mood board
Finding the right balance between a mature learning environment that is fun, accessible and playful. We have not limited our sources of inspiration too narrow at this stage and have collected visual assets for this mood board from a number of different sources including traditional corporate branding & traditional print design to web & app app interfaces. There are a number of different styles presented, with the common factor being most of the work here is based around education / learning environments, with a few wild cards. What we are trying to identify is the right tone of voice / style for your brand. Most likely you will like certain elements from different visual styles and applications. By helping us to identify what you like it will help us to make sure we are all on the same wavelength when it comes to creating the initial ideas for the Aprandi brand.
A striking colourful branding that isn’t easily forgot. This brand combines education with fun. It uses a distinct colour icon style that is easily recognisable as apart of the Osmo branding. We could take inspiration from this visual style to create a very approachable brand style that feels accessibly and educational.
A colourful yet simple illustrative style that gives the sense of adventure. What really stands out here is the subtle gradients and shadows to create a sense of depth that create objects that users want to reach out to touch and interact with. This is definitely something we could be inspired by for creating your branding / user interface as we encouraging users to engage and interact with your product.
This visual approach shares many similarities to the previously presented Osmo, most notably its friendly approach and striking use of colour. The key difference is that this approach follows a recent trend to moved away from skeuomorphism design and towards flat user interfaces. This immediately creates a more modern look and feel to the interface and could be something we look to be inspired by for the branding and ui of Aprandi.
A corporate logo with a colourful application and a distinct icon style. Frog is a great example of how a corporate brand with a limited colour pallet can be expanded and played with to create a unique and interesting visual art style in real world application. The end result is you have a “corporate brand for official documentation, but a colourful and playful brand to engage potential new clients and consumers.
The reason we have picked out these as a possible source of inspiration is due to the way they have used clear defined icons with labels for signature along with single focused pages for completing tasks. This single focused approach will likely be key to driving people through tasks / lessons.
We have highlighted this brand as we feel it has captured the essence of “a new way to learn” By referencing university culture in it’s visual approach it has created what instantly looks like an easy / accessible tool.
Using a traditional logo and a limited colour pallet means this corporate identity gives off a sense of established confidence. But what we like most about this brand is the application and how the branding influences user interface to create a modern look that works great on mobiles & desktops. This is complimented by the distinct icon style.
With a muted colour palette and a distinct photography style this brand has managed to create a style that is professional and corporate but with an element of fun and intrigue.
This work appealed to us due to how it successfully uses icons and lines to present progress. This is something that could directly be used for Aprandi to show a users progress through a lesson/subject. Here the information is also presented in a clean and clear infographic style.
Pocket cook successfully communicates using a distinct clean brand with simple graphic marks. The user interface follows this trend by presenting a flat icon based navigation.
The colour palette and illustrations are the real heroes of this design. The illustrations tell a story brilliantly whilst the pops of red highlight a journey or area of importance really well. The choice of colours themselves are very important within this design. The blues have a definitely corporate feel, whilst the vibrant red brings life to the design.
OCAD university’s brand has a flexible system that they work with to create a stark, strong identity with playful tones. Student and alumni’s work is used within the ‘window’ (the main square) to bring variety and colour. This could be a very interesting concept for Aprandi - working with the various brands that will be using the tool.
