FAST FORWARD ACTIVITY REPORT 2017
PROFILE
ONE OF THE EUROPEAN LEADERS IN URBAN MOBILITY We built our first multi-storey car park in the centre of Brussels 60 years ago. Since then, Interparking has become one of the European leaders in the urban mobility sector. We develop a range of innovative products and services intended to ease traffic conditions in European cities and their surrounding areas by focusing on three strategic priorities: continuous improvement of the quality of our services ; an innovative range of mobility solutions to address the challenges of cities; a responsible policy which protects the environment. This vision has enabled Interparking to expand beyond the Belgian borders and develop its activities in another 8 European countries: the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Poland and Romania. We are thus able to offer our customers 898 sites, representing a total of 373,455 parking spaces across Europe. Our strategy of innovation and expansion is reflected in the figures. In 2017, the Interparking Group generated a recurrent turnover of 437.8 million euros and an economic EBITDA of 137.6 million euros (recurrent consolidated EBITDA of 132.5 million euros). Our portfolio of car parks increases every year with new projects, acquisitions and renovations which not only attract users but also achieve recognition from professionals in the sector. Interparking – a member of the European Parking Association and the Fédération Belge du Stationnement [Belgian Parking Federation] – has obtained 187 European Standard Parking Awards. These certifications reflect the seriousness of the work carried out by our teams and the quality of our car parks.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY At Interparking we believe that every firm should contribute to creating a healthier environment for everyone. The environmental impact of each new project is studied in detail in order to develop cleaner solutions such as energy-efficient LED lighting. We also encourage environmentally-friendly means of transport by developing suitable areas for shared vehicles and providing charging points for electric vehicles. By financing environmental projects in emerging countries, we have also managed to compensate for our carbon dioxide emissions. This approach has led us to be certified as a “CO 2 neutral firm” in all the countries in which we are present.

THE DIGITAL TRANSITION IS UNDERWAY ROLAND CRACCO, CEO OF INTERPARKING, PRESENTS THE NOTABLE EVENTS OF 2017 AND OUTLINES THE MAIN CHALLENGES FACING THE GROUP IN 2018.
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION OF THE PAST YEAR? “2017 was a busy year for Interparking from both a commercial and symbolic point of view. Let us begin with the symbolic aspect: after 58 years of good, loyal service, the very first car park which marked the start of the adventure finally closed down and was dismantled. Parking 58 in Brussels has played an important role in the history of parking in Belgium and in Europe. It also closes a chapter and marks our entry into a new era with more comfortable car parks and leading-edge technological equipment, efficient services for customers and, above all, the current digitisation of the Interparking experience.
2
| Interparking
2017 was also a particularly active year from an operational and commercial point of view. In Belgium, for example, we completed the launch of the new P1 VIP car park at Brussels Airport which marks a new stage in the development of top-ofthe-range services. We also launched the renovation of the Industrie car park in Brussels and continued with the construction of new car parks on the sites of Grognon in Namur and Brabant-Gare du Nord in Brussels.”
INTERPARKING SEEMS TO BE FOCUSING ON STRENGTHENING ITS POSITION IN THE COUNTRIES AND CITIES IN WHICH THE GROUP IS ALREADY PRESENT. IS THIS A STRATEGIC DECISION? “Absolutely. We have referred to the case of Belgium as an example. However, we have also been highly productive in the other countries in which the group is present. Some examples include the inauguration of the car park at the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, the reopening of the François 1er car park in Paris following its renovation, the acquisition of Comsa Aparcamientos (15 sites, 8,023 spaces) in Spain, the acquisition of the Europa car park in Florence, designed by the famous engineer Nervi, the numerous acquisitions in Austria and Germany, the strengthening of links with Gdansk airport in Poland, the inauguration of the Museumkwartier car park in The Hague and the acquisition of a car park in Timisoara in Romania. All these achievements share common characteristics: we are strengthening our presence in countries where we have already developed local expertise.
This strategy is producing concrete results: 12 new car parks obtained ESPA certification in 2017. Our Am Museumsquartier car park in Vienna obtained the EPA Award for the best renovated car park in Europe, whilst our Italian subsidiary SIS was nominated in the category of on-street parking for its car parks in Castel Gandolfo. We were also nominated for the Sablettes car park in Menton in France and for the Inter car park in Bucharest.” WHAT IS THE OUTLOOK FOR 2018? “Our ambition remains unchanged: to strengthen our role as a partner for ci ties to propose effective, innovative high-quality solutions. We are therefore continuing to invest considerable resources in cultivating our expertise in this area. On the one hand, we are investing a great deal in the development of our employees’ skills. In 2017, we provided over 5,270 hours of training at our Interparking school in Belgium targeting a wide range of peo-
ple from blue collars to park managers. On the other hand, we are working towards ambitious targets in terms of the digitisation of our services. This explains why we have doubled the size of our IT team and this is the framework of our 3+1 digital stra tegy. The aim initially is to make the online process easier for booking a parking space or ordering a subscription or a Pcard. At a later stage, we plan to dematerialize the Pcard as soon as the necessary technology is available. In order to achieve these aims, we also intend to devote a great deal of energy to identifying and sharing best practices within the group particularly in terms of reducing our environmental footprint.”
ARE THE SUCCESSFUL ACHIEVEMENTS OF INTERPARKING IN 2017 ALSO REFLECTED IN THE FIGURES? “Two years ago, in 2016, we surpassed the milestone of 100 million customers. In 2017, we had a total of 117.3 million customers. We are extremely grateful for their support. In 2017, 52 new businesses were added to our portfolio of car parks. We ended the year with a recurrent turnover of 437.8 millions euros which represents a 7% increase compared with last year. Our recurrent EBITDA has increased by 9% to 132.5 million euros. We currently have 2,400 employees within the group. I would like to thank all our employees as well as
our shareholders most sincerely for their confidence and support in helping us fulfil our objectives.” WILL 2018 BE A NOTABLE YEAR? “In 2018, we will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of Interparking. This should encourage us to continue to serve our customers for at least 60 years more.”
Roland Cracco, CEO

