Selling ColorSplash before Product stocks even arrive! Selling like hot cakes

That seems to be very much the prospect for our new Maltese partner, Office Group. As Kerry Button and Roger Ginnaw report, having just returned from a week with Office Group – providing product installation and technical training.

Remarkably, Office Group had already made their first sale before their demonstration system had even arrived. So, the Intec team was perfectly placed to assist the Office Group team in installing the Intec CS5600 to their customer, ‘Digital Printing Press’, of Birkirkara. Even company director, Abela, was delighted with the new system and with the support and training he received, we even printed 1,000 envelopes for one of his customers during the testing. Providing technical training is a key part of the Intec proposition and ensures Intec customers are as productive as possible. To this end, Roger conducted a 2 day technical training course for the Office Group support team, ensuring they could fully support our products in the field. Meanwhile Kerry also spent time with the sales team, taking them through a sales presentation covering the unique selling points offered by the Intec ColorSplash systems. On the Friday, Office Group had invited over 100 customers to an official Intec launch at their impressive head office which was very successful. Showing the CS5600XF to a broad range of commercial printers and designers interest was high with many attendees wanting to talk about pricing and installation.

“It’s been a whirlwind visit,” commented Kerry Button, “and we fitted five days’ work into four, but with the professionalism of Office Group, all aspects of the visit were a great success. I would like to thank all the team for making Roger and myself feel part of the Office Group family and know we have the pleasure of working with an ambitious and very professional partner.” Kerry Button Sales Director (Europe)

Established Golders Green Print Firm chooses ColorSplash

The Print Team, a longestablished, north London family print firm, has added a new Intec ColorSplash CS5000 Envelope Printing System to their plant.

The Print Team’s heritage goes back over 30 years. In fact they were one of the pioneers of high street printing in the UK. Charlie Hanbury, (right) The Print Team’s MD, with Peter Swann, Intec UK Sales Manager

The Golders Green firm is a very successful & well respected digital and litho printer. They recently chose to add a new Intec CS5600 envelope printer to their fleet of equipment. Following current trends, they wanted to expand their customer offering to include premium-quality short-run envelopes, invitations and stationery. The ColorSplash offered just what they needed: Ultrasharp imaging, the capability of printing on to specialist colored media of up to 400 micron, and the 5th color station of either white & clear toner - for those special finishing touches! In addition to this, the ColorSplash enables the firm to offer totem display pods, using banners printed up to 1.3 metres long perfect for point-of-sale items and exhibitions.

“The ColorSplash CS5000 was the perfect choice for this established professional print shop, who sought to maximise the growing demand for premium results on specialist media - in low volumes” Peter Swann Intec Printing Solutions The Print Team’s high street premises

LP215 White: Our new white toner label printer is now here!

White toner on clear gloss and transparent stocks White toner = creativity re-imagined

The Intec LP215 White toner label printer is an Industry first

“By having white toner, the market for short run digital labels greatly expands - as do the opportunities to levy additional revenues for delivering premium results. The Intec LP215 is a perfect print solution for high-end cosmetics and beverage markets, as well as for print shops looking to run decals and stickers on clear films. The opacity of the white toner is exceptionally high – we believe this is going to be a real game changer for the digital printing market” Mark Baker-Homes Intec Printing Solutions.

LP215 White toner label printer is powered by industry leading color technology Included with the Intec’s LP215 White is the powerful Harlequin RIP which enables you to define your jobs with White spot colors, or will automatically take your process CMYK jobs and add a white ‘chroma’ underprint so your labels look vibrant on Clear gloss or Semi-Transparent labels. In addition when using White, the RIP intelligently handles black generation through your CMY channels. Conversely when you switch back to using standard CMYK toner configuration the RIP ensures the lowest cost image creation by optimising color efficiently through your toners.

