Celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (eight, nine-thirty, and eleven o’clock) The Gathering for Worship The service of worship begins with the prelude. Through the power and brilliance of the music may you feel the majesty and glory of God; in its quietness, His peace.

PRAYER OF PREPARATION O mighty God, lead us into the experience of triumphing over death. Let us walk humbly and majestically, fearing nothing. May we begin our immortal lives now. Grant that sinking ourselves in Christ we may win His victory in all things. from “Beginning the Day” by Henry Edmonds

Lyra Davidica and Charles Wesley

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Unison: Almighty God, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ you have shattered the power of sin and death. We confess that we do not always believe in this hope and remain captive to doubt and fear. Forgive our dread of loss, our despair, and our anxiety about the future. Set us free for the joy of Christ who was dead but now lives, that we too might find new life in the service of his kingdom. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen. A period of silence for personal confession.

KYRIE ELEISON (All Singing) Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. DECLARATION OF PARDON Minister: Friends, believe the good news of the gospel: People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. THE PEACE Minister: The peace of the Lord Christ be with you. People: And also with you. Minister: Let us stand and share the peace of Christ with one another.

Please exchange the peace with the words, “The peace of Christ be with you.”

The Response to the Word HYMN - “The Day of Resurrection!”...............................................................................................................LANCASHIRE Worship Care will resume next week. Nursery is available for infants - 5K.

The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad; The Passover of gladness, the Passover of God. From death to life eternal, from sin’s dominion free, Our Christ hath brought us over with hymns of victory. Let hearts be purged of evil that we may see aright The Lord in rays eternal of resurrection light, And listening to his accents may hear, so calm and plain, His own “All Hail!” and hearing, may raise the victor strain. Now let the heavens be joyful; let earth its song begin; The round world keep high triumph and all that is therein. Let all things seen and unseen their notes of gladness blend, For Christ the Lord is risen, our joy that has no end.

John of Damascus

* APOSTLES’ CREED..........................................................................................................................................Rev. Clayton I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost; born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven; and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. PRESENTATION OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS * The Offertory Statement * The Old Hundredth Psalm Tune................................................................................................ Ralph Vaughan Williams (People and Choir)

All people that on earth do dwell, Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice; Him serve with fear, his praise forth tell, Come ye before him, and rejoice. (Choir)

For why? the Lord our God is good: His mercy is forever sure; His truth at all times firmly stood, And shall from age to age endure. (People and Choir)

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him, above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

W. Kethe

* The Prayer of Dedication The Offertory Anthem - “Antiphon” from Five Mystical Songs Ralph Vaughan Williams Let all the world in every corner sing, My God and King. The heavens are not too high, His praise may thither fly: The earth is not too low, His praises there may grow. The Church with Psalms must shout, No door can keep them out: But above all, the heart Must bear the longest part. George Herbert

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

The Sending * HYMN - “Thine Is the Glory”...........................................................................................................JUDAS MACCABEUS Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won. Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, Kept the folded graveclothes where thy body lay. Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won. Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb; Lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom. Let the church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, For the Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting. Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won. No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life! Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife. Make us more than conquerors through thy deathless love; Bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above. Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son; Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.

Edmond Louis Budry, trans. R. Birch Hoyle

† Easter Lily Memorials - 2022 † THE LILIES with which the church is made beautiful today are, as they stand, symbols of the immortal life. As these flowers have sunk from sight and then at the bidding of their inner life sprung again into beauty and fragrance, so we believe the souls of men survive the winter of death and live once again. (Written by Dr. Henry M. Edmonds, 1938.) Below are names of some of our loved ones for whom the lilies were given to the glory of God and in loving memory. Mr. & Mrs. William E.
