This project of housing is designed for the caretaker who have to take care of sick person that familiar with in the hospital such as the relationship between the parent with their kids or the elderly with grandson. Not only this place is served for the caretaker, whoever can come here to refresh their body and get the good atmosphere along the Bangkok Noi canal.

Investigations into density in Bangkok

My purpose of this project is to create housing to answer the well-being of residents in the capital city as Bangkok. Normally, in the hospital, the caretakers who come to take care of their parents or their cousins in the patient’s room are the type of people that we should not overlook.

When we recognize people who stay in the hospital, we will think of the group of the doctor, nurse, or staff who come to look for patients in each section of their rooms.

However, people who have an important role in helping the patient to live longer than the previous group are the people who have the relationship or are familiar with their patient like caretakers. This type of person will be the supporter, like sacrificing their time to spend with the patient. For example, they try to find food or water for patients to eat when the nurse does not come to their room. Moreover, they still have to pay the prescription for patients to stay.

Lack of relationship with nature and people decrease caretaker’s quality of life and the interaction with others. It affects their stress symptom when they take care of their patient and work on their duties at the same time. Therefore, decided to design the semi - temporary housing for caretakers in this hospital to have more space to do activities with the neighborhood with nature like when they live in their house.

Apart from encouraging the caretakers who relate to their patients as family members or people who are familiar with to have more society with the neighborhood and get nature, this project also supports people who live in the community along the Bangkok Noi canal to have a public park to do activities they want.

I bring the atmosphere and lifestyle of Bangkok Noi canal to adapt with the atmosphere of building like water transportation and adding green space for the community along the canal to provide this area to be more lively. The caretakers and the people in the community along the canal will have the space like a public park to do various activities such as walking, bicycling, or workout with neighborhood.

The form of the building is shaped to support various functional spaces inside such as units and communal space. Moreover, its design encourages caretakers to feel more comfortable instead of staying in the restricted space in the patient's room.

The design of communal space in each floor is designed to be a semi space like open air to get natural ventilation from outside building flows into the inside freely and also has a rooftop reach out from the building to be a space for doing various activities.

Each unit inside the building is designed as the container box stacking up to get more units and also increasing the communal space at the same time. Caretakers can choose which floor and view they want.
