Making Sense Horse Hill Branding

We have produced a clean modern brand that gives the impression of an authoritative and trustworthy company that is conscious of environmental issues. The brand is made up of the combination of a graphic mark and carefully considered typography. The graphic mark is unique and distinctive enough that it can work in isolation away from the typography and used as a supporting graphic element. You can see examples of this on the visualised corporate stationery on the following pages. It is also encouraged that the graphic mark is used in unique and creative ways through-out your brand communications, one example we have suggested is cropping into it - as seen on the reverse of the example business card. The bold clean typeface is set all in upper-case. This helps to set the tone of the company and creates a degree of authority. While the choice of colours suggest it is more friendly and open to ensuring the company is approachable and the right balance for the brand message is created.

A very clean, open brand that gives you the flexibility of a primary and secondary mark. The primary mark includes the full company name spaced in a very open, elegant way. The clean, modern font forms a hill like structure whilst ‘development’ contains an oil drop - pointing to the purpose of the company. The secondary logo brings colour to the brand, creating a strong, concise mark to represent it. It has a modern feel that incorporates important elements of the primary mark - the clear font and oil drop. This can be used across brand collateral as a supporting element, such as the reverse of a business card, in the sticky header of the website or as a sign off of the brand. Looking past the logos alone and into the brand application we have used transparency over images to emphasis Horse Hill’s dedication to communication and openness with the local community. You can see this in use on the business card and website introductory image. In both instances the primary mark has been placed over an image of the countryside, with a transparency so that the whole image can still be viewed. This goes to demonstrate that the beauty of the area will not be covered up and destroyed by Horse Hill - a strong message to the local community. Overall this design works hard to represent Horse Hill Development as a responsible company - easy to engage with, transparent and considerate. Purposefully leaving behind any of the usual brand pointers of the industry to show that Horse Hill is a different breed of oil company - one that cares.

A modern brand with a distinctive graphic mark that is a visual representation of the hunt for resources, the target drilling location. The choice of colours (blues & greens) are carefully chosen to represent the environment surrounding your operations. They are an indication of the importance of looking after the local environment and community. The graphic mark can be cropped in unique and interesting ways and is encouraged to be played with through your branded communications. The typeface is purposefully all lower-case to create a more relaxed feel. In contrast to route one where the brand is more authoritative, the lower-case typeface creates a more approachable brand. This is a brand which you might have a one to one conversation with if you were interested in their operations.
