ISP GIVING BACK AND RAISING AWARNESS FOR MOVEMBER
What is Movember? Movember is a movement for men's health. For 30 days in the month formerly known as November, Men around the world grow their moustaches to rally to support the cause, get people talking and raise funds for men’s health projects, such as, cancer & mental health issues. ISP's Movember team, los Hombres del Bigote, believes that knowledge is power and conversations save lives. Why should you care? With early detection, many/all of these health issues are treatable and curable. Think about the men that you care about in your life: Brother, Father, Friend, etc. When was the last time that they visited their doctor for a check up? Help raise awareness and donate vital funds towards men's cancer & mental health research. Please visit our donation page at http://mobro.co/loshombresdelbigote for more information about how you can help.

Elementary School Becky Jobes, PhD—Elementary Principal—bjobes@isp.edu.pa “A Colorful Christmas Toy Drive” Dear ISP Families, This holiday season, a time of sharing, our school will again host a “Toy-a-Thon” to benefit the children at FANLYC. This gift donation will replace the classic class gift exchange between our students during this season. As many of you already know, FANLYC is an organization that covers the cost of cancer treatment for over 900 children all over Panama. FANLYC organizes a Christmas party for the children they serve as part of the social-emotional support their foundation provides. This year this party will take place Sunday, December 11th and at this event, each FANLYC child receives at least five presents. Sadly, for some of these children, this might be their last Christmas and others have been through very hard and painful times; therefore FANLYC wants them to have a wonderful Christmas and nice gifts to remember. Here at ISP we want to contribute to this cause by having each ISP student in the Elementary School bring a new toy to share with a FANLYC friend. We emphasize that the gift must be new and NOT WRAPPED. We are asking for your participation by purchasing and sending to school an unwrapped gift that will be shared with a FANLYC child. The recommended gift value is $15-$20 for the age group assigned to your child’s grade level. If your child is a boy, send a boy gift. If your child is a girl, send a girl gift. PK3/4= age 4-6 years K= age 6-8 years
1st grade= age 8-10 years 2nd grade= age 10-12 years 3rd grade= age 12-14 years 5th grade= any age group We will be collecting donations starting Monday, Nov. 21st until Friday, December 2nd. With your support we would like to build a huge “Toy Mountain” in the Elementary School as a gift from the ISP community to these brave children. The Student Representative Council will be delivering these gifts to the FANLYC house the week of December 5th. You can find more information at www.fanlyc.org.pa.
FANLYC calls people who help them “Little Stars” (Estrellitas) and they have a song that goes “Come little star, like you I want to shine” So let’s all be “estrellitas”. Sincerely,
FANLYC Committee, Kindergarten Team, and the Student Representative

Athletics: #GOISPDOLPHINS! Peter Smyth, Athletic Director—psmyth@isp.edu.pa Varsity boys basketball Coach Hentz feels like he's been coaching basketball this school year since the day school started. And he has! The Varsity boys have been competing in both ADECOP and the Kiwanis leagues this semester. The Kiwanis league started straight away in August picking up where it left off in late June with cross over matches from Panama city and Colon teams. The ISP Dolphins made it through the Panama region qualifying games to the latter stages of the tournament. On Wednesday the boys lost out in the final seconds of their knock out game against Abel Bravo but not without putting up a great fight in the final quarter. If you've been able to watch the boys play, either in person or on TV, you will know that they like to keep their fans on the edge of their seats. Many games have been close and often not decided until very late - sometimes the final seconds - in the game. Which brings us to .... ISP secure best ever AASCA result in Honduras The boys basketball program has been growing and improving steadily over the last 5 years. This years AASCA team traveled to Honduras with some extremely tough games under their belts and a whole semester of playing behind them. They were fit, tough and excited to once again show that ISP in Panama could compete with the other powerhouse schools of AASCA. They certainly did not disappoint. Good group play performances saw them in an extremely tight semi final match up against EAS. With 5 seconds to go the score was tied 38-38. Unfortunately it was not to be ISP's day with the final score 39-38. The 3rd place game saw ISP playing AST who had previously been the only team to beat them in the group stages. The Dolphins played their hearts out. Great defense, forced turnovers and mistakes that the Dolphins were able to convert into points. Final score ISP 47 - AST 43 and a historic 3rd place to ISP. An AASCA best for the ISP Dolphins. Congratulations to all the players and coaches and thank you to all the parents that have helped grow a wonderful basketball culture at ISP. Sub 14 Soccer - Boys ADECOP Champions The Sub 14 boys finished their season in style with a convincing victory over the Balboa Dragons. Coach Riano was able to give a large squad of boys valuable experience that they will be able to take into the senior soccer program. Congratulations boys and thank you to all the parents that came out to cheer on the Dolphins. Copa Talento matches this weekend The girls play Saturday at 2 pm against SAP The boys play Sunday at 10:20 am against CRP AASCA Knowledge Bowl Our Knowledge Bowl students head out to Honduras on Wednesday for this years AASCA Knowledge Bowl. Good luck!