THE ACCESSIBILITY OF URBAN CENTRES
373 455
Every major city in Europe is affected somehow by the current debates about changes in mobility. Some are exemplary in having developed particularly innovative solutions which have a direct effect on the quality of life of their inhabitants. Others, however, are sometimes singled out for their wait-and-see attitude or lack of ima gination which are reflected on a daily basis in ever-increasing traffic jams. However, in order to accompany the changes in our lifestyle, working relations and consumption habits, there needs to be a fundamental change in the way in which we view city traffic. major urban centres are currently working on the development of parking spaces in response to users’ requirements. The 373,455 parking spaces that we provide have a direct impact in terms of alleviating the pressure of vehicles on the roads. The free space provided is equivalent to a 1,867 km queue of cars and therefore benefit pedestrians, cyclists, public transport users and supporters of shared or soft mobility. Interparking stands out as a leading player in the designing of cities of the future from Rome to Berlin and from Amsterdam to
Paris in the vicinity of stations or through its direct links with airports. It provides smooth-running traffic areas, shorter journey times, cleaner air and varied means of transport which coexist in an environment that can be reclaimed by every individual within it.

MOBILITY HAS BECOME ONE OF THE MAIN CONCERNS OF THOSE INVOLVED IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING THE PUBLIC AUTHORITIES, LOCAL CITIZENS, USERS AND ASSOCIATIONS AS WELL AS THE PRIVATE SECTOR. WE ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO SEEK INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS WHICH REDEFINE MEANS OF TRANSPORT WITHIN AND BETWEEN CITIES. NO MOBILITY POLICY WILL BE ABLE TO BEAR FRUIT WITHOUT CAREFULLY CONSIDERED PARKING ARRANGEMENTS. Interparking stimulates the development of urban dynamism by providing comfortable, secure, accessible car parks which are equipped with the latest technology in order to enable traffic to flow more smoothly in city centres and their surrounding areas.
FRANCE: A NEW LEASE OF LIFE FOR THE FRANÇOIS 1ER The François 1er car park in Paris was built about fifty years ago. It is exceptionally well located at the heart of the “Golden Triangle” in the immediate vicinity of the Champs Elysées and Avenue Montaigne, the Georges V and Plazza Athénée hotels and the Dior and Vuitton boutiques. In 2014, the city of Paris decided that it was time for a complete overhaul of the car park and to grant access to disabled people. Interparking was awarded the contract and, after 24 months of work, the François 1er reopened in October 2017. The car park is lit with natural light right down to the first underground level which is exceptional, particularly in Paris. It offers 655 spaces and is equipped with a guidance system, dynamic notice boards, LED lighting, a washing station, video surveillance and, of course, comfortable access for disabled people.

