SUMMARY

The project chooses to renovate one of the buildings of the tourist base in Birštonas. In order to expand the context of the traditional leisure Birštonas, an artists’ residence with exhibition spaces is being designed.

Such a function was chosen after analyzing the location and the context of Birštonas. Traditionally, Birštonas is dominated by the offer of physical recreation services, and the less urbanized other side of the Nemunas turned out to be suitable for the implementation of the idea of “artistic escape”.

The natural environment with the possibility to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is especially suitable for the residence of artists. In such an environment, the artist has the opportunity to distance himself and concentrate on the work.

Adapting to the existing structure of the building and taking into account the peculiarities of the location, the new functional scheme is developed by planning two exhibition spaces, common workspaces for artists and short-term and long-term accommodation rooms for artists.

The function developed in the designed building would expand the cultural context of Birštonas, organize the accommodation of artists, organize exhibitions, film screenings, plein airs, art festivals.

SANTRAUKA

Projektu pasirenkama atnaujinti vieną iš turistinės bazės pastatų, esančių Birštone. Siekiant praplėsti tradicinio poilsinio Birštono kontekstą, projektuojama menininkų rezidencija su ekspozicijų erdvėmis.

Tokia funkcija pasirinkta išanalizavus lokacijos duotybes bei Birštono kontekstą.Tradiciškai Birštone dominuoja ficinės rekreacijos paslaugų pasiūla, o mažiau urbanizuota kita Nemuno pusė pasirodė tinkama “meninio pabėgimo” idėjos įgyvendinimui.

Gamtinė aplinka su galimybe pabėgti nuo kasdienybės šurmulio yra ypač tinkama menininkų rezidencijoms įsikurti. Tokioje aplinkoje menininkas turi galimybę atsiriboti ir susikaupti darbui.

Prisitaikant prie esamos pastato struktūros ir įvertinus lokacijos ypatumus naujoji funkcinė schema kuriama planuojant dvi ekspozicijų erdves, bendros menininkų darbo erdves bei trumpalaikio ir ilgalaikio menininkų apsistojimo kambarius.

Projektuojamame pastate plėtojama funkcija praplėstų Birštono kultūrinį kontekstą, organizuojamas menininkų apgyvendinimą, rengiant parodas, kino seansus, plenerus, meninius festivalius.
