Tuscany is a truly fascinating region of Italy that has been inhabited for centuries. It was inhabited by the Etruscans, Romans and was a centre of the Renaissance. Finding hotels in this region makes touring the province simple and as one of the largest repositories of art in the world, the chance to see some of the seminal artistic pieces in history is an opportunity not to be missed. Tuscany is not however just about art, tourists will enjoy touring the outstanding scenery and those who love the finer things in life will be satisfied by the simple yet ultimately sumptuous local cuisine and wines; with a wealth of hotels you will not be stuck for somewhere to stay. Naturally Florence is the first location that comes to mind when thinking of Tuscany. This is where the art works of Michelangelo and Da Vinci are kept as well as many others. There are paintings, all manner of sculptures and frescoes, not too mention the magnificent architecture. The city itself however is a bit of a honey trap for tourists, full of overpriced and busy hotels. A better solution is to find hotels in the surrounding area. This has two major benefits; firstly you will be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and secondly you will be able to wake up in the awe inspiring countryside of Tuscany. The countryside of Tuscany is truly spectacular. With rolling hills dotted with farm hotels and small villages. The chance to tour the fields lined with poplar trees in the warm breeze should not be passed up. Whether a keen biker or walker, the countryside in Tuscany will fulfil your requirements, clearly you do not have to visit the cities to enjoy your holiday in Tuscany.

Art For those who like to pamper themselves there are many spa hotels in Tuscany that make ideal relaxation locations. With a wealth of mineral and spa waters in this region of Italy, healthcare has become an increasingly large part of the Tuscan tourism industry. Some of these spa hotels and resorts are world renowned and have built up reputations over the last century. The thermal waters and their benefits were realised by the Romans and there is no reason for you not realise them either. If visiting the cities, a spa bath at the end of the day is the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate yourself for the next day's sightseeing. Of the cities there is obviously Florence but of equal worth is Pisa. More than just the location of the famous leaning tower, it has wondrous architecture and fine hotels that make a brilliant romantic excursion. Another city of note is Siena; this medieval city has many exquisite examples of houses and towers while as with much of Tuscany, art plays a major part in the attractions located within the city. For an understanding of the Etruscan culture Volterra should be visited; with a fabulous selection of Etruscan cinerary urns and other sarcophagi, the views of this ancient people are displayed in terms of life, art and death. Tuscany truly is place to visit for all seasons and has a wealth of attractions that will give all visitors something worthwhile to gain from their trip. With many brilliant hotels in the region ranging from large modern city hotels to medieval town houses and fine country villas; no matter what type of trip you are planning Tuscany will satisfy your needs. So think about sitting on a warm Tuscan evening enjoying the famous meat dishes with a glass of Chianti in your hand; with luxurymagazineonline, the dream could become a reality easier than you think.

Meet The Locals in Italy and Celebrate Life's

Milestones In A Special Way An Italian cooking tour is actually a cultural immersion adventure for your mind, senses and soul. You get to know a wide variety of local people and experience a range of places off the tourist track. You cook with restaurant chefs or good home cooks right in their kitchens. In private visits, you learn about and taste wines, cheese, olive oil or balsamic vinegar with the producers in their cellars, small factories or gardens. You look for truffles with hunters and their dogs in the forest. You dine with families on their farms. You can also shop for treasures in medieval hill towns, walk magnificent country paths by the sea or vineyards, admire Byzantine architecture in Ravenna, relax on a boat ride on the Riviera or watch an active volcano in Sicily spew its fire into the night sky. A Sample Of Experiences On Italian Cooking Tours Imagine yourself on a warm evening out on a deck in Piedmont in north west Italy, surrounded by vineyards spilling down slopes at all angles, covering green hills fading into the distance, drinking young, fruity Dolcetto and laughing with friends. An imposing 11th century castle dominates the little town of Barolo in front of you. You're sitting back, thinking only of enjoying life in the moment in the Barolo wine country. Barolo and Barbaresco rank as some of Italy's top reds. A tantalizing aroma wafts out on to the deck from the Brezza family's restaurant kitchen ten steps away---Brasato