“OUR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS DEPENDENT ON ALL OUR CAR PARKS PROVIDING A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.”
The relocation of the head offices in Brussels to the new premises in rue Brederode has brought together the administrative services, technical facilities and the Interparking school under the same roof creating a new dynamic for all staff members. THE INTERPARKING EXPERIENCE
TRAINING: CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENTS In order to maintain an optimum level of quality, Interparking provides high-level trai ning for its employees. This enables them not only to develop their skills but also to be more able to respond to the changing needs of the cities of the future.
Our customer satisfaction is dependent on all our car parks providing a positive experience in terms of accessibility, rapid payment facilities, guidance, lighting, etc. Intelligent LED lighting, for example, enables us to reduce our energy consumption. This technology improves lighting and above all enhances the feeling of security, which is an essential factor in terms of our users’ satisfaction. Interparking is also investing in more efficient ventilation
systems which automatically adapt to the level of CO detected in the car parks. We are also gradually equipping our facilities with new generation lifts fitted with glass doors. In addition, drivers save precious time thanks to the online booking systems. In the Netherlands, for example, it is now possible to book a parking space on line in the 4 cities which attract the largest number of visitors: The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. Bookings can also be made via our free mobile application.

PROXIMITY DEDICATED MEN AND WOMEN AT THE FOREFRONT WE HAVE ALSO INTEGRATED THE LATEST TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN OUR COMMUNICATION METHODS WITH CUSTOMERS. HOWEVER, THE HUMAN PRESENCE IN OUR CAR PARKS ALSO CREATES A FEELING OF SECURITY AND TRUST. IN THIS RESPECT, OUR EMPLOYEES ARE STILL THE BEST AMBASSADORS FOR OUR BRAND. THEY ARE CONTINUALLY WORKING ON ENHANCING THE SATISFACTION OF OUR CUSTOMERS AS A BASIS FOR THE DURABILITY OF THE GROUP.
MEN AND WOMEN PRESENT IN THE CAR PARKS Regardless of the efforts made in developing new technological solutions, human contact is the only way of guaranteeing that suitable responses are provided to the questions raised by our customers. In addition to the teams on site and thanks to the control rooms which are available 24/7, Interparking is able to offer remote assistance for its customers. They can speak to one of our employees on request. Mobile teams are ready to intervene if necessary. We currently operate 11 control rooms in Belgium, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Poland and France. Our employees maintain a visual contact at all times with the situation in our car parks from the control room. They can also control the opening and closing of barriers, as well as all the techniques and alarms remotely. The feedback obtained from countries which have been pioneers in this area, such as Belgium and the Netherlands, has been used to coordinate the establishment of similar control rooms in other countries such as Poland and Italy. Interparking opened its first control room in Italy in February 2017. It supervises the car parks in Venice Tronchetto, Padova Centro and Padova Stazione.

“INTERPARKING HAS STEPPED UP ITS EFFORTS IN TERMS OF HUMAN PRESENCE IN ITS CAR PARKS.”
CAR PARK SECURITY IS A MAJOR PRIORITY Given the challenges created by the terro rist attacks in Paris, Brussels, Nice, Barcelona and Berlin, Interparking has stepped up its efforts in terms of human presence in its car parks. In Brussels, for example, patrols by Interparking dog handlers have increased to enhance the feeling of safety and allow for immediate intervention in difficult situations. The dog handlers have a twofold role to play. They guarantee both safety and security. The former covers the prevention of verbal or physical attacks, material damage and antisocial behaviour. The latter comprises interventions intended to prevent fire risks or provide support when necessary. Their role is above all preventive and dissuasive.

