Design & Contents: Alice O'REILLY Design & Publisher: Ahmed ATTA

Patrick PEREZ, Directeur Dear Friends of the Institut Français du Nigeria, This summer’s programme is rich and varied. We hope that it satisfies you! Indeed, a new course and two new services will be introduced on the request of some of our partners. The new course, which will start on July 1, will be taught in English and will focus on "How to do Business with France and West African French speaking countries". This course will complement our courses of French for Personal Assistants and French for Business, taught in French and set up in 2013 and 2014 respectively. A French/English (and vice versa) interpreting service will be open from July and digital tablets with cultural and educational resources will appear in our library. Several cooperation projects, especially the key visual arts event "LIMCAF" initiated by the Alliance Française of Enugu and now overseen by a dynamic committee, will federate once again our cultural network. In July, LIMCAF will enter the first round of the selection phase of artworks by talented Nigerian artists: so keep your eyes peeled for the announcement! This cooperation, so dear to the heart of all, will be reinforced by two projects. The first, with our German friends for a movie night in early July, and the second with a round table on family farming in the second half of August. As part of the professionalization of our agents in our network of cultural institutions, the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service of the Embassy of France will organize two training courses relating to better management of our libraries and the use of digital tablets as educational and cultural databases. By its number and extent of its functions in societies, family farming dominates the world of agriculture. Family farming accounts for more than one billion farmers worldwide, of whom 14 million are in Nigeria. In Nigeria, agriculture represents 21% of GDP and employs two-thirds of the workforce. 90% of food production comes from small farms. With 80% of arable land, Nigeria has a huge potential despite a production deficit. This roundtable will highlight the initiatives implemented by the authorities, the projects and experiences of some foreign and domestic partners, and will give voice to the actors.

Promotion of higher education in France International student services - International mobility Lundi au vendredi de 9h à 18h Monday to Friday from 10AM to 6PM Institut français du Nigeria The French Embassy in Nigeria through its office of promotion of higher education, Campus France, is welcoming prospective students and assisting them as they consider studying in France. Campus France orientate students in identifying suitable programmes, scholarship programmes and in complying with visa regulations and other administrative requirements prior to their arrival in France. We regularly organize pre-departure sessions and CV & cover letter workshops to empower students to get the best learning and human experience during their stay in France. Two pre-departure sessions will take place in July & August 2015. Prospective students will know more about first steps and practical information when they arrive in France (residence permit, opening a bank account, housing subsidy, working while studying, etc.). Alumni will attend the event to share their experience about living & studying in France. France is the third destination for international student mobility in the world with about 300.000 foreign students joining French higher education institutions every year. French higher education has evolved over the years to fit in with the evolving higher education world: it now offers more than 1000 degree programs taught in English from Bachelor degree programs to Phd degree Programs. Accounting for more than 20% of its overall budget, education represents the priority of the French government. For more information, please come to the Institut français du Nigeria or contact studyinginfrance@hotmail.fr. If you're based in Lagos and the South, please contact campusfrancelagos@outlook.com.
