Garage Masters’ Gala has been prepared for you for 5 years now. Year by year we are trying to offer you more and more attractive events and rewards. This year, the total value of rewards reached 1,500,000 PLN and 12 cars to win! 9 of them will go to Customers who have reached the best trading results, and next three will go to Customers who qualified to Gala. It is enough for them just to be there, and the card you have received in February issue of Gala News and of course some luck in the lottery. The promotion was started in January and it lasted till the middle of May. In this time we have created for you a special webpage www. icms.eu, on which we have been putting all the information regarding Gala, rules of the promotion and current events. On the webpage you could see your points and place in the ranks. I strongly recommend you to check your final score, thanks to which you will know if you get the invitations to Karpacz and if you have the chance to win one of the cars or money reward. But before we meet at Gala, we want to summarise our three motor-sport meetings, which were additional rewards in the contest. Inter Cars has been trying to build positive relations with Customers, by connecting business with binding events in an interesting and creative form, that is why we are even more happy of the fact that 100% of invited guests were present at special sections. This shows great interest and involvement from your side. When talking to winners of each special section I have heard many positive opinions about such interesting form of spending time. It turns out that many of you are willing to change traditional “sitting meetings” to sport, emotions and meeting famous people of sports world, which can guarantee interesting experiences and increased dose of adrenaline. We recommend you seeing our photo-relation from these meetings, which is very limited in the printed version of the magazine, because of very little space, but much more can be found after logging in at www.icms.eu. of Great Race in Karpacz!
Garage Masters’ Gala is an event in Polish automotive industry, which is one of a kind, totally intended for Customers of Inter Cars S.A. It is a form of thanksgiving and a reward for the most active ones. Year by year the event gets bigger and bigger and offers its participants attractions on the highest level. At weekend between 14th and 16th June we are meeting with laureates of the promotion in Karpacz, but before this happens, lets summarise our Special Sections, which were really very popular among our Customers. Just like in real car races, also in “Great Race” the contestants had a chance to gather points in general classification, but also in Special Sections. This year the rules of the promotion were
constructed in such a way, that not only the biggest had the chance to win, but also smaller garages, because Special Sections were concerning smaller product groups. Several Customers with the highest turnover in particular months won meetings with our sports Stars: with Krzysztof Hołowczyc (in the middle), Maciej and Krzysztof Oleksowicz and with Grzegorz Staszewski (on the left) and
Special Sections are additional promotion campaigns which accompanied the “Great Race”, in which you could win possibility of participating in motorization meeting with Krzysztof Hołowczyc and other famous people of motor sports. Within the “Great Race” there were three Special Sections. Each of them lasted for a month. The first one started on 1st February and the other two on 1st March and
Bartek Ostałowski (on the right). Meetings within SS1, SS2 and SS3 took place twice at the airport in Nowe Miasto upon Pilica river and nearby Mikołajki in Masuria. Each time we had different weather conditions, other surface of the road, so each of the meetings was different and one of a kind, that is why we have called them three seasons of the year: Winter, spring and summer, and you can see it perfectly in the photos and 2nd April. Every month 15 people took part in such event (6 from films. garage and garage-shop category and 3 from truck market). During each Special Section, the laureates could watch drift shows performed by Grzegorz Staszewski – experienced participant of Polish Drift Championships and phenomenal Bartek Ostałowski. His phenomenon is that, although he has no hands, because he had lost them in a road accident, he can drive his car with his feet, and he is the only driver partnerzy promocji with no hands, but with a racing licence valid worldwide. During these three Sections, the drift-cars had also very different riding conditions. The winter weather conditions were used for teaching driving skills. Snow, ice, snowdrifts, all this was waiting for the laureates, but thanks to practical tips from professional instructors they could learn controlled skidding and driving in special weather conditions. The biggest attraction was a co-drive with Krzysztof Hołowczyc, thanks to whom our Guests could go through snow-covered airport lane with speed exceeding 200 km/h! - Many of them were stunned with full control of the car at such speeds. For me it is great fun to get into a racing car and drive on such terrain. I met lots of interesting people, who I hope had great time and a lot of emotions, because I had a lot of them! There were moments when I was driving over 200 km/h on a snowy road, and I think this was a dose of adrenaline for everyone. There were some long straights, but also several techDrift SS I - fantastic loud sound coming out of a hangar, in which two drift cars were driving at the same time, multiplying experiences. Our Guests could feel and see the whirling dance of two cars, Mazda RX7 and Nissan Skyline, and their meetings were full of fast turns, controlled skidding, wheels loosing traction and smell of burning tyres.