REAL-TIME INFORMATION
WEB PRESENCE
The service that we provide to our custo mers is not simply limited to parking spaces. In an increasingly connected world, drivers also want to have access at all times to useful information which can help them to organise their journeys. Interparking offers solutions in this area and has taken advantage of the renovation work in certain car parks to integrate dynamic notice boards. This is the case in the François 1er car park in Paris which has been recently renovated. A notice board in the car park provides customers with information in real time relating to road traffic and weather forecasts. It also displays the tariffs.
Social networks provide excellent means of communicating constantly with our “fans” via contests, the sharing of practical information and promotions. The different Facebook pages are particularly succes sful: 16,600 fans in Germany, 10,500 in Belgium, 2,700 in France, 4,400 in the Netherlands, etc. These different spaces develop synergies particularly in terms of providing information on car parks in the vicinity of stations and airports. Customers therefore know where to find the same level of service when they travel abroad. Pcard customers in Belgium and Germany also receive an electronic newsletter which contains the latest information on our car parks, competitions, gourmet, festive and cultural outings associated with the cities in which we are active.
“ONLINE BOOKING HAS BECOME A CENTRAL ELEMENT IN OUR CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE FOR VISITORS TO OUR DIFFERENT WEBSITES.”
ONLINE BOOKINGS Online booking has become a central element in our customer experience for visitors to our different websites. The user selects the car park of his/her choice and pays in advance. This online booking system is already available in Belgium, France, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands. Other technologies, such as “Pay & Display” (which is based on number plate recognition), QR codes (which the customer scans at the entrance to the car park) and “Tap’n’Go” (which allows you to pay for the car park without having to enter your bank card) are also proving very popular among our customers.
The Interparking mobile app can be used to find the nearest car park, consult prices, opening times, available spaces, etc. In Germany, a partnership with the railway ope rator Deutsche Bahn grants access for our customers to a particularly useful mobile app to identify, book and pay for a parking space in the immediate vicinity of a train station. In 2017, all the on-street parking spaces available in Germany were included in the DB BahnPark app.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES OUR CAR PARKS ARE ENTERING A NEW ERA
“The digitisation of the Interparking experience is materialised in our 3+1 strategy. Initially, this allows customers to subscribe to a Pcard, subscribe to a car park or book a space via our online channels within the entire group. Subsequently, we will offer an entirely digital Pcard. For customers, the digitisation of services is visible every day, through the regular addition of new features to their mobile app.”

WHEN WE THINK ABOUT INNOVATION IN RELATION TO INTERPARKING, WE IMMEDIATELY THINK OF THE PCARD, AN INTER-MODAL MEANS OF ACCESS AND PAYMENT WHICH MAKES LIFE EASIER FOR OUR CUSTOMERS. FROM NEXT YEAR, THE “3+1” STRATEGIC PLAN WILL INCORPORATE THE PCARD AND VARIOUS ASSOCIATED SERVICES IN A TOTALLY NEW ONLINE EXPERIENCE. PCARD: SLIP THE INTERPARKING EXPERIENCE INTO YOUR WALLET Today, the Pcard from Interparking is available in 449 car parks, in the following countries: Belgium, France, Germany and Austria. Simple to use, the Pcard is presented at the entry and exit of our car parks. The amounts are then invoiced at the end of the month. For business customers, the invoi cing helps with the accounting, especially in terms of being able to recover the VAT. Clearly, the Pcard also offers many other benefits, such as discounts and online monitoring of use.
In Belgium, the Pcard+ also grants access to FleetWash, the largest independent network of washing stations in the country. This type of partnership is extremely popular with professional customers as all the expenses linked to the use of the vehicle are grouped together in a single invoice. At the end of the month, the customer receives a single document which lists their parking and car wash expenses. In addition, since we have been offering split billing, the employer is able to make a di stinction between professional and private expenses.

“WITH THE PCARD, ALL THE EXPENSES LINKED TO THE USE OF THE VEHICLE ARE GROUPED TOGETHER IN A SINGLE INVOICE.”
In 2017, Interparking and Brussels Airport launched a red Pcard+ on the market. This is a shared marketing tool which enables us to raise the awareness of customers to the benefits enjoyed by holders of a Pcard+ (regardless of the colour), namely the first 30 minutes of parking free and a 10% reduction after the first 24 hours on the Brussels Airport parking rates. Interparking has distributed several thousand Pcards throughout Europe to date, particularly in Belgium, Germany, Austria and France.

MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORT The Pcard+ not only grants access to our car parks but also to the public transport networks operated by our partners. Today's users combine several means of transport in cities from cars to trams, buses, metros, trains, shared bicycles, etc. In Brussels, the Pcard+ can be used to pay for transport in the STIB network. In Berlin, the online booking system known as “E-Park&Rail” can be used to book a par king space at Berlin Südkreuz when purchasing train tickets. In Amsterdam, thanks to the “Park & Bike” service, our customers can book a bicycle at a preferential rate to ride through the city's streets.
“3+1”: THE TOTAL ONLINE EXPERIENCE The online service development strategy known as “3+1” will be consolidated in 2018 for each of the group’s more than 800 car park operations. Customers will be able to book a parking space, take out a subscription and order their Pcard via our digital channels. This new step represents a major development in the digitisation of the services provided by Interparking.
ELECTRIC MOBILITY AND SHARED CARS The success of electric vehicles depends on the provisions of suitable infrastructures. Every year we install new charging stations associated with parking spaces reserved for electric vehicles. In the Netherlands, drivers of cleaner vehicles may even benefit from reduced prices with our ECO parking formula. Another popular concept is car sharing. For users, this solution significantly reduces the usage cost of a car in which they only cover
a few kilometres each month. In terms of traffic, shared cars drastically reduce congestion on the roads and in particular free up parking spaces. In order to encourage this type of collaborative mobility, Interparking created shared parking areas in about a dozen car parks in Brussels. They are marked out by yellow markings on the ground which makes them easy to identify. Interparking has also concluded partnerships with different car sharing providers through which it offers free parking spaces for their customers.