Using ground breaking new toner technology, the Intec LP215 White toner delivers excellent opacity and therefore a very high ‘White’ factor for your label applications such as water bottles, cosmetic products, food labelling and transparent surface products as well as window stickers. Using white toner alongside High Definition color enables users to print on a wide range of media, including colored media and clear film. The ability to print using white toner opens a whole range of markets and potential applications for commercial printers and private brand owners. Ideal for printing on dark or colored substrates, transparent films, and textured stocks; the white toner makes the creative possibilities endless. █ Print

clear gloss labels (such as water bottles) with a white underprint for vibrant colors. █ Print semi translucent labels, with white addition or underprint. █ Print vibrant color on dark backgrounds █ Print white solid colors █ Print four color process labels with white underprint █ Window graphics on vinyl and clear film … and much, much more!

Extensive media range including BAOPP, PE & Polyester The Intec LP215 uses the latest digital LED printing technology, enabling high color printing of the highest quality, alongside the ability to print on the most extensive range of media, at speeds of up to 9 meters/min - an ideal combination for creative businesses and labeling companies. Advanced roll paper handling from 90mm wide to 216mm wide. Print on paper, gloss media, polyester, PE, PET and BAOPP stock up to 360gsm a wider, heavier range than any comparable printer.

Significantly reduced total cost of ownership

Using Intec’s single-pass roll-toroll printing technology, labels and packaging can now be printed using white toner on demand, direct from your desktop. Cost-effective, high-capacity consumables ensure that your total cost of ownership is significantly reduced - further enhanced by switching between the two CMYK and CMYW operating modes - a 60 second process and requires no maintenance or cleaning. When using the CMYK print mode, a low cost black toner ensures jobs printed in the standard four color printing process are as cost efficient as possible. Switching to the CMYW color mode by interchanging the black toner and white toner provides CMYK+W printing with intelligent job/image handling through the RIP. The White toner delivers intensely opaque whites, strong underprints and an automatic ‘Chroma’ white channel underprint, for clear/transparent labels. In addition, while in CMYW mode the RIP ensures your black colors are handled seamlessly with a composite K black generation.

canon choose Intec to provide Envelope solution for ABC Imaging CS4000 CS5000

ABC TM

Intec Printing Solutions is pleased to have been chosen to partner with Canon – world leaders in digital imaging – to help supplement a niche envelope printing requirement.

The Intec ColorSplash CS4600 Envelope Printing System – with its capability to cope with a wide range of envelope sizes and media weights – was the perfect choice! The Intec ColorSplash CS4600 installed and in action at ABC’s Farringdon plant

When ‘ABC Imaging’, one of Canon’s key accounts, required a digital envelope printing system – which fell outside the normal industry standards – Canon looked beyond their own excellent portfolio and found that Intec had developed the perfect system to meet their client’s exact needs!

About ABC Imaging

ABC Imaging is a global company with more than 33 branches worldwide and provides print solutions and digital document management services to a wide range of market sectors. Investing heavily in Canon hardware and services, they had a need to produce high quality envelopes and turned to Canon for advice. Canon recommended the Intec CS4600 Envelope Printing System, and ABC Imaging therefore visited the Intec showroom in Poole, Dorset, and brought with them, a range of envelope samples for testing – and were very impressed with what they saw. The Intec CS4600 ran all the samples with no issues and could also print C4 lengthways increasing the speed to over 900 envelopes per hour. Running plain and window DL was equally

“ABC had a specific need to print onto a wide range of envelopes and needed the additional applications offered by Intec’s unique CS4600XF solution. This should also cope perfectly with the expected range of short run jobs covering circa 30,000 envelopes per month.” Kerry Button

Intec Sales Director (Europe)

impressive with speeds of around 3,500 envelopes an hour, in full color. Adding value to their decision, ABC Imaging were shown how easy it was to roll the specialist envelope feeder away and print multi media applications up to 400gsm and 1,321mm in length allowing banner, landscape A4 and multi-page fan-fold applications.

B) The actual process of printing envelopes is inherently problematic owing to a number of issues, including: 1. Envelopes are made up of two sheets of paper, which can give rise to creasing, slower print speed and frequent mis-feeds. 2. Windows (different material and edges) bring their own set of feeding problems. 3. The seemingly simple matter of feeding envelopes into and through the printer - is actually not quite so simple. 4. Avoiding jamming, obtaining a clean, flat impression - and coping with sorting and quality control is another huge challenge! continued over page…

The problem with envelopes

For at least two reasons, envelopes are not the easiest of items to pint. A) there are many sizes and formats in use globally, and most propriety brand print systems focus on supporting just the mainstream formats.

