In 1977, as a seven-year-old, Dave Warby celebrated when his Dad set a new Outright Unlimited World Water Speed Record of 464km/hr in a hand-built jet-powered hydroplane. Now, at the age of 50, Dave is hoping to step out of his father’s wake and make a few waves of his own by taking a tilt at Ken’s title.
This month we caught up with Dave as he prepares to take a shot at the record later this year. We find out what has changed in jet-boating over the forty or so years (the short answer is a lot!) and how the new Spirit of Australia II dream was created with just a little help from Dad Ken Warby and a team of dedicated enthusiasts.
After celebrating the company’s 40th anniversary in 2017 the Metropolitan Players are preparing to be among the first community theatre groups in the world to put their
spin on a more modern day classic – We Will Rock You this month.
We also shine the spotlight on Education and Training this month. Enjoy!