“Castel Gandolfo is a site that attracts a lot of visitors, since it is in this town in the south of Rome that the Pope has his summer residence. We offer more than a thousand parking spaces, mainly on the streets, with solutions tailored for cars and motorbikes, but also motor homes and passenger vehicles. To help customers easily find their vehicles, we use signage composed of colour codes, numbers and pictograms. Every year, once spring arrives, all our spaces are taken by 11 a.m. on Saturdays.

FONTAINEBLEAU: A HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP In France, the municipal authority of Fontainebleau has launched a “public service delegation” tender covering all parking spaces in the town. Interparking won this tender. Fontainebleau has thus become the first town in France to have all its par king (both on-site and off-site) operated by Interparking within the framework of a global contract.

“IN FRANCE, INTERPARKING HAS CONCLUDED A PARTNERSHIP TO EASE ACCESS AND PAYMENT FACILITIES IN CAR PARKS WITH THE LIBER’T BADGE.”
NAMUR: PRESERVING THE HISTORICAL PART OF GROGNON
FRANCE: PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MOTORWAYS
Interparking is building a new car park at Place du Grognon in the historic crib of Namur at the confluence of the Sambre and the Meuse. A team of archaeologists worked on the site for more than a year. Various discoveries and findings have been unearthed since last March.
In France, Interparking has concluded a partnership to ease access and payment in car parks. Users of Interparking car parks will be able to pay for hourly parking using their Liber’T badge without incurring any additional costs or procedures. This badge is extremely popular in France because it allows users to pass through motorway tollbooths without having to stop their vehicle. The transactions are then recorded in the customer's Liber’T invoice. The latter now also incorporate the use of Interparking car parks. By the end of 2017, 21 Interparking operations were already accepting the Liber’T badge.
Given the extent of the discoveries made (Roman temples from the 2nd and 3rd centuries, a Carolingian street dating back to the 9th century, section of ramparts from the 10th and 11th centuries, etc.), the teams working on the site were granted an additional 5 months before work was resumed. The results of these excavations will be carefully preserved: they reflect the prosperous activity of the present-day capi tal of Wallonia whose first traces of occupation can now be dated at around 8,500 BC. 24

PARTNERING WITH HOSPITALS Interparking manages various car parks which are directly servicing hospitals in Europe. We have introduced effective solu-
tions in order to make access easier and smoother both for members of hospital staff and patients. In Spain, for example, Interparking offers preferential rates for chronic patients. Another example is the Netherlands where Interparking simplifies the administration process of parking for hospital staff via the Bluefield app. HELPING TRAFFIC TO FLOW MORE SMOOTHLY A number of large cities in Belgium adapted their mobility plans in 2017. This is the case in Antwerp, for example, which will be congested by the knip until 2019 (a major project involving the creation of a tunnel which prevents traffic from crossing the city) and Ghent, which has reorganized mobility by transfering traffic to peripheral routes. That type of challenges will initially create a great deal of traffic disruption.
Interparking has seized the opportunity with both hands. On the one hand, we have informed our customers via advertisings, newsletters and social media about the new routes to take to reach or car parks in spite of changes to the traffic routes. On the other, we are offering temporary promotions in order to attract customers' attention to our parking solutions in the strategic areas of these two cities.
COMBINING DIFFERENT MEANS OF TRANSPORT Our car parks are designed to ease congestion in urban areas, where motorists looking for a parking space account for up to 30% of the traffic! One solution is to offer parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the major hubs in the public transport network. Consequently, many of our car parks are situated in strategic areas, near the main railway stations, traffic hubs and connections to airports.
In Germany, our subsidiary Contipark, via a joint venture with the railway company “Deutsche Bahn”, provides secure, high-quality parking services at and near the stations. In partnership with the German railway company, we therefore offer parking spaces at more than two hundred stations. Today, this partnership is taking on an additional dimension with the implementation of a reservation system at Frankfurt station and Berlin Südkreuz: commuters can book a parking space before starting their journey. Similarly, in Belgium, Pcard+ holders can now combine parking and use of the Brussels public transport system with a single card.
“OUR CAR PARKS ARE INTENDED TO REDUCE CONGESTION IN URBAN AREAS WHERE DRIVERS LOOKING FOR A PARKING SPACE SOMETIMES ACCOUNT FOR UP TO 30% OF THE TRAFFIC!”

