an exploded axonometri of the structure, as shown the different parts are a like, but twisted making for a twisted torso structure.
THE TECTONICS We needed to challenge the plastic and make something which wasn’t possible with things like cardboard and glue. Therefore we opted for a selfrotating, allmost twisting, structure which would turn as it grew based on the amouth of air it contains.
the holes as seen from the bottom of the structure.
THE CONSTRUCTION If you wanted to make a squarish structure, you would be in trouble. Nevertheless that was what we opted for. To do this you have to understand that the plastic stressed outwards when blown up, therefore you need something to keep it all together. We opted for a solution which acts as a divider and therefore looks as a building with decks.
These decks had a hole cut into them in the same spot making them useful for guiding. As you stand in the middle of the structure you can see the wind as it slowly manipulates the structures position and forces the circles to move back and forth.
our final structure in the city as a whole.
THE FINAL PRODUCT When our tower finally got up and connected to the rest of the city a fun misstep happened. As a result on the lacking pressure and amount of air our tower reacted every time a new visitor came to the city.
As soon as the zipper in the entrance opened air would leave our structure laying it down, as soon as the zipper was closed the structure re-inflated making it and indicator on new visitors.
