HOTEL NEWS MAGIC MIKE XXL SCREENING: A REEL TREAT FOR IREWARDS AND INN REWARDS MEMBERS The night was seethed with delight and excitement from the lady bookers of the IRewards of InterContinental Manila and InnRewards of Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, as they were treated to an advance screening of the movie “Magic Mike XXL” last July 7, 2015 at MyCinema, Greenbelt 3. Ms. Maricor Aquino, Area Director of Sales and Marketing officially opened the program with gratified remarks for the loyalty of IRewards and InnRewards members before she introduced the newest global business booking programme, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Business Rewards Club, which is designed by IHG to offer rewards for every business booked at any participating hotel. The perks and enrollment procedures for IHG Business Rewards were elaborated by Assistant Director of Sales, Sharon Castillo, through an interactive presentation explaining guest room booking for a client, meeting arrangement, or event booking in a hotel’s function room can earn rewards points that can be converted for hotel stays, air travel, electronic gadgets, branded merchandise or restaurant gift certificates at any of the IHG participating hotels. Hosted by the comedic, Joy Meneses, Marketing Communications Manager of InterContinental Manila, the guests were treated to exciting prizes, trivia games, and sumptuous cocktail spread prepared by InterContinental Manila’s Executive Chef Jean-Marc Veron. Students are encouraged to participate in several Filipino speech competition exposing them to Filipino classic declamation, oration, and other choir pieces. While the Philippines continues to be a country of many dialects, It is important to establish one common language to express unity as initiated by President Manuel L. Quezon, Father of the Philippine Language. It is in this notion that all schoolchildren are taught Filipino (Based on Tagalog) designated as the national language by the constitution of the Philippines in 1987.
NATIONAL HEROES DAY (AUGUST 31) National Heroes Day is a National Public Holiday celebrated every last Monday of August to honor and commemorate the country’s heroes throughout the different phase of history. The actual holiday date, marks the Cry of Pugad Lawin in 1896 by the Katipunan led by Andres Bonifacio. This event started the Philippine Revolution and ultimately ended with the Philippine Independence.
NINOY AQUINO DAY (AUGUST 21) Ninoy Aquino Day is special non-working holiday to commemorate the death of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. The assassination of Ninoy Aquino started a public outcry that led to People Power Revolution and eventually the downfall of President Ferdinand Marcos.