All problems solved!

Obviously we want to protect the specifics surrounding our product developments, but suffice to say, by making a number of significant changes to the print engine and with specially designed proprietary accessories and especially some patented key features – the ColorSplash has addressed all four points mentioned - and more!

“During our initial discussions with Canon it was obvious there was a synergy and our solutions would work in total harmony,” says Kerry Button Intec Sales Director (Europe). “There is no doubt that where appropriate, by including our products as part of their overall solution, Canon add even more value and allow their customers to enter lucrative and less competitive markets which are currently demonstrating strong growth.”

The Intec ColorSplash has resulted in the most cost-effective and productive solution for short run 4 and 5 color ondemand applications. Result! ABC Imaging expect to be running around 30,000 envelopes each month and this will continue to grow as more customers take advantage of the new service.

La Reprografica invests in staff to drive ColorSplash sales

La Reprografica, Intec’s authorised partner for ColorSplash products in Italy, recently appointed two new personnel to drive sales.

Federico has been appointed as Intec products marketing assistant and Paolo as sales executive with a directive to drive sales of the Intec systems into the graphic arts sector. Federico is currently finishing his degree in economics and works at La Reprografica’s head office in Varese 3 days a week. Paolo has a background in office supplies and is ideally experienced to promote the substantial benefits offered by Intec’s unique envelope and multi media print systems. As part of their induction both will be travelling to the UK this month and spending 3 days training on the latest Intec systems to ensure they have

the knowledge and skill set needed to help their customers. Whilst recently in Milan, Kerry, Intec’s European Sales Director, spent a day with Federico and Paolo showing the benefits of the CS5600XF and taking them through the extensive range of marketing and support tools. “I enjoyed spending time with Federico and Paolo and I’m delighted with their appointment, this will ensure La Reprografica will enjoy continued success with our unique product range, commented Kerry.”

Intec USA Celebrates Best year to date! With Intec Corporation nearing the end of its current fiscal year, managing director, Ian Melville, visited Intec USA at the beginning of October, for a review of the business and to catch up with the team. Intec USA is now a well-established corporation serving the Americas. Intec USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Intec UK and at the Intec HO in Tampa they handle distribution, service, support, marketing, training, and sales throughout the Americas with Intec distribution partners throughout the USA and also in Canada, Caribbean, Mexico and several Central and Latin American countries.

The bottom line.

Ian and his wife, Geri, report having spent a most pleasant week in Florida – during which time, Ian ran a very heavy schedule of meetings with suppliers, current and new partners as well as with the corporation’s accountants. Ian commented, “Modern communication methods have allowed us all to manage the business very

efficiently, but there’s nothing like meeting up face-to-face, and Geri and I were delighted to take this opportunity to do so. Intec USA is going from strength-to-strength and is having its best year ever - well done guys!” On a more personal level, a particular highlight of the week was the Wednesday evening when Ian & Geri took the staff out for dinner at the very well-known, ‘Bern’s’ restaurant. Bern’s is famous for its steaks, and their trainees serve VERY long apprenticeships! They also boast the biggest private wine cellar in world, a separate dessert

room and a cheese cave. A truly great evening and thoroughly recommended. www.bernssteakhouse.com

Peter Swann achieves significant blood donation milestone Intec UK Sales Manager, Peter Swann, received his ‘75 up’ certificate this week. “As a blood door I feel blessed that I’ve been able to stay in good health to make all these donations over many years. It’s particular relevant to me too, as only 4% of our population regularly do this! One pint of blood, which takes

less than an hour to donate, can help up to 3 x road accident victims & cancer sufferers plus other needy recipients. I’m told as a Platinum donor I will get invited to a meal with other donors to meet some of the people who receive blood transfusions – and I’m very much looking forward to that experience.” Peter Swann.
