a great extent. It has totally moved towards the digital world. This is because, people spend majority of their time in interacting with internet and digital media devices including mobile phones, desktops, televisions, and laptops. This is the major change that has taken place in the world since the advent of internet and explosion of technology. In earlier days, the businesses used to attach the advertisements in newspapers or invested in billboard advertising. But they were not able to track their sales coming through newspapers and billboards as they did not know, how many people read their advertisements. So, it became difficult for them to reach the potential customers due to lack of communication. This problem has been resolved now, with the help of digital advancements. For creating brand awareness, the

Branding Essentials different digital platforms like websites, apps, and social media, etc., have enhanced the task of tracking leads for businesses. Now, it is easy for businesses to analyse how they are performing, keep a track of customers, and reach the targeted audience with ease. There are abundant benefits of having a digital approach in branding. Listed below are just a few benefits, but they are enough to understand why brand awareness is important in the digital era.

www.insightssuccess.in | 45

Digital is Flexible

Acquire Audience Data

Adapting digital approach makes a business more flexible. There is a flexibility to analyse the customer’s data from anywhere at any time. In earlier days, the digital marketers did not have to think about how the websites look or responds on smartphones as there was barely any search query coming from mobile devices.

The digital approach for branding can be used to collect the valuable data of the consumers and potential buyers. It can further be used to offer personalized recommendations to the customers.

Now, as majority of people search from their smartphones, these marketers had to incorporate the changes in their websites. They had to change the designs and develop the websites, which can respond on a mobile device. Your websites define how you value the customer’s time. Your website represents your business. When any business approaches branding through digital means, it gets adaptable to the ever-changing environment and becomes flexible for new technological advancements.

According to a survey conducted by Accenture, 91% of the consumers like to buy from the brand, which offers them personalized recommendations. A survey from Segment states that 49% of the consumers make spontaneous purchases after getting a personalized recommendation. Stand Out from the Competitors In the current competitive world, businesses are competing at a higher rate across the globe. So, finding your own way to reach customers is essential. Branding can help in this cutting-edge competition to stand out from the competitors.

Improve Brand Perception The brand awareness campaigns through social media, website, or any other digital means, not only creates an awareness amongst people about the brand but also changes their perception towards it. The brands can take feedbacks through comments or feedback forms from customers to know ‘how they think of the brand’. These awareness campaigns are more likely to be successful as the customers know that their feedbacks are valued by the brands. This contributes to build customer loyalty and change their perception towards the brand. Scale in New Places The brands can use brand awareness campaigns to reach the new potential customers through their content, which can be a video, podcast, pictorial, or anything. This helps the businesses reach their goals and generate new leads. Social media can be the best resource to create a campaign for new lead generation. The businesses can increase their social media outreach through SEO and search advertising. The social media posts can be used to promote the products and content to the target audience. For example, Facebook and Instagram offers the businesses to go for paid promotions.

46 | SEPTEMBER 2021 |

It makes clear for the customers to understand where the product belongs from. It also helps in retaining the customer’s attention as they learn more about the business and understands why they should buy from this brand. The businesses, which organises branding campaigns across different digital platforms are more likely to get loyal customers. This is because, when a consumer read about any business repeatedly, they start trusting the brand. They are guaranteed that the brand has an online presence and is available on different platforms to serve them the best. In a world, where people spend most of their time on digital platforms, the brands must start adopting the digital approach for managing and building the modern individualities. This step is essential to remain relevant and visible to the people.

It was during that time that he decided that he wanted to do something different in my life, and to be specific, make some difference in his life. That led him to channelise his zeal towards self-discovery and he realised that entrepreneurship was his passion. He invested all the time and energy towards building a business he believed in, which was developing an EdTech company that would help in making the youth of India employable. Challenges on the Way When Kounal left the field of Engineering to enter the world of business, he knew that things were not going to be easy. He started early and

started from scratch, without any Godfather. He tied up with KPMG and EY who were two of the biggest consulting rivals. He launched the Bitcoin course much before Cryptocurrency became a known terminology in India. He launched the GST course, 9 months before GST laws were rolled out in the country, conceptualised, and executed the teen MBA course when no one had heard of such a course. He intialised the first EdTech company to provide a digital content writing course. He has faced all the managerial and financial challenges that startups go through, but with his first-mover approach, he has taken advantage of all the opportunities that have come his way. The Success Saga The company took stock of the situation when the early waves of the pandemic started hitting India. The entire staff went on a work from home mode even before it became a norm, and it did not lose even one business day in the transition. The processes were formed, and all the staff were given the required training. As they say, every crisis is an opportunity, the company marketed our online courses on all possible forums and by the time the world switched to an online mode of education, Henry Harvin's batches were full. When companies were laying off staff, the company was hiring executives, digital marketing experts, writers, trainers, and interns. It also launched many new professional short-term courses. Today Henry Harvin® has a customer base of over 3,00,000+ students across 97 countries globally. "I can proudly say that the growth of Henry Harvin®