The last SS took place in favourable summer conditions. All attractions took place on the lanes of Nissan Skyline R34 former airport, and our Guests could see from passenger’s seat the drift show of Grzegorz and Bartek, learn from BMW sports driving instructors, sit on driver’s seat of replica of Lotus Super 7 140 Hp and modern Lotus Exige 220 Hp. The icing on the cake turned out to be full of Drifting is driving in controlled emotions and full of spe- skidding. Almost with no limits, the only limit was the time and will of each of the laureates. Everyone wanted to see how it is to sit next to multi Champion of Poland in drift.

Imagine that suddenly someone comes into your office and says: - Listen, maybe we will build a WRC car? There are millions of questions in your head. - What is it supposed to be, how expensive, what is deadline? Before I even realized what task I have to fulfil, on my desk there was a piece of paper, on which Krzysztof Oleksowicz wrote: - I order: a WRC car, 1 piece.
When you hear “Impresa” you can only think about… Hundreds of keywords in your head: Mica Blue, Golden wheels, Colin McRae, boxer, turbo. Your ears can hear the sound of a flat twin engine, even before your eyes can see the blue shape of the body coming out of the bend in the road, just to disappear behind another bend a second later. This is normal, Impreza WRC from the years 1997-1999 was a car, with which you could fall in love, it could even be a platonic love, you could be obsessed with it so much, that even your ringtone was the
sound of this unique engine. In order to listen and see the primitive and simple, but original shape of two-door sedan with a coffee table on the boot you did not need to spend all your salary to go to one round of World Championships. At the end of 90’s, WRC Impreza cars in the hands of Leszek Kuzaj and Krzysztof Hołowczyc were also driven on Polish Special Sections. 14 years later, thanks to Krzysztof Oleksowicz, Impreza will come back to Polish (and not only) special sections. In Fast Forward – Maciek Oleksowicz’s team, the dream of Krzysztof is now being realized – grown up, fully-fledged racing car “dressed” in two-door body of Subaru Impreza. Thanks to Proto class, which was launched with this year’s rules of RSMP, we will not have to go to Lithuania or to Czech Republic, to check how this invention manages on Special Sections. The story about the car was told by a man, who replied to a sentence “let’s build a WRC”: “chal-

lenge accepted”. We are talking about Wojtek Palacz, who deals with supplying spare parts and selling them, and logistics of the team in Fast Forward group. Wojtek is also engaged in constructing and developing racing cars. The concept of replica of Impreza WRC was developed together with mechanic and Subaru specialist – Wojtek Kossak. In April, new Show Car semitrailer was presented for the first time, currently it is being checked “on the battlefield”, going through Europe. First Customers to see the semitrailer and experience its exhibition-training area were Customers from Inter Cars Latvia and Lithuania. In May, Show Car visited Hungary, Croatia and Romania. New Show Car has no special beginning, but it started work on its full capacity. Semitrailer with hydraulic system of extending, made by Etis company, leader on Polish market of constructing special, superstructure bodies. The chassis was delivered by FEBER company. Semitrailer consists of two rooms, main and technical. Main room and VIP room are extended hydraulically to the sides, what makes its cubature much bigger. Training room in the main area takes 40 comfortable seats, 60 inches presentation screen with 3D technology, Soundbar sound system and 6 wireless speakers system installed in the ceiling. On inner walls there are 14 presenters with LED lighting which shows 100% colours and authentic content of graphic content. The floor in the trailer is made of special composite with anti-slip features. The ceiling and walls are made of Dibond composite, which imitates the effect of steel. Very interesting thing is Etis patented system
of opening and closing the stairs, thanks to which when extending the semitrailer, the stairs automatically come to a ready-to-use position. The VIP room is equipped with comfortable sofas, Bosch refrigerator, the most modern LED TV with separate multimedia system to perform separate presentations. Another interesting thing is outer covering of the semitrailer. It is a polymer with honeycomb structure, which characterizes top resistance to weather conditions, but its weight is 3 times lower than standard used outer layers. Moreover new Show Car is equipped with water and wastewater system, air-conditioning and independent power generator. The time of extending the training room to its full operating size is just 15 minutes. Customers of Inter Cars in Poland will have the chance to see the new semitrailer soon, during Garage Masters’ Gala in Karpacz.

