Držíte v rukách katalóg 22. ročníka CEny ZA ARchitektúru, ktorú každoročne vyhlasuje predstavenstvo Slovenskej komory architektov. CE ZA AR je podľa svojho štatútu „cena za významný profesionálny výkon – zrealizované architektonické dielo vysokej kvality, ktoré prispieva k rozvoju architektúry na Slovensku“. Udeľuje sa v piatich typologických kategóriách: Rodinné domy, Bytové domy, Občianske a priemyselné budovy, Interiér, Exteriér a v jednej prierezovej kategórii Fenomény architektúry. Zároveň je to však prehliadka toho najlepšieho, čo sa vďaka slovenským architektom a architektkám za uplynulé obdobie postavilo, posadilo či uchovalo.
You hold in your hands the catalogue of the 22nd edition of the CE ZA AR Prize for Architecture, announced each year by the board of the Slovak Chamber of Architects (SKA). According to its statute, CE ZA AR is “an award for a significant professional achievement – an architectural work of high quality that contributes to the development of architecture in Slovakia”. It is awarded in five typological categories: Family Houses, Residential Houses, Civil and Industrial Buildings, Interior, Exterior, and one cross-cutting category, Phenomena of Architecture. At the same time, however, it is a showcase of the best that has been built, planted, or preserved thanks to Slovak architects over the recent period.