has been unprecedented in the past 18 month," says Kounal. Check this video: https://youtu.be/EIAMb3Hjfsc Inspiring Words "India is a powerhouse of talent, no wonder companies in developed countries value Indian minds as we are tough, innovative, and rooted. There is no dearth of talent, all we need is a proper direction," says Kounal. "My advice to all the young entrepreneurs out there is that do not start a startup just for the kicks, in fact, kickstart your startup when you have a solid plan. And remember, the most important thing is 'your team'. It is very important that the people you are working with share your vision. Also,

take note of the fact that entrepreneurship is a lifestyle, you do not stop being an entrepreneur at 6 pm. So do not wear yourself out, work at a pace that you can enjoy and continue for many years to come. Take time out for your hobbies, health, and family. It is very important. Impending Ambitions Kounal envisions Henry Harvin to be the World's No.1 EdTech company in the upskilling/reskilling segment. His dream is to increase the professionally qualified and employed workforce in India. "We are yet to reach the optimum level of UI and UX, which makes it hard for the end-users to understand the system. We need to make our products and solutions more affordable for

educational institutions to incorporate technology into their curriculum," says Kounal. Another major challenge is protecting the integrity of student data. Here comes the role of cybersecurity and analytics to assure institutions and individuals that their data is safe. The Edtech industry in India would be worth more than $30 billion in the next ten years with around 3500 companies already in this genre. It has attracted private equity investments of more than 4 billion in only the last four years. The market is huge and still not fully tapped and Kounal sees major players entering this business in recent years.

ven though some workplaces are opening, and businesses have picked up their pace, there is still uncertainty in the market. The second wave of Covid-19 has undoubtedly left a deep scar and with rumors of the third wave being equally capable (if not more) of causing similar damage, businesses are cautious. Expansions are on hold, while consolidations, automation and use of AIs/technology enabled business facilitators has gained momentum. Having said the above, it is equally heartening to see that the growing competition has also led to the evolution of multi-skilled resources, innovation in ways of how organizations market themselves, package their products and its pricing. “We are hopeful that given the tenacity of the vaccination drives in India and the way the medical infrastructure is being ramped up, the country will be better prepared for the third wave,” says Dr. Vivek Das, Founder and Principal of Pro Consulting Solutions. The business and the key stakeholders were thankfully known to us. However, the inherent challenges (that holds true for any business) – skilled employees, clients, good vendors, working capital was always there and had to be tackled. Starting during the pandemic just multiplied our difficulties. Since Consulting requires investment into human resources, ensuring an access to data and developing a technology backed structure for data crunching and research, dependence on high client interaction and secured technology to keep data safe, it presented a new set of challenges for us during the pandemic as everything had to be organized very remotely.

54 | SEPTEMBER 2021 |

Setting up an appropriate IT Infrastructure, approaching clients and convincing them for more e-interactions were a very learning experience for us. Since all of these required finances, it did delay a few things for us owing to lack of steady cash-flows. At the same time, it also encouraged us to think out-of-the-box and evolve our products to suit the requirements of our clients. How much your company/business was affected in these pandemic times and what were the steps taken by you to curb the damages all the while helping your clients and maintaining the safety of your employees? As stated above, with the Covid situation being under way, we had to innovate and invest to ensure a good IT Infrastructure for remote accessibility and seamless communication; although, adjusting to the virtual mode of working was a big challenge initially. As the nature of consulting requires a lot of personal interaction, attention, deliberation, and discussion; the otherwise shorter physical meetings were getting replaced with longer virtual calls, thereby, leading to higher engagement and longer working hours. Though the higher client engagement was heartening, the delayed cash flows coupled with mounting fixed costs kept testing. During lockdowns, we all were working from home and all office work, data, client and team interactions were held on virtual modes. We further encouraged our employees to take vaccinations. However, as the lockdown norms were eased, and business activities slowly

started, things are now shaping up albeit slowly. Our office operations have resumed following all safety protocols and the client physical meetings have begun too. What would you like to advise the young generation of entrepreneurs? Our advice to the budding entrepreneurs is to – first introspect and be sure of what they want to do, and then keep calm and be focused. In the Consulting industry - experience and reputation matters, which takes years of perseverance. Hence, not meant for people looking to achieve quick success. Education, professional affiliations, and relationships in the industry count, and therefore, one needs to have a thought through strategy and be prepared to invest time in order to be a successful consultant.