Garage mini-barometer MotoFocus portal collected opinions from representatives of garages operating in central and north-eastern Poland. Not treating gained opinions as the “voice of whole industry”, we would like to present the most interesting results. Garages from north-eastern Poland in almost 50% declare that number of Customers in 2012 was the same as in 2011. Almost 39% recorded increase of turnover in their garage. Maybe the cause of such situation is the specifics of the region – high unemployment. Very likely, many people commute to work using their own cars. Interesting findings come from meetings with garages in central area of Poland, where almost the same number of garages declare a decrease in number of customers as declare and increase in number of customers. Here the cause of no increase in number of customers can be accounted by the fact that many people started using public transport, especially in Warsaw and surrounding areas.

Mixture of knowledge and excitement On 15th April the great promotion called Road Show finished, 1,000 invitations for Customers of Inter Cars S.A. were the rewards. The idea was simple. The reward for reaching high turnover was participation in training and racing cycle of events all over Poland. The laureates met in four places in Poland: At the airport in Kamień Śląski, on the racing track in Poznań, in Academy of Safe Driving in Toruń and on Race Course in Warsaw. The vouchers are valid till the end of December 2013. Purchase voucher is a full value form of payment in Inter Cars S.A. distribution chain all over Poland. We also wish to remind you that starting from 20th May 2013 points gathered two years before will start becoming void. This means that from now on, each point gathered on your account will only be valid for two years. So if you have a lot of points on your account, and they will soon be out of date, it is worth changing them to purchase vouchers as soon as possible.

Telematics: a chance or a threat? Telematics is a possibility of sending and receiving information by cars via satellite connection system. Without suitable law regulations it can become a tool which will be very useful for drivers, but it may also become a tool which will clean pockets and wallets of drivers. Telematics are very popular among many drivers right now - one of its most popular tools is every automotive navigation system. It is natural that its functions are developed in the future with new features, such as sending information between the cars about, e.g. free places for parking – one driver leaves a parking place, the other one gets information about a free place. Also new are systems automatically informing emergency services in case of an accident (eCall – Emergency Call). Right now such system works in e.g. Subaru model called ISR. No-one questions its usefulness, as human life may depend on it. But absolutely new feature is bCall (breakdown Call – calling for help in case of a car breakdown). Thanks to telematics a modern car is able to inform about error codes recorded in OBD system not only the owner of the car, but also the manufacturer. What is more, the manufacturer can remote read all error codes and data from the computer and delete recorded information or perform software update, also when the car is not in use. In case of finding a malfunction or even possibility of a malfunction (e.g. low oil pressure, transforming into emergency mode of the engine), telematics will direct the driver to the nearest authorised service station. It is not difficult to imagine a

