Since December 21, 2007, Poland is part of the Schengen Area, thirdcountry nationals may enter Poland if they are in possession of a valid travel document and a visa (if required). When crossing the border third-country nationals are also obliged to justify the purpose and conditions of intended stay and prove that they have sufficient means of subsistence, both for the period of intended stay and for return to their country of origin or transit to a third state into which they are certain to be admitted, or are in a position to acquire such means lawfully. Moreover, they must not be listed as persons who have been refused entry, and they must not be considered a threat to public policy, national security or the international relations of any of the Schengen states.
Summing up, regardless if you require visa or not, you should carry with you: •
a valid travel document
•
an invitation letter
•
a document confirming either that you paid conference fees or your entity did/will pay conference fees for you
•
a proof that you have enough money to stay in Poland or travel in Schengen zone for the whole period of your intended stay
•
a copy of a return flight ticket or a proof that you have enough money to return to your country

You can find full list of visa-exempt countires here. Citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro and Serbia are required to have
biometric passports.
Citizens of all countries except visa-exempt countires listed on previous page have to apply for short-stay
Schengen C-type visa.
This visa entitles the holder to stay in the territory of all Schengen states and is valid for stays of no more than 90 days within a period of 180 days from the date of first entry.

Contacting a consular post to determine the required documents
Before filling in the application, you are advised to contact the consular post where you intend to submit the visa application, to find out what additional documents will be required in your particular case. You can find Poland’s missions abroad search engine here. Note: during the submission of your application, the consul or other authorized employee of the consular post, after examining the documents attached to the application, may decide that additional documents are required.
Making your appointment
Go to https://secure.e-konsulat.gov.pl/ and select a convenient date for submitting your application and additional documents.

Submitting your application
Fill in on the same website and print out your application. Note: failure to fill in the application within one hour of choosing the appointment date will result in annulment of the application.
Submit your printed application and additional documents (the ones listed on next page and any other additional documents individually specified by the consul) on your appointment date, at the relevant consular post.
Remember to apply for visa as soon as possible, due to summer time and World Youth Day happening in Poland, waiting time might be longer than usual. .
1. Travel document:
- valid at least three months after the planned departure from Poland/Schengen territory; - with at least 2 blank pages; - issued within the last ten years.
2. Completed and signed visa application form 3. Biometric photo 4. Visa fee (approximately 60 EUR) 5. Health insurance of at least EUR 30 000, valid in the entire Schengen territory.
6. Supplementary documents, confirming:
- the purpose of the visit, - possession of accommodations; - possession of sufficient funds to cover the cost of entry, stay and departure from the Schengen territory or Poland; - readiness to depart from Schengen territory after expiry of the visa - reservation of the return ticket.