al Barolo, a veal roll simmering slowly in robust, Barolo wine, onions, celery, yellow pepper, carrots, garlic, nutmeg, cloves, fresh rosemary and laurel. Your dinner experience starts with a delicate spinach flan topped with fonduta cheese sauce. Signor Brezza pours you his Barolo that goes perfectly with your Brasato al Barolo, bathed in rich gravy. A glass of sweet Moscato accompanies your decadent dessert, a semi-freddo with torrone, the local hazelnut nougat. Next morning from a hill town above Barolo, you walk down through vineyards, farm hamlets and a forest to the Ratti family's private wine museum in an abbey where monks began making wine in 1162. Full of fascinating facts and humorous anecdotes, one of the owners, Massimo, takes you around, starting with an overview of the area's five main wines and three kinds of soil. Strolling through the barrique cellar, up to the monks' original kitchen and through rooms of tool, glasses and label displays, you discuss the history of the wines and their labels, the short supply of corks and your tastes in wines. Massimo shares glasses of three wines including their best Barolo with you. Someone asks very seriously, "How long should you age your wines?" He exclaims, "When in doubt, just drink it!" You'd never guess this down to earth wine producer is an author and a celebrity in the Barolo wine world.

a truly special way to celebrate life, love and friendship with those you love. In Tuscany among the rolling golden hills of fields, patches of olive groves and vineyards, for a short time you become part of a lively, enterprising farm family headed by Sandra and Ulisses. On their farm on a scenic ridge with a 180 degree panorama, they make pecorino cheese, grow herbs, raise pigs and sheep, run vacation bungalows, manage farm volunteers, make wine and preserves and have six children. Sandra sparkles with energy as you make delicious grilled eggplant and her special chestnut linguine with ricotta. More laid back Ulisses teaches you how to make Florentine arista, a savory pork roll with rosemary, garlic, sage leaves, a fennel flower and extra virgin olive oil, and a delicious tiramisu. After your lesson, you tour the farm, chatting with Sandra about her life. Why did they choose the farming life? How does she find time to do all she does? Do they take holidays? Later you sit down at a long wooden table in their dining room and congratulate yourselves on your tasty creations. You experience a different way of life and learn a lot about Tuscan family life from two people passionate about what they do. How to Celebrate Life's Milestones in "Dolce Vita" Style Your 40th, 50th or 60th birthday or your 20th, 30th or 40th wedding anniversary happen once in a lifetime. Sharing a cooking, wine and culture tour in Italy gives you

Jan in Colorado and Janis in New York, friends since college, had their 50th birthdays coming soon. Janis was ending chemotherapy and needed a holiday of fun and pampering. With their sisters from California and Florida and two Colorado women friends, they indulged in a cooking, wine and spa tour at a lovely, 15th century villa in Tuscany. A dream came true on a carefree week with their guide looking after everything, of cooking, eating, drinking, shopping and laughing all week long. On a cooking tour in Italy, you escape from your busy world and immerse yourself in a fun, sensual, stimulating cooking, wine and cultural adventure with a cast of warm, local people. You experience life's simple joys in the present moment and go back to being the person you forgot you were. The city of Florence is a treasure trove of rich artistic heritage that rivals any city in the world. With over 60 museums and art galleries in such a small concentrated space, its not surprising that these works of art displayed in the museums and art galleries throughout Florence continue to inspire local artisans and craftsmen. In the 1700's, Voltaire wrote that the Renaissance in Italy marked one of mankind's greatest cultural achievements. Today, Italy has the most, and best preserved, Renaissance art in the world. Venice, Milan and Rome boast many well-known masterpieces from this age of enlightenment. However, the largest concentration of high art and architecture of Renaissance Italy, hence of the world, is in Florence. To travel in Florence is to truly take a trip back in time, to the age of discovery, when mankind passed from the darkness of the Middle Ages to a time of luxury, increased artistic freedom and scientific advancement. The architecture of Florence is classically medieval, with its narrow pedestrian-friendly streets flanked by buildings dating from both the medieval and Renaissance eras. The grid-like layout harkens back to the Romans who first planned Firenze. The most prominent Florentine family in the 15th century was the Medici family, bankers who were known for their patronage of the arts. The Medici influence is evident everywhere in Florence, building upon building. The Medici tombs can be viewed in the Augustine Church of San Lorenzo, behind the Medici Palace in Florence. Michelangelo, Donatello, and renaissance sculptor and architect Brunelleschi all worked on this church, paid for by the Medici family. The Medici Palace itself, built in 1444, features a Renaissance courtyard with the Medici coat of arms and a chapel in the open first floor.