situation in which a driver will suddenly receive an information: Malfunction, go to authorised service station “XXX”, when he will be really much closer to an independent garage, which he would probably prefer to use. But the system will not let us do it – only a particular authorised garage will get the information about the malfunction detected in our vehicle. This is a direct threat for free competition on the market – says Alfred Franke, SDCM Chairman. It may even be the basis of a blackmail of the dealers by the manufacturers: If you don’t adapt to our rules and guidelines, we will not send cars to your garage. That is why it is so important to take legislation steps to regulate the rules of operating of automotive systems as open systems, to which access will be granted also for an operator of an independent aftermarket having a device with wireless communication system and suitable software.
FREE COMPETITION Currently these systems have a closed character, i.e. access to information is only granted for car manufacturers. This limits the free choice of Customers: it is outrageous that the car forces the driver to go and use a particular repair garage, just like a jacket, from which a button fell off cannot force its
owner to go to a particular tailor. We also need to take into consideration the fact that thanks to open systems in the cars, each driver will be able in the future to install such applications as he needs, and not only those which cost a lot and are made available by car manufacturers. For the free access to automotive systems in vehicles fight an organization called AFCAR, supported by European organization associating car dealers (CECRA) and FIGIEFA association, and in Poland – by Automotive Spare Parts Distributors Association. First successes are already reached: European Parliament suggested European Commission the need of opening automotive systems in vehicles. Unfortunately, this is just a beginning of a long and difficult way. The bill went for internal consultations, during which all the parties are supposed to present their arguments for and against. But it is worth remembering that besides these, we are also preparing other publications which are dedicated to particular topics. Gala News is a special edition of IC News which is only dedicated to Garage Masters’ Gala and promotions connected with it. The first issue was published in February this year and was distributed to Customers just like the regular issue of IC News. The second issue will be released in June and distributed among participants of Gala in Karpacz. You will find all the information regarding Gala, schedule, description of attractions and the whole event. Promotion Newsletter in a new form includes current information about the newest promotions. Lately we have put emphasise on Great Race Contest and Special Sections accompanying it. The newsletter is sent to Customers twice a month by e-mail. The new form of newsletter is in the form of e-newspaper, and promotions in it are assigned to particular categories. It is very helpful and comfortable tool with detailed information about all promotions organized by Inter Cars for its Customers. Service News is a garage newsletter created especially for Inter Cars S.A. Customers. Truck Offer is a quarterly magazine in which, besides basic trade information, we are putting emphasis on spare parts for complete truck systems. Also available at www.truck.intercars.com. pl. Distribution performed via Polish Post to selected target group. Inter Truck is a quarterly magazine for garage owners whose garages perform repairs on trucks and busses. In next issue you will find technical articles and tests in which topics connected with garage management and technical culture of performing repairs of cars are touched. After a really successful inauguration of II Edition in Częstochowa, Young HR Programme went to capital city of Podlasia and to Nowy Sącz. Similar to event in Częstochowa, the event in Białystok generated a big interest among local authorities, suppliers and also local media, which prepared large report in TVP Białystok. Besides traditional speeches, very important part of the event was presentation of devices delivered within the programme. Teachers, who will be working with pupils on this equipment, presented to the guests what it can be used for. It was not difficult to notice enthusiasm in their eyes. They emphasised the fact that it will improve their possibilities of passing their knowledge to young people. Back to the origin On 30th April 2013 there was official opening of branch in Koszyce (Slovakia) in new premises. It was a special event, because this city was the origin and beginning of business operations of Inter Cars in Slovak market. The branch in Koszyce was opened in 2005 and since that day Inter Cars have constantly been developing its position in Slovakia. Today it has 13 branches. Just like than, when this town was chosen for the beginning of expansion, today in Koszyce we are beginning changes which can set the direction for development of the whole chain in Slovakia. New branch in Koszyce is able to guarantee long term development and efficient logistic operations. Warehouse area of new branch is 1,200 m2 with possibility of enlar-
ging it to 1,800 m2, with over 19,000 goods. Outlet area enlarged up to 260 m2 will not only serve Customers from Koszyce, but also all Customers from eastern Slovakia. Comfortable parking lot, place for presenting the equipment and training rooms – these are other advantages of new premises.