COMMITMENT HUMANS BEFORE FIGURES
“The growing popularity of electric vehicles is resulting in new needs for users. Motorists want charging points at home, at their work place but also in various other locations, such as car parks. The charging points that we install in partnership with Interparking are open to the public. Customers can connect using an access card to which their charge session is invoiced. This charging method is a great success, particularly in the Netherlands where the electric vehicle market is growing strongly.

JURRIAAN FISCHER BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT NEWMOTION

CERTIFIED CARBON NEUTRALITY
A CLIMATE PROJECT IN BENIN
The efficient management of resources is at the very heart of our corporate culture. Various initiatives have been developed in order to reduce the environmental impact of our activities such as using teleconfe rences to reduce travel and replacing a proportion of the car fleet with cleaner vehicles. However, as many other firms have found, we can at best work towards total carbon neutrality but will struggle to attain it completely. It is in this context that Interparking has become involved in a carbon offset project supporting a number of CO2 reduction projects in Africa. The environmental impact of our activities is therefore offset by the reduction of CO2 emissions thanks to the projects that we support.
As part of our carbon emissions offset initiative, Interparking has decided to support the Wanrou project which develops “improved stoves” in Benin. We have been involved in this project, which is being jointly conducted by the NGO EcoBénin and CO2Logic, since the beginning of 2016.
This initiative has been awarded “CO2 neutral” certification. All the group's activities were certified as neutral in 2017 thanks to the offset projects conducted in partnership with the CO2Logic research department.
The improved stoves designed by Wanrou have a direct impact on the quality of the environment. This process reduces CO2 emissions by 3 tonnes per year for each household concerned! This more efficient stove also allows families to reduce their wood consumption by 50%, representing 2 tonnes per year per household. This means that 36,000 trees are saved every year.

MORE EFFECTIVE USE OF RESOURCES At the end of 2016, Interparking SA left its legendary head offices at Parking 58 and moved to its new premises located in 9 Rue Brederode in Brussels. In order to reduce its energy consumption, the building has been fitted with high-technology equipment: heating and cooling system integrated in the ceilings, movement sensors which control the automatic lighting, etc. The environmental impact also determined

the choice of furniture. Vintage furniture from the 50s was sourced for the offices. The other furniture used was obtained from suppliers based in Malines and Namur in order to support local branches and short supply chains. In 2016, Interparking introduced a car washing service based on technology that does not require water at the Markthal à Rotterdam. This environmentally-friendly method saves considerable amounts of water. By choosing to wash their vehicles
at the Markthal, drivers are therefore hel ping to protect the planet. In addition, Interparking is involved in a worn-out uniform recycling programme in the Netherlands. The fibres are treated and reused to make other textile items.
ACCESS TO ALL TO THE LABOUR MARKET As a responsible social Group, Interparking has to be exemplary. In order to create level playing field for all within the company, the same opportunities have to be available to everyone. When Interparking needs to call upon suppliers in Romania, for example, the company gives preference to partners who apply an active employment policy with regard to people with disabilities. Interparking is also actively committed to employing people who have not been involved in the labour market for a long time. This programme is aimed towards young people, people over 50 and disabled people or those who suffer from slight mental impairment. The efforts are paying off: on 12 October 2017, Contipark Austria obtained the Promenteus Award, an honorary distinction in recognition of the efforts made to integrate people suffering from a mental or physical disability. The firm has done its utmost to ensure that people suffering from a disability can cooperate fully with their colleagues notably thanks to adapted work spaces.
SPONSORSHIP In Belgium, Interparking is also actively involved in social, cultural and sports patronage. We support the Samu social, Nativitas, the Samilia foundation and the Jules Bordet foundation among others. In the cultural field, Interparking is a traditional partner in the prestigious Queen Elizabeth classical music competition, the Klarafestival and the BOZAR in Brussels, the Concertgebouw in Bruges and the Festival van Vlaanderen in Ghent. As far as sport is concerned, we are a sponsor of the Antwerp basketball team “Antwerp Giants”. In Romania, Interparking is one of the partners of the George Enescu festival which celebrates classical music. In France, Interparking sponsors the women's handball club in Cannes and the women's golf team in Cély. Interparking is also a partner of the Alpes maritimes marathon.
In Germany, Contipark has been in partnership since 2012 with the ONG “Sports Against Violence” which organises a race over 6 days every year to raise the awareness of young people in Berlin to the problem of urban violence. Contipark has also forged links with a football tournament organisation whose profits help to being children out of poverty. In Austria, the firm also finances research programmes for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The patronage work is sometimes of a more surprising nature. For example, Interparking sponsors a mandrill in Antwerp Zoo and a snow leopard in Salzburg Zoo.
“CONTIPARK AUSTRIA HAS OBTAINED THE PROMENTEUS AWARD, AN HONORARY DISTINCTION IN RECOGNITION OF THE EFFORTS MADE TO INTEGRATE PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM A MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DISABILITY.”