Clearly, it is impossible to separate art and architecture in Florence, or Italy as a whole. Art and architecture were as tied together in Renaissance Italy as were their creators, and the philanthropy of the Medici family.

Savvy Chris Jensen The allure of Internet shopping is particularly big for the wealthy, the busy, the shut-ins, the elderly, and the sluggish. With a few clicks of your mouse at a retailer's website, you've made a purchase and it magically shows up on your doorstep a few days later. And you never even had to leave your living room! Internet shopping, also called online or web shopping, is similar the traditional shopping our parents used to do. The same basic process applies: browse around, put items in your shopping cart, and pay for them at checkout. But in Internet shopping, all these transactions are done virtually. Shopping over the Internet is convenient and saves a lot of valuable time for the busy consumer. Shopping over the web also gives customers the safety of making secure purchases, and people really appreciate that. This is evidenced by the skyrocketing growth of online shopping in recent years. If, however, a customer suspects that their credit card information isn't safe or that their transactions isn't 100% secure, they will avoid shopping online. Online sales encourage growth in existing and new businesses alike because of

low overhead, the potential to reach larger numbers of consumers, and the freedom of information flow. Even though the general public doesn't quite have complete trust in doing business online yet, the dawn of Internet shopping is a fiercely competitive market that is doing quite well. Buying goods and services online helps you to quickly track down exactly what you need, and quite often saves a lot of money in the process. For example, you can go to a physical electronics store and get a high-quality digital camera for $500. Or you can do a little price comparison-shopping online and get the same model of digital camera with rechargeable batteries and car charger for $249, plus free shipping! In three days, the new camera and its accessories will arrive on my doorstep and I've saved time and money. In the past six years, Internet shopping hasn't surged as much as it has right now. On Main Street you may see signs of economic hard times, but business is booming in the online marketplace. Web shopping is increasingly peoples preferred way of getting the things they need and want. Two particularly innovative Internet

business, eBay and Amazon, are incredibly successful because of their new retail designs and good reputation as retailers. One reason online shopping is so popular is that it is such a convenient time saving tool. Let's say you need to run and buy Grandma a birthday present during your lunch hour. You could spend fifteen minutes online and have the whole thing done with, or you could run to the parking lot, speed to the mall, make a mad dash for the department store and hope they have what you're looking for, then get stuck in traffic on your way home and arrive back to work late and stressed out. What would you rather do? Internet shopping is quickly becoming a necessary convenience in today's world. If you don't have the time to go from store to store or visit the mall then online shopping is definitely for you. It's easier and more convenient to buy online than to shop at a physical store. The Internet gives retailers a virtual outlet to meet consumers needs. With online shopping, both the seller and buyer win.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior was born on January 21, 1905, in the small town of Granville, in Normandy. His well-to-do parents moved the family to Paris when he was five, and there, Christian Dior went to college and studied post-graduate Political Science, making many friends in intellectual and artistic circles. In 1928, this would-be architect who later remarked, ‘(I was) prevented by my family and circumstances from ever gratifying this passion,’ opened a contemporary art gallery showcasing the works of Chirico, Utrillo, Braque, Fernand Léger and the paintings of friends Max Jacob and Christian Bérard. The 1929 stock market crash ruined the Dior family finances and those too of Dior’s business partner. In 1935, he started selling fashion sketches to various Parisian Couture Houses and illustrated the fashion pages of the Figaro newspaper, a talent which led to him being hired as a designer – first for the house of Robert Piguet in 1938 and then, Lucien Lelong in 1941. Five years later, textile tycoon Marcel Boussac decided the finance Christian Dior’s own Couture House, purchasing the gracious mansions at 30, Avenue Montaigne which is still the home to the house of Dior.

