4th Annual CET Designer® User Conference

Meet Magnus Carlgren, R & D, Configura Employee of the Month Magnus has been with Configura since 1998 and is one of the original developers on the CET platform – CET stands for Configura Extension Technology. He’s an expert in CET and focuses on research and development activities for the future of the platform. “I believe in Configura and our technology because I know that we will always change, adapt, do what it takes, to help our users solve the problem of specifying and selling complex products,” he said. Magnus grew up in Sweden and moved to the United States in 2006 with others from Configura to open the Grand Rapids, Michigan, office. In Grand Rapids, he met his future wife, Annaliza, and they now have a beautiful young daughter, Liv. In addition to family activities, Magnus likes homeimprovement projects, martial arts and spending time with the family dog, Batu, a huge Doberman that adores Liv. What does he like best about his work? “Good question,” Magnus says. “Every project is so different from the last one. We haven’t stopped evolving, and there’s always room for new and wild ideas to bloom.”

Meet Nicole Martin, Director of Design, OEC in Chicago Nicole joined OEC in 2004 and soon after achieved her National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). After attaining this certification, she became a licensed Interior Designer recognized by the State of Illinois. She excels at interpreting customer needs and project requirements, which she then translates into compelling, functional design solutions. As the Director of Design at OEC, Nicole is responsible for developing and maintaining a qualified, professional technical design staff by ensuring that they receive current training and relevant experience. Nicole also acts as a liaison between the sales, project management and design departments to coordinate communication and assignment of resources. She develops customer design contracts and reviews specifications/design layouts for accuracy. She also actively promotes OEC’s design capabilities through customer engagement and presentations. “As a working manager, I have to juggle managing a team and a steady project load. CET Designer allows me to spend less time in process on projects thus freeing me up to spend more time with my team,” Nicole said.

Simplify

in June by using the great features in the Calculation Screen!

June’s Featured Tips CALCULATION SCREEN The Calculation Screen has many different tools for sorting your parts list and preparing your order. Open the Calculation Screen by clicking on the price in the upper-right corner of the main 2D/3D screen of CET Designer. Did you know that … • If you click on the Line Number in an Article View, that part(s) will highlight in your 2D and 3D view in your drawing. And, if you highlight a part in your drawing, it’s highlighted in your Article View. • You can turn columns off and on to create custom Article Views based on your audience. For example, you can create one Article View with certain columns on for installers, another for the client, another for internal use, etc. You add new Article Views by clicking on the Create New View icon. These custom column sorts can be saved as Calculation Screen Setting (.cmclc file) for future use. • You can rename your Article View tabs to be more descriptive. Instead of Article View 1, Article View 2, etc., the description could say, “Installer,” “Customer,” etc. • You can move columns left or right in the Article View by clicking the up/down arrow in the Column tab in the View Settings of each Article View. • You can sort your Article View by Tagged areas so you can get subtotals for different departments, phases or areas; this is done in the Grouping tab in the View Setting of the Article View. • You can Filter an Article View to create a partial parts list based on a Tagged area or a Phased order. • An Article View can easily be copied/pasted into Excel or other documents using the pull-down Edit/Copy All Cells and then Pasting in the other program. • The order of products in an Article View can be sorted base on any of the columns by clicking on the “-” to the right of the Column name, which then gives that column a number with a hierarchy of the sort. For example, you can first do a sort based on List Price, with a secondary sort based on Description. • You can create an Article View for a punch list or small orders by double-clicking on a part in another Article View; this action puts that item(s) in a new Article View. • You can create a SIF file for ordering out of the Article View you’re in by choosing File/Order Export in the pull-down menu at the top of the Calculation Dialog screen.
