Best of Edinburgh featuring jazz singer Georgia Cecile
Coffee: Artisan roast on Broughton Street offers excellent coffee served with good banter. Cocktails: The bar in Baba. My favourite being a spicy margarita, on the rocks.
Pizza: Bar Napoli serves real deal Neapolitan style pizza. Top-tip: ask for it well done. The dough tastes so much better when its well-fired, and the topping doesn’t slide off! Fashion: I’m currently enjoying a stroll around the new St. James Quarter; I’ve been patiently waiting on & Other Stories to open up in the city centre. I also love a good rummage in Armstrongs vintage store in the Grassmarket.
Furniture: Edinburgh Antiques Centre on Bangor road is a treasure trove full of unique pieces. It’s where I found my favourite Ercol rocking chair, now the snoozing spot of my kitten, Simone. Home accessories: Lifestory at the bottom of Broughton Street has cool Scandi-style pieces. I recently bought some twirly dinner candles in ice-cream hues; lilac, lemon and sage green. Gifts: Aesop in Stockbridge. Who doesn’t love an Aesop hand soap? Grooming: The Nail Yard in Morningside do a great quick gel mani and the Margaret Dabbs pedicure is pure luxury. Brunch: Toast down at the shore is a personal favourite. The food is nutritious and delicious, and the waterside setting is very pretty. Art: I like to take a walk down to the National Gallery of Modern Art. It’s an escape from the chaos of the city and allows for quiet contemplation. Exercise: Tribe Yoga is my daily go-to. I have practiced there for over two years and feel part of the community.
Walk: I’m obsessed with being by the sea, so I love Sundays down at Portobello Beach. Regardless of the weather, I always feel grounded and refreshed after spending an hour or two walking along the sea front. Live music: The Jazz Bar is my haunt. You’ll find me there on the first Sunday evening of every month for my ‘Sunday Serenade’. I also love the Queens Hall for bigger concerts - the acoustics of the space are so beautiful.