MANAGEMENT REPORT MANAGEMENT REPORT ON THE CONSOLIDATED ACCOUNTS FOR THE 2017 FINANCIAL YEAR
Dear Sirs, We have the pleasure of presenting to you the consolidated accounts of the Interparking Group as at 31 December 2017. The past financial year has seen a rise in consumer confidence after a year 2016 marked by terrorist acts in Belgium, France, Spain and Germany and a difficult economic context. Our Group’s activity is clearly linked to the economic trends affecting the European countries in which we are active and, more particularly, to private consumption indices. Our diversification and long-term investment policy has ensured that our income is characterised by recognised growth thanks to the variety of needs with which our car park operations are associated (city centre, leisure, shopping, work, airports, train stations, hospitals, etc.) and the range of policies pursued by the cities and regions in which we work in Europe.
32
| Interparking
Overall, the Group’s consolidated sales, excluding non-recurring items, increased from €410.3 million in 2016 to €437.8 million, that is, growth of 6.7%. Including new acquisitions, as of 31 December 2017, Interparking operated 811 off-street car parks in 378 cities in nine European Union countries, including seven in Euroland, and managed over 373,000 parking spaces compared to 782 car parks and 355,000 parking spaces at the end of 2016. The most significant specific risk that can affect our Group’s development is the risk related to the use of the car and the accessibility of city centres using this means of transportation. We strive to meet these mobility challenges, particularly by improving our parking guidance systems and by developing true partnerships with the cities in which we are present.
The cost of using the car as well as an awareness of ecological issues lead the population to a more rational use of the car and to modify certain behaviours. Confronted to this attitude, the cities and leisure or shopping centers that wish to maintain their attractiveness feel the need to continue to redevelop their conviviality spaces, which have, until now, often been occupied by a poorly organized or even disorganised parking, mitigating thus - at least partially - the effects of this change of behaviour on the operation of our car parks. The commercial, economic and cultural attractiveness of each of the locations of the Group’s car parks is also essential. Interparking therefore favours operations in quality cities that have a strong and diversified attractiveness. The Group continued to expand in 2017 with the acquisition of new operations.
During the past financial year, our Spanish subsidiary took over the parking part of a construction company, reinforcing thus its portfolio by 14 car parks in the north of Spain. Moreover, the Group was also very active on the Italian market, where it acquired two major car parks in Trieste and in Firenze, improving herewith our geographical presence in the north of Italy. In Belgium, we achieved the works on the new car park VIP at Brussels Airport which marks a new stage in the development of high-end services. End of July, after 58 years of operation, the very first car park, Parking 58 in the center of Brussels, closed down permanently before being destroyed. In the other countries, we keep on reinforcing our position thanks to the consol-
“THE GROUP CONTINUES TO INVEST A GREAT DEAL IN SIGNPOSTING, COMFORT, SECURITY AND TECHNOLOGY.”
idation of the recently acquired car parks and the takeover of new ones. In order to ensure the complete satisfaction of our customers, the Group keeps on significantly investing in signage, comfort, security and technology. At the end of 2017, 187 of the Group’s car parks have been awarded the EPA’s (European Parking Association) ESPA quality label. The Group also received an ESPA Gold award of the best refurbishment for the car park Am Museum in Vienna. The Group continued to step up the use of remote management centres as well as the development of multi-car park products in 2017, with the ambition of deploying them in all the countries where we operate. Entering the digitalisation era requires more comfortable car parks,
state-of-the-art technological equipment and efficient services offered to customers. In order to meet these new needs, the Group has embarked on an ambitious investment plan. From an environmental point of view, the Group has been entirely CO2 neutral since 2015 thanks to continuing environmental efforts which include reducing energy consumption and purchasing green energy. In order to meet the technological evolutions of the vehicles and the new demands of the customers, we invest in the electric charging stations and we propose spaces dedicated to the shared vehicles. The Group’s consolidated recurring EBITDA amounted to €132.5 million in 2017 compared to €122.0 million in the previous financial year, i.e. an increase of 8.6%.
Net financial charges, excluding depreciation on consolidation differences and excluding non-recurring items, increased by 9.0% from €11.2 million in 2016 to €12.2 million in 2017. This increase in expenses is mainly due to the new additional straight loans in order to finance important acquisitions. The Group’s net debt amounts to €551 million, that is, a little over four times the EBITDA. This low level of debt contributes to the Group’s stable and sound capitalisation level.
In 2017, the Group share in earnings after tax amounted to €30.2 million, compared to €30.6 million in 2016. No major event has occurred since the accounts for the 2017 financial year were closed that would be such as to have any significant effect on the Group’s financial situation and results.
Brussels, 22 February 2018 The Board of Directors
Taking into account recurring depreciation and exceptional items, earnings before tax amounted to €49.3 million in 2017, compared to €48.4 million in the previous year.