Perfume... the silent language of

P

ersonality

Your choice in perfume says a lot about you, as does the way you wear your perfume. If you are thinking of making a good impression with perfume on a new date or a job interview, you will want to make sure that the perfume is right for the occasion and is not overpowering. Perfumery is an ancient art that has been practiced for thousands of years. In early days, perfume was made out of essential oils that were derived from natural substances such as fruits, flowers, tree barks and spices. Perfume made today is usually made with synthetic chemicals designed to have the same scent as essential oils, as essential oils would be too expensive in the mass production of perfume. Different scents can be used to evoke different emotions. And no scent smells the same on the two women, as our bodies actually react with the perfume.

For a job interview, you can make a good impression with perfume by simply not wearing too much and making sure that you choose a sporty or floral scent. Nothing too heavy that can be overpowering. You will want to apply the perfume to pressure points such as your wrists and behind your ears. If you are using cologne, you can spray it lightly on your wrists, behind you ears and in your hair. If you are using perfume, which is much more concentrated, a little dab will do on each wrist and behind each ear. You will not want to overpower your prospective employer by using too much perfume. If you are going out for the evening, you can choose a woodsy or spicy scent. Perfume is usually made from a combination of three different notes: A base note, a

medium note and a top note. The base note is the scent that will remain with you after the top note has evaporated. It is important, when making a good impression with perfume, that you have already experienced using the perfume and know that it is a proper scent for you. Prior to purchasing any new perfume, a woman should try some on her wrist, give it about a half an hour to react to her skin and then see if she still likes the scent. What smells good in a magazine may not smell good on you. Woodsy, spicy and Oriental base notes are often used in perfumes that are considered heavier and more proper to wear at night. Floral and citrus base notes are often used in perfumes that are lighter and better to wear during the day, to work and to a job interview. If you are unsure about the note of your perfume try to picture what the scent reminds you of after it has been absorbed in your skin for a while. The most important thing about wearing perfume, however, is how to wear it. Many people tend to give themselves a cologne bath prior to going on a date or meeting someone for the first time. Even if the scent is pleasing, it may overpower you. You will want your new date or prospective employer to remember you, not the type of perfume you wore. What you will want to achieve, when making an impression with perfume, is that your light scent lingers for just a bit after you have left the room, giving the person a chance to reflect a little about you and remember everything you said.

Are

iamonds

really rare?

When you walk into a jewellery store and see all the diamonds in all of the various settings that are for sale, it is difficult to realize that diamonds are indeed rare. Most people don't even stop to consider how that diamond came to be sitting in that jeweller's case! There is quite a bit of work that is done before a diamond is ready to sell to the general public! For every one million diamonds that are mined, only one will be found that is a quality one caret diamond. In order to find a two caret diamond, about five million diamonds must be mined. More than two hundred tons of ore must be mined to find one small diamond, and even then, more than 80% of the diamonds that are mined are only good for industrial use, such as diamond drill bits. So, the next time you visit your local jewellery store, ask to see the one carat diamonds. You should look at this diamond with new appreciation - knowing that it truly is one in a million!

