This statement has remained with Dr. Sohini Sastri and she has cultivated this thought in her daily practice of astrology. “I don’t consider myself a great astrologer as astrology is a vast subject, and I am trying my best to perfect myself daily. The more you involve in the subject, you will surprise by its capacity of prediction and solution,” says Dr. Sohini. Practicing astrology professionally was not her early intention. She was pursuing her career like any other. She completed her graduation and post-graduation from a reputed college. Because of her love for Rabindra Sangeet and classical music she educates herself in the same in her early life. “Music is the source of my energy, it helps me to keep myself fresh, relaxed. Now it has become my leisure,” Says Dr. Sohini. Dr.Sohini has been a spiritual person from the very beginning. She was interested in occult sciences from her teenage years, although it was just a hobby to her at that time. With increasing age and knowledge of astrology, she started to feel an urge to share her knowledge with people and help those who needed spiritual guidance. “After knowing my intention, our family’s Gurudev encouraged me a lot. That is how I became a professional astrologer,” shares Dr. Sohini. A Distinctive Journey Once Dr. Sohini realized that she was able to help a lot of people, it gave her an incentive and an opportunity to do what she knew best – astrology. Vedic astrology is the most ancient form of astrology known to mankind. “So, it was obvious to pursue Vedic astrology and with the changes in our lifestyle, social hierarchy, and type of job, Vedic astrology was meant to have an up-gradation,” informs Dr. Sohini.
That is where KP astrology comes. KP System of astrology is based on Vedic astrology with few upgrades. The rest like Numerology, Vastu Shastra, and Color therapy, etc. are wings of astrology. “In my personal life I have been engaged in social activities from my school life,” describes Dr. Sohini. As far as the challenges in professional life are considered, the first thing that illuminates Dr. Sohini’s mind is that people do not follow the instructions. “It is a challenge to make them understand that they need to follow every instruction to get the ultimate positive result,” conveys Dr. Sohini. “I will never deny that astrology is my profession, but it also is my life,” she adds further. Some professionals from the same field have created a negative image due to their irresponsible behavior and greed. So, clarifying the doubts to clients is also a challenge. Apart from that, there is professional disrespect, harassing comments, the attempt of defamation are a few common challenges. “But I can say, with God's grace and people's love I have been able to avoid such challenges,” explains Dr. Sohini. She is not bothered by these set of negative aspects that are a part and parcel of her career. Astrological Insights The pandemic was unpredictable for all. It was uncertain to medical science too. Dr. Sohini has published articles where she predicted some sort of trouble waiting for mankind. “We assumed it can be political, financial, or medical. As well we have given a tentative time when it will start to recover and it has also proven to become true,” shares Dr. Sohini. She wrote in her previous article that from September-October the things will be starting to get better, and here we are now with multiple vaccine companies doing their final trial. In terms of guidance, if one follows Vedic culture closely, they will find that all the rules and precautions are mentioned already. Ashna’s advice to people is that they should be more optimistic in these difficult times. She tells to be extra gentle on oneself especially while making tough decisions in life. The whole world is suffering from the pandemic and this is the time to come together and act as a community of one as humans. Forgiveness is the lesson that one should take out from this situation. People should forget all the bad deeds done in the past and forgive the next person. This is the time where healing takes place. This is a pause given by the universe and one should utilize it properly. “In this pandemic, you have to see and pay attention to all the small things in life that gives peace and happiness to you and the people around you. After my retirement from India Air Force, I settled myself in Pune. I met my Guru in Pune and learnt advanced astrology as well as some traditional secrets. My Guru explained me my horoscope and inspired me to start practicing and help people. I was little reluctant to do it for various personal reasons and also to monetize the divine knowledge. But I was convinced by my Guru's logic and taken oath to follow ethical code of conduct of Vedanga knowledge of Jyotish and started to practice making use of my knowledge for the benefit for society.
How did your journey towards astrology start? What made you pursue the language of the stars?
As one of the prominent Astrologers in India, what challenges have you faced while helping your clients?
I was curious about Astrology and Vaastu since childhood. I belong to a small village. My grandfather was an astrologer. I remember people visiting him from nearby villages to ask him about their day to day dilemma like deciding a boy for daughter's marriage, childbirth, job etc. I used to get surprised when people came back thanking him for his guidance and their work was done. I used to ask him a lot of things about astrology and he used to give me simple tips by saying, when you will grow up you will understand this.
I find most people do not know correctly or understand about Astrology. There is a set of people who think that an astrologer can give only predictions and an event is fixed. Whereas Astrology is all about understanding about our limitations and to increase our capacity by enhancing our Karma. Correction in Karma and Counselling for better life is an integral part of a good astrologer.

At an early age of seventeen and half years, I joined Indian Air Force. So, my connection was cut from traditional astrology and my village. But I had an attachment for this knowledge, and I used to read a lot of books, I followed many rituals and mantra as per my horoscope as well as general spiritual practices. Also, by the grace of God I met many people from other regions of country while travelling one corner to another who had interest and knowledge in astrology. But I always felt I need some systematic and advanced knowledge. In Pune I got an opportunity to learn it from Guru directly. After that I could connect the dots of my previous knowledge and learnt how to apply the knowledge to give suggestions. I was happy to get satisfaction to learn it at a higher level and use it for my own benefits.

Astrology is all about understanding the PARISTHITI (situation) and MANAHSTHITI (mindset) of an individual. How much has the Indian Astrology sphere changed since it first came into practice? What is your outlook on the modern way of practicing Astrology? Principles of astrology are same. Interpretation has to be done as per today's time. For example, if an ancient text suggests that someone will possess elephants, it does not mean literally an elephant inside his apartment building. Instead, it can be compared with a luxurious car. As an elephant was a status symbol and a comfortable mode of commuting in ancient times. A logical and knowledgeable astrologer can do it perfectly. Some people do commit mistake and misinterpret ancient knowledge and its context. Also, I do not sit in an office or temple like a traditional astrologer giving Ashirwad to people. I connect with people with internet, audio/video call. I give modern way of solutions, sometimes spiritual guidance. What would you like to share with the aspirants who are looking to enter the Astrology space with an interest to serve and help people in solving their problems? I would suggest new entrants in this field to be honest about learning Vedic scriptures, correlating it logically with modern lifestyle. Our ancient texts are so vast and have huge knowledge that one course or book is not sufficient to learn all. So, one has to be mentally prepared to keep studying and learning throughout life. In terms of future growth, where do you see yourself? I feel I am a just a beginner of this ancient knowledge. I keep learning everyday with people interacting and I connecting their horoscopes with teachings of my Guru and Rishis through scriptures. In addition to that, I also successfully completed my master’s in business administration with specialization in Finance and HR. Who inspired you to help people using astrology? Positive feedbacks from the people who took the consultations from me at very initial stage. When I started learning and practicing it, many people used to visit me and found my consultations and predictions result oriented and helpful for taking the future decisions. Their feedback motivated me to take it ahead to help other individuals.
