Fourth graders visit the PANAMUNXXIV Gallery Show Students in the 4th grade classes had been studying migration, including the various reasons people migrate. One of the reasons people migrate today, are extremely difficult circumstances. They were taken to the exhibit were they defined what was PANAMUN, and were they read about the meaning of the conference theme Fostering Global Resilience. Students then were able to appreciate and identify different world issues, which caused migration. “The drawing pieces which were presented as sequential art interested the students very much “ said gallery curator Ella Faulkner. Works by Andrea Quintero( 11th Grade) "Refugees from Hungary", "Hope and Teady Bear" by Tomer Vico (9th Grade) , as well as "Trump" by Santiago Tovar (9th Grade) were of great interest to the young visitors.

Elementary School Becky Jobes, PhD—Elementary Principal—bjobes@isp.edu.pa Wellness Week A reminder that our school-wide wellness week will take place during the week we return from break – November 7th-11th. In the elementary school we have special activities planned during lunch and recess times. For parents we have great workshops that we will be offering from experts in our community. Please see the schedule and plan on attending when you are able to do so. Conscious Discipline #3-Tuesday, November 8 at 10:30AM Our next parent coffee will be the third class of our Conscious Discipline workshops that we have been offering over the last few months. Please plan on joining us! No School-Thursday, November 10 Please mark your calendars that there is no school on Thursday, November 10. Looking Ahead – Toy Drive Much like years in the past, the elementary school will be hosting our annual Toy Drive for FANLYC. Our toy drive will run November 21-25. We are asking that each student brings in one gift (boys bring a boy gift and girls bring in a girl gift) to benefit the boys and girls who are receiving support from FANLYC due to medical conditions here in Panama. More information will go out after break! Family Literacy Night-Moved from November to February In February we will host a Literacy Night that is similar to what we did with Math Night in September. This was originally planned and advertised for November, but we are changing the date. Dear parents, We know that many of you have shown great interest in attending our parent coffee regarding our Conscious Discipline program. We also understand how difficult it is to manage time, in order to accomplish all of those things we have on our to do list. Sometimes our schedules do not match our interests and we are forced to miss out on some important events. Therefore, we have decided to send out a short summary of what this last Conscious Discipline session was about. The idea is to help guide you for our next parent coffee and that way you will have the basic points that have been discussed. In this summary, you will find information regarding composure and some basic strategies that will help your children gain control when faced with difficult situations. Click here to view the handout. We hope to see you in our next Conscious Discipline parent coffee. Kindly, ES Counseling