Before you start shopping for diamonds, consider dealing with a bonded jeweller. Bonded jewellers sell bonded diamonds, and there are very few bonded jewellers in the world. In fact, out of the entire jeweller's in the world, only about 5% of them are bonded. Buying a bonded diamond will cost more than buying a non-bonded diamond, but when you look at what you get with the bonded option, you will see that it is well worth the extra expense. First, bonded diamonds have a buy back policy for the life of the diamond. No matter how long you have had the diamond, you can take it back to the bonded

jeweller and sell it back to him or her, for a 100% refund. If a jeweller does not offer a 100% buy back guarantee, for the life of the diamond, then you should take a closer look at the diamond to see what is wrong with it. Bonded diamonds also have a breakage policy. If the stone breaks or chips, the bonded jeweller will replace it with a new one - one time. No jeweller would ever offer such a policy on any stone that was not 100% natural, so just the offer of such a policy should give you piece of mind concerning the quality of the diamond. Bonded diamonds are natural and untreated. Bonded diamonds increase in value, with a fixed appreciation rate that is designed to keep up with inflation. This means that a diamond that is worth a certain amount of money today will be worth more in the future, as the price of diamonds continues to rise. This generally does not apply to buy backs, however. It typically applies to trade-ins. Alternately, by purchasing a bonded diamond, you are protected against the possibility of a market crash. If a market crash occurs, the value of diamonds will drop. However, the bonded jeweller guarantees to refund you the difference between what the diamond is now worth and what you paid for it before the market crash. It may be difficult to find a bonded jeweller in your area, but if you can, this is who you want to deal with, as opposed to dealing with an un-bonded jeweller. Specifically tell the jeweller that you are only interested in bonded diamonds. You can find a bonded jeweller in your area by using various online resources, or by calling the local jewellery stores.

Introducing

When discussing specific ceremonies it is important to have a local Aboriginal person present. There are many ceremonies and reasons for ceremonies in Aboriginal society, all have a firm place with The Dreaming. Great Ancestral Spirits arranged the earth by creating people, animals, plants and birds and these were all put in their respective places according to the land forms and spirits surrounding them. These Ancestral Spirits made rules and the law to govern the land, its people, animals and plants. If life on earth was to continue, these rules would need to be followed. Ceremonies ensure that vital components of this law and The Dreaming stay intact. They provide a time where all people in a language group work together for the survival of The Dreaming. All beliefs and stories of The Dreaming are individually owned and kept secure by individual members of a language group ensuring that they are protected for all people. These members of a language group had and continue to have the great task of ensuring that these stories were correctly remembered and passed on, and that the correct

practise of rituals and ceremonies were performed to do this. Aboriginal ceremonies are concerned with acting out The Dreaming, its laws and stories. Men and Women had different roles in ceremonies and these roles varied from language group to language group. In many areas men were given the role as guardians of a special spiritual site where a ceremony was performed. This role meant that the site would need to be cared for accordingly so that that particular spirit would continue to live there. Women were the guardians of a special knowledge and therefore hold great religious and spiritual power within the language group.Roles in ceremonies would vary considerably depending on the reasons why the ceremony was being held. Some ceremonies were for men only, others were for women only and both men and women had their own particular Spirtual and sacred objects. Sometimes this is talked about as men's business and women's business. Neither men nor women posses greater spiritual

needs than the other, they just coexisted in different ways to ensure that sacred elements of The Dreaming would be practised and passed on. Ceremonies and rituals take on many different forms. Some were very private and involved only people in that language group while others involved all people belonging to the language group, even children. Sometimes the creation of special and sacred objects of drawings in sand and/or earth (sand painting), the moulding and carving of spirit figures in clay or wood, the painting of bark, the making of specific body design were used in many ceremonies. Often the objects or drawings made were placed in a bora ring or near the site where the ceremony was to be held. That is the reason why we find many scarred trees marking the site where sacred ceremonies were once held or continue to be held Special and sacred songs and dances were also created for these ceremonies. .
