Some of the featured signature dishes are Beef Carpaccio by Italian Chef Theo Randall; Wagyu loin, spinach butter and bone marrow by Modern Australian Chef Ross Lusted and for dessert, Raspberry meringue pie by Global Baker Chef Dean Brettschneider.

HOTEL NEWS INTERCON FAMILIES JOINS JZA CUP CHAMPION FUN RUN 2015 InterContinental Manila employees brought their friends and families to join others from the Ayala Corporation for the Back-to-Back JZA Cup Champion Fun Run 2015 last February 28, 2015 at Circuit Makati.

The run which was organized by Ayala Land, aims to promote camaraderie between companies from various industries under Ayala group of companies. The corporation is currently under the supervision of Chairman and CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala who succeeded Chairman Emeritus Jaime Zobel de Ayala or fondly referred to as JZA by employees.

HOTEL NEWS BRAND STANDARD HERO QUIZ ENDS LAST MARCH 6 With a pledge to be number one, InterContinental Hotel Group recently launched the IHG Brand Standard Hero Quiz last January 12, 2015 to encourage hotel staff to familiarize themselves with their respective hotel brands. Joining this global initiative is the Philippine cluster including Holiday Inn & Suites Makati and InterContinental Manila.

The Standard Hero Quiz is an 8-week online quiz which can be accessed through a creation of account at the standardshero.ihg.com. Each week, top players from all over the world as well as from each property were posted in the Hall of Fame section. Top player from each property and across AMEA will win IHG速 Rewards Club points.

Winners across AMEA were announced last March 20. Ms. Darleen Alcantara from Reservations team was awarded as Brand Standards Hero Winner for InterContinental Manila taking home a 10,000 IHG速 Rewards Club points.

LAZY HAZY CRAZY DAYS OF SUMMER AT ANVAYA COVE It’s that time of the year where summer is fast approaching and employees are gearing up for long weekend vacations. With this in mind, InterContinental Manila and Holiday Inn & Suites Makati hype up the summer spirit with a two-day company outing last March 16 & 17 at Anvaya Cove, Bataan.

INSIDER GUIDE MORIONES FESTIVAL March 30 to April 5 The Moriones Festival is an annual folk-religious event in Marinduque held during holy week in celebration of the life of Longinus, the soldier who pierced the Christ during Crucifixion.

The official celebration starts from Holy Monday and ends on Easter Sunday, where the festivities climaxed to a local reenactment of Longinus’ beheading. One of the main attractions during the festival is the Moriones march wherein masked figures, elaborately dressed as centurions chased after Longinus around the different parts of town. There are also Moriones pageants wherein the most creative festival masks are being showcased.

NATIONAL DAY OF VALOR April 9 Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) is a public holiday celebrated every April 9. The event which is also known as “Bataan Day”, commemorates heroism of the Filipino soldiers during World War II. Following the aftermath of war and the fall of the Bataan where Filipino-US troops was forced to surrender to the Japanese occupation.

During this siege, thousands of Filipino and American prisoners of war were forced to march on foot from Bataan to San Fernando (90 miles). A large number of them died along the way labeling the forced trek as “Death March of Bataan”, Today, the celebration usually consists of parade by war veterans and the President’s annual speech at Mt. Samat shrine.
