Most of the time we were 14 people deep in our booth with commercial printers wanting to learn more about how our digital printers can help them compete in their marketplace.”

“We sold all our equipment on the booth and formed strategic partnerships for the Latin American market,” commented, Michael Sparbeck, C.O.O. of Intec USA.

Fiery XF for Intec Version 6.1 Coming soon… Intec delivers MORE control to printers through enhanced imposition options. When adding a RIP to your printer, the ultimate goal is to improve what you do, or to reduce your costs. For a dealer it is important to be able to understand the benefits of adding a RIP to your clients’ Intec, and what value it can deliver for him or her. In addition to the unlimited color control options provided by Intec’s

®

EFi RIP solution, we will take the opportunity in this month’s article, to look at some of the benefits offered by Intec Advanced Imposition solutions. It is important to understand that Intec’s version of the EFi RIP has been significantly upgraded to offer advanced solutions specifically for our clients that are not available through standard versions of the RIP. See the first of our new ‘Master Class’ articles to help you get the very best from your RIP.

Master Class Our new series to help you get the very best from your Intec equipment. Master Class #1 Advanced Business Card Mode Did you know, Intec, has an Advanced Business Card mode for creating business cards and reducing your guillotine / trimming time by over 50%? No! Then read on… When presenting a business card to the RIP, we can AUTOMATICALLY set the RIP to step and repeat this card up to 21 x on an SRA3 sheet - as shown Fig 1 below left. This requires, NO user intervention and is an excellent way to quickly layout your business cards.

fig 2

The problem with this basic function, is that the time on the guillotine / trimmer is quite long - as there are double cuts between each card, please see Fig 2. However, now for some INTEC MAGIC! Intec’s ‘Advanced Business Card mode’, will enable you to remove the gutters, Fig 3… which would normally cause a problem with cutting accuracy.

fig 3

AND, then will FLIP automatically every second ROW, enabling ‘likecolors’ to sit next to each other, Fig 4 so that any cutting issues can not easily be seen. This saves users time on their cutting equipment. It also saves media as often removing the gutters enables another row of cards to fit. Ensuring, any cutting inaccuracies are difficult to see, guaranteeing a happy customer.

fig 1

We hope you can use this advanced functionality to your benefit and look forward to hearing your feedback on how the process has worked for you.

Coming up: ‘Page Creep’

Look out for our Master Class article on the subject of ‘Page Creep’ in next month’s issue of Intec inPrint, to help improve booklet printing techniques.

Double-launch at show! Master Office don’t do things by halves - they launched TWO Intec products at the recent Sign & Print Show in Stockholm! As a long-standing client who already stock and distribute Intec products, the Swedish firm were keen to further enhance their range.

ColorSplash Multi-Media Feeder and Stacker System These soon-to-be additions to the ColorSplash range look set to seriously raise-the-bar on the highproduction stakes!

If your workflow requires higherproduction volumes, you will certainly benefit from the performance delivered by the Multi-Media Feeder and Stacker. When coupled with the CS4000 or CS5000 print engine, these devices will save production time by offering you the ability to stack and feed a large amount of media, (in the region of 3000 x SRA3 sheets), enabling the benefit of uninterrupted printing! The Feeder will hold around 25kg of media and continually selfadjust to ensure the smooth feeding, of the top sheet from the stack, into

the ColorSplash unit at the perfect height. In turn, the Stacker receives the output and self-levels itself to accommodate the printed sheets. Master Office could see the huge potential of these devices not only for their clients who currently own ColorSplash devices - but potential new high-volume customers seeking a more effective digital solution.

LPS215 Label Printing and Finishing System

Master Office also launched the LCF215 at Sign & Print 2015. This unit has been developed to complement the LP215 Label Printer which Master Office launched several months ago. This pairing now offers their customer base a complete label printing and finishing solution.

The LP215 Label Printer and LCF Finisher will complement our current offerings to the sheet-fed digital print market. Staffan Lehr Master Office

CARBON8 MOVES TO DIGITAL… Sydney’s premier digital print house chose Intec.

Sydney printer Carbon8 has opened a strong new market in direct mail and invitations - only three months after installing its first Intec printer. It has grown this part of the business five times over since plugging in the Intec ColorSplash CS5000, supplied by Onyx, as it is better able to handle short-run work in a smaller size. Director Kenneth Beck says: Carbon8 clients have been asking for smaller invitation and mail companion pieces for some time and while a small amount has been outsourced it was not a market we have focused on until recently. Now we are finding that we have enough of this work to bring a machine in-house, work that the Indigo is probably over-engineered for. Clients kept asking for it, so finally we decided to plunge into the market. The company has resisted buying a smaller digital printer because the machines on the market were not fast enough or had issues with quality,

but when distributor Onyx Solutions offered a one month trial, we decided it was worth a look. When somebody requested work requiring a laser printer we always said no, we do not print laser, we print with ink, and we were not particularly confident outsourcing it, in case it was not delivered to us in time. It is hard to assess quality and reliability before you own a machine. We have been reluctant in the past to commit to one. Onyx was willing to offer it to us on a try before you buy basis, which gave us an opportunity to confirm that it was what they promised for a month. I don’t think we would have taken a risk on a smaller machine like this on Three months on from its November installation Beck says the ColorSplash is taking on ‘trickier’ work involving heavy papers and envelopes on a smaller scale than an Indigo can handle. just the promise of a salesperson. We are really happy with it. I think we are easily producing five times as much in a couple of months than we were outsourcing. Previously we would not have even suggested this kind of work to our customers, I don’t think we really thought of it as a revenue stream, we were focused on our core business. We are pretty diverse already in the kinds of work we do, but this is an example of the right way to diversify. It adds to our existing offering and has been an immediate success.