Sedemčlenná medzinárodná porota v tomto ročníku spomedzi 95 prihlásených diel po viac než 1700 km obhliadok v teréne a dvoch prezretiach diel, v hodinách diskusií vybrala 21 nominácií, z ktorých na slávnostnom galavečere spoznáme šiestich laureátov ceny. Sú medzi nimi drobné intímne i rozsiahle verejné priestory, objekty pre kultúru i zdravotníctvo, novostavby i rekonštrukcie. No dovolím si tvrdiť, pri všetkej úcte k víťazom, že len celý súbor 21 nominácií poskytuje dostatočne objektívny obraz o súčasnom stave slovenskej architektúry v jej šírke a rozmanitosti. Aj napriek pestrému výberu nominovaných diel, neprehliadnuteľným spoločným motívom 22. ročníka ceny je dôraz, ktorý okrem kreativity a invencie porota pri hodnotení kládla na rôzne aspekty udržateľnosti. Medzi vybranými dielami nájdeme príklady použitia obnoviteľných materiálov i recyklácie, zelenej a modrej infraštruktúry, uchovania existujúcich stavebných štruktúr a ich adaptáciu na nové využitie. Nezanedbateľný je aj rešpekt ku kultúrnym a historickým hodnotám prostredia či priestor pre diverzitu a sociálnu inklúziu, ktorý mnohé z diel ponúkajú. Hoci CE ZA AR je predovšetkým ocenením práce architektov a krajinných architektov, členov a členiek SKA, len málo z nominovaných diel by vzniklo bez osvieteného klienta či zodpovedného realizátora. Kým ešte v nedávnej minulosti boli tými osvietenými klientmi najmä súkromní investori, s úprimnou radosťou môžem konštatovať, že v tomto ročníku takmer polovicu nominácií tvoria diela verejne prístupné alebo financované z verejných zdrojov. Ešte významnejší je fakt, že návrhy dvoch z diel obstarávaných samosprávou alebo verejnou inštitúciou vzišli zo súťaží návrhov. Verím, že aj vďaka dlhoročnej aktivite SKA bude ich zastúpenie čoraz početnejšie. Pre vznik kvalitnej architektúry je však dôležitá ešte jedna ingrediencia – spoločenské povedomie o jej význame pre formovanie prostredia, v ktorom žijeme. A to je asi najdôležitejšia úloha projektu CE ZA AR, scitlivovanie verejnosti voči kultúrnemu prínosu architektúry a prezentovanie príkladov dobrej praxe ako inšpirácia pre budúcnosť. Lebo zodpovednosť za tvorbu urbánneho prostredia a krajiny nesieme všetci - architekti, urbanistky, krajinári, ale aj obyvatelia a obyvateľky Slovenska reprezentovaní samosprávami a verejnými inštitúciami. Sme v tom všetci spolu – #SPOLU V ARCHITEKTÚRE.
This year, the seven-member international jury selected 21 nominations out of 95 entries after more than 1,700 km of visits in the field and two viewings of projects, and hours of discussions. The six prize laureates from among the 21 nominations will be announced at the gala evening. They include small intimate and large-scale public spaces, buildings for culture and healthcare, new buildings, and renovations. But I dare say, with all due respect to the laureates, that only the whole set of 21 nominations provides a sufficiently objective picture of the current state of Slovak architecture in its breadth and diversity. Despite the diverse selection of nominated works, an unmistakable common theme of the 22nd edition of the prize is the emphasis the jury placed on various aspects of sustainability in addition to creativity and inventiveness. Among the short-listed works, we find examples of the use of renewable materials and recycling, green and blue infrastructure, the preservation of existing building structures and their adaptation to new uses. Another notable thing is the respect for the cultural and historical values of the environment or the space for diversity and social inclusion that many of the projects offer. Although CE ZA AR is primarily an award for the work of architects and landscape architects, members of SKA, few of the nominated works would have been created without an enlightened client or a responsible contractor. While in the recent past, those enlightened clients were mainly private investors, I am truly delighted to say that this year, almost half of the nominations are publicly accessible or publicly funded works. Even more significant is the fact that designs for two of the works commissioned by a local authority or public institution emerged from design contests. I believe that, thanks to SKA’s long-standing activity, their number will continue growing. However, there is another important ingredient for the emergence of quality architecture – social awareness of its importance in shaping the environment we live in. And this is probably the most important task of the CE ZA AR project, making the public aware of the cultural contribution of architecture and presenting examples of good practice as inspiration for the future. Because the responsibility for the creation of the urban environment and landscape lies with all of us – architects, urban planners, landscape architects, but also the inhabitants of Slovakia represented by local governments and public institutions. V slovenských rekreačných oblastiach často možno natrafiť na chaty typu „Tatranec“. Keďže tieto objekty s typicky ostrou strechou starnú, majitelia riešia ako s nimi naložiť. V prípade chaty v Tomkách ustúpil pôvodný objekt novostavbe. Bola však zachovaná nielen zastavaná plocha, ale aj výzor budovy. Výrazne sa zmenila priestorová organizácia chaty. Hlavným prínosom je otvorenie objektu do oboch strán, čiže v prednej časti k jazeru a vzadu k lesu. V obidvoch prípadoch pribudli pobytové schody a dve rozličné využitia. Predný exteriérový priestor v lete slúži na slnenie, zadný je určený na stolovanie. S tým súvisí aj vnútorné priestorové členenie. V strede chaty sa nachádza schodisko s kúpeľnou, ktoré na dolnom poschodí priestor delí na obývaciu časť a kuchyňu. Na hornom poschodí tento deliaci prvok odčleňuje dve spálne. Obdive priečelia sú presklené, čo prináša dostatok svetla. Chata ani v horúcich dňoch nepotrebuje klímu, jej otvorenie do oboch strán umožňuje prirodzené vetranie.
In recreational areas in Slovakia, you can often come across the “Tatranec” type of cottages. As these structures with their typically sharp roofs are getting old, the owners are trying to decide what to do with them. In the case of the weekend house in Tomky, the original building was replaced by a new one. However, the built-up area and even the appearance of the building were preserved. The spatial organisation of the cottage has changed significantly. The main benefit is brought by opening the building to both sides, i.e., in the front towards the lake and in the back towards the forest. In both cases, stairs providing opportunities to spend time on them, along with two different uses, have been added. The front exterior space is used for sunbathing in the summer, the back is for dining. This is also related to the internal spatial division. In the middle of the cottage, there is a staircase with a bathroom, which divides the space on the lower floor into a living area and a kitchen. On the upper floor, this divider separates two bedrooms. Both façades are glazed, which brings in plenty of light. The cottage does not need air conditioning even on hot days, the fact that it’s open to both sides allows for natural ventilation.
VYJADRENIE POROTY Novostavba chatky v Tomkách je výborným príkladom inšpiratívneho rozvinutia typologického modelu. Na zdanlivo malom priestore sa podarilo vytvoriť duálny priechodný mikrosvet. Dva scénické pohľady do lesa a k jazeru dopĺňa prekvapivo veľkorysé a funkčné vnútorné riešenie.
JURY STATEMENT The newly built hut in Tomky is a wonderful example of an inspiring take on a typological model. A seemingly small space proved to be sufficient to create a dual passable microworld. The two scenic views over the forest and the lake are complemented with a surprisingly generous and functional internal layout.

The Slovak Chamber of Architects is a selfgoverning professional non-entrepreneurial legal person based in Bratislava with a delegated performance of public administration. It was established by Act of the Slovak National Council No. 138/1992 on authorised architects and authorised construction engineers. Its activities are funded from its own resources without state subsidies. It is a member of the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE, www.ace-cae.eu) and the European Network of Architects’ Competent Authorities (ENACA, www.enaca.eu). Besides the tasks specified by law, the Slovak Chamber of Architects also verifies competition conditions of design contests in the field of architecture and provides inviting parties with expert assistance when organising public competitions and their evaluation, and organizes the CE ZA AR Prize for Architecture of the Slovak Chamber of Architects.

Slovenská komora architektov je samosprávna stavovská právnická osoba nepodnikateľskej povahy so sídlom v Bratislave s preneseným výkonom štátnej správy.