V. CONSOLIDATION STRUCTURE The consolidated financial statements have been drawn up according to the principles set forth in the Royal Decree of 6 March 1990 governing consolidated financial statements. In addition to the parent company's accounts, the consolidated financial statements include the subsidiaries’ accounts on the basis of different methods: A. FULL CONSOLIDATION The companies in which the Group controls at least 50% of the capital and which it manages on a daily basis are consolidated according to the full consolidation method. B. PROPORTIONAL CONSOLIDATION The companies which are jointly controlled by the Group are consolidated according to the proportional consolidation method. C. EQUITY METHOD The companies in which the Group holds between 10% and 49% of the capital either directly or indirectly and which it does not manage on a daily basis are consolidated according to the equity method. D. NON-CONSOLIDATED COMPANIES Holdings of less than 10% are not included in the consolidation structure. The same applies to companies undergoing liquidation or constitution. Given the lack of material impact on the company's consolidated results, the following entities are accounted for according to the equity method: Aparcamiento Par-
que Santurtzi S.A. ; Aparcamientos Plaza Euskadi y Ametzola S.A. ; Cpc Aparcamientos Santiago S.L. ; Cpc Aparcamientos Sitges S.L. ; Strandweg Parking B.V.
VI. CRITERIA GOVERNING THE EVALUATIONS IN THE CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS A. The evaluation rules applying to the company INTERPARKING S.A., which feature in the appendices to the annual financial statements, apply to the consolidated financial statements subject to the information provided below: Depreciation rates for tangible and intangible assets: accelerated depreciation which is agreed upon in the corporate financial statements of the Group's Belgian companies are reprocessed as linear depreciation of the same duration in the consolidated financial statements in order to take into account the economic life of these assets. Consolidation differences: when a new subsidiary is integrated in the consolidated balance sheet or when an additional holding is acquired, the book value of the shares and units in these companies acquired by firms already featuring in this consolidation is compared with the fraction of stockholders’ equity that they represent, taking into account a re-estimation of the asset and liability values if applicable. A consolidation difference is determined in this basis. If it is negative, it is entered on the liabilities side of the balance
sheet under the heading “consolidation differences”. If it is positive, it is entered on the assets side of the balance sheet under the heading “consolidation differences”. Evaluation rules specific to foreign companies have not been reprocessed insofar as they are of no particular significance with the exception of leasing contracts. he conversion method used is the one T applying on the closing date for the balance sheet accounts with the exception of the financial year's profit which is converted at the average rate for items in the profit and loss account Only positive differences are subject to annual depreciation in the profit and loss account over a period of 20 years (5% per year). This depreciation is justified by the contribution to the increase in the Group's profits when these acquisitions are considered from a long-term perspective. The holdings correspond to the acquisition price of non-consolidated fixed assets after appropriate value reductions have been deducted. The associated dividends are entered in the accounts during the year of their collection. The value of securities in companies consolidated by the equity method corresponds to their share in the net equity of the issuing company including the financial year's profit.
ment plans and if payments according to these plans are to be settled by the Group, a provision is established for the corresponding commitments. In terms of any early retirement agreements which may be negotiated by certain companies, the necessary provisions are established and the residual expenses are re-evaluated each year. The annual financial statements of consolidated companies were closed on 31 December 2017.

B. Deferred taxes are recorded in relation to all temporary differences stemming from income and expenses which are included in or excluded from the accounting result of a particular financial year but which may be deducted from or reintegrated in the tax base for the financial years during which these differences are reversed. The liability method is applied, which means that the deferred tax is calculated on the basis of the last known rate at the time of closure of the accounts.
The Group's employees receive pensions according to retirement systems complying with the laws and customs of the countries in which the Group companies carry out their business. In the case of formal retire39
