application process
Making the match. Application Procedures for the Academic Year 2014-2015 Step 1 – Make an electronic inquiry and tour the school Visit our Lower and Middle School Admission webpages at www.frenchamericansf.org. Use the link to make an electronic Inquiry. You will be asked to create an account. You will receive a username and password automatically. Log into your account and sign up for a school tour (available dates are listed). Also you can reserve a space at our Open House (October 17, 2013 at 5:45pm).
Step 2 – Submit Application Complete the on-line application and pay the $100.00 fee by credit card. Send a scanned copy of your child’s birth certificate (livret de famille if your child is a French citizen) and a photo to coumbad@frenchamericansf.org A confidential student Recommendation Form must be completed and sent directly to us by your previous school. E-mail is strongly preferred.
For Grades 2 though 8 only: Arrange to have official report cards covering the previous two academic years, or dossier from a sister French school, sent directly to our office. Screenings are required for local applicants. Deadline for application: Monday December 16, 2013 Deadline for sibling/staff/alum application: Friday November 15, 2013
Step 3 – Attend a Saturday screening Saturday screenings are required for all local PK4 and K applicants. After verifying that all required application documents have been received, sign up for a morning or afternoon slot on January 19 or February 1, 2014. The sibling screening is held in December 2013. We do not formally evaluate PK3 candidates. Instead we meet them during a parent interview.
Step 4 – Receive decision Letter Acceptance packages include contracts and final decisions for any financial aid applicants. Electronic decision confirmations are sent 24 hours later. During “silent week” we will not initiate contact with families but are available if follow up visits or clarification questions are requested. PK3 and PK4 mailing: March 4, 2014 (Deadline for response: March 11th) K-8 mailing: March 19, 2014 for K (Deadline for response: March 26nd) For sibling/staff families, acceptance letters are sent in early February
Step 5 – Enroll Enrollment is secured by the return of signed contract and deposit check before the published deadline.
Step 6 – Attend Welcome Events Soon after enrollment, new families are invited by our welcome committee to a series of family-oriented events and informational sessions.
