The International Baccalaureate Diploma is the gold-standard for college preparation IB Diploma students enter colleges already prepared for the upper level thinking, sophisticated writing, global mindedness and independent research skills that lie ahead. During his keynote speech at the recent IB Higher Education Symposium at Stanford, our 2013 Valedictorian, Andrew Beckman declared: Much of what I learned as an IB student has carried over to my studies at Stanford and has given me an advantage...the kind of critical thinking the IB instills and the skills it helps develop (e.g. the skill of writing) are very much in line with--perhaps even above--what is expected of me so far in college.
The power of the Extended Essay experience A memorable rite of passage for IB Diploma Diploma students is writing an independent research paper conforming to international academic conventions. Students are free to choose their own research question and mentor teacher. There is a tremendous sense of pride upon completion of the Extended Essay. When the first college mid-term paper comes along IB Diploma students feel confident and prepared when many of their peers are feeling overwhelmed by the task. Referring to finishing his own Extended Essay, Andrew Beckman stated: I'm so glad I did! Although I'm only in my third week here at Stanford, I can already tell that I have a much easier time writing papers when compared to a lot of my classmates. The skills
required to master the Extended Essay are very much in line with what is expected of me here at Stanford. LINK TO FOUR REAL EXTENDED ESSAYS
Unrivaled Performing Arts
Cabaret just closed to rave reviews! Here are two of them: Bravo! The performance was unbelievable. Phenomenal talent, loved every minute of it. I did not want it to end. What an evening! The lights, the color, the music and singing, the energy and story are all spectacular. Only at the final bow--when the actors jump out of character--will you realize that this was a show put on by students. LINK TO OUR 2013-2014 FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS CALENDER
