INFOSEGURIDAD EL SALVADOR 2018-2019 The Government of El Salvador seeks to improve the business environment for the establishment of investment, trade facilitation, and security. These factors guarantee the establishment of businesses in the country since they protect the essential rights and freedoms of the citizens. This is the reason why our country has a long history of implementation of extraordinary security measurements for the prevention, combat, and eradication of crime and social violence that threaten public safety and therefore, human development.

STRATEGIES TO FIGHT AGAINST THE VIOLENCE. The year 2019 marks the entry of a new Government that brings with it new proposals in the field of public safety. Among them are three lines of action: prevention, crime fighting, and inclusion to a productive life.
PREVENTION
Creation of the law for the protection of the schools. Educational warning campaigns and aid programs. Creation of a police specialized unit: "School Police". Law project for the recovery of public places.
INTEGRATION Assistance and treatment of physical and mental health problems for social rehabilitation. Decrease the number of overcrowded prisons. Strengthening and expansion of the program "Yo Cambio". Ensure the educational offer in any prison in the country.
FIGHTING
Strengthen security through the establishment of surveillance cameras and special drones. Promotion of a culture of research through the collection and integration of information. Creation of a DNA Laboratory for research and registration of the crimes. Reactivation of the Rural Police next to the Armed Forces (FAES). Creation of the Criminal Military Police Battalion. The National Police highlight the declining trend of homicides and other crimes in the first quarter of 2019. The decrease in crimes include murders, robbery, and kidnappings. El Salvador stands out for the progress achieved on the issue of security. ----------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------El Salvador records the least violent year since the agreement with the gangs. The National Police mention the trend towards the reduction of violence for almost three years. As an example, they point out Morazan Department where zero homicides were recorded in February of 2019. ---------------------------------------------Prisons are looking for the self-sustaining of reintegration programs through the prison industry. There has been an investment of 13 million dollars to enhance programs such as "Yo Cambio" with the aim that the inmates avoid excessive leisure time and that they can have a better transition to reality once they are out of prisons. ---------------------------------------------The National Police highlight the results of the GREAT program. The National Police in La Union Department has implemented the GREAT program which has helped 1,600 young people of 30 different schools. This program has progressively reduced the recruitment of children and teens by gangs.
