announces plans to renovate facility and upgrade services By Christopher Pearson Keralty, an international medical services provider with global headquarters in Miami, has big plans for Keralty Hospital, the 125-bed facility formerly known as Westchester General Hospital located on Coral Way near the Palmetto Expressway. Keralty Hospital, which was purchased in 2020, is a full-service hospital offering emergency services, intensive care, respiratory and physical therapy, cardiology, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, and psychological care. It also offers one of Florida’s oldest medical residency programs in family practice, as well as palliative and hospice care fellowships and podiatry residency. Keralty Hospital has 540 employees who are dedicated to putting the patient first. “We have been focusing on providing the highest quality of care and improving every aspect of the hospital,” said Mercedes Perez, Chief Nursing Officer. “Through our medical residency and continuing education programs, our medical teams are on par with the best in Florida,” added Dr. Aimee Gonzalez, Director of Education. According to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Abid Chaudhry, Keralty Hospital is currently undergoing a complete re-engineering of the physical environment of the hospital and the addition of top doctors and medical and administrative teams supporting care delivery. There will also be an expansion of behavioral health, advanced palliative care, and complex care for individuals with multi-chronic conditions. “I joined Keralty about a week after the hospital was acquired and I am thrilled to be part of this fast-growing company,” says Dr. Chaudhry, who previously served the hospital’s Medical Director for the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department.
